I'm currently reading The Thorn Birds. It's a pretty interesting read even though I'm nearly 200 pages in. It's based off of a series that's also been shown on TV, but I think I'll stick with the book first since they say books are usually better. It's a good thing I have a mother who stores books and is a semi-book worm herself since I've finally decided to get a hobby and read. :p Alongside with that even though I've just (re?)started, I'm investing time on reading the Old Testament. Still on Genesis.

The Genesis Account: A theological, historical, and scientific commentary on Genesis 1-11 by Dr. Jonathan Sarfati is a new landmark book; the most up-to-date and in-depth commentary on early Genesis ever published. This book is phenomenal, possibly one of the best books I’ve ever read, and I’ve read a lot!

As the title suggests, the book's focus lies in the first eleven chapters of the Bible (a 24-hour 7 day Creation to Abraham), where you'll find the foundations for the most important Christian doctrines.

The Genesis Account is a brilliant read, thought-provoking and just shy of 800 pages. It's written at a high school reading level. The author, Dr. Sarfati, is a PhD scientist and a learned Messianic Jew, so he knows what he's talking about when it comes to studying the God's Word. While a little of the mathematics/science content flew over my head, most of it was written to engage the average reader. There were a few conclusions in the book that I didn't agree with, but nothing major. I found a few proof-reading errors, but I’m really reaching to find something not to like.

Now I'd like to share about myself:
I was raised in a Christian household with a biblical creation worldview. As such, I've been reading Creation magazine since the very early 1990s (this book is associated with their ministry). Since then I've read thousands upon thousands of such articles, many books and of course, CMI's quarterly magazine. I’ve watched numerous documentaries, online talks and have attended many lectures. So you could say I'm familiar with the topic of biblical creation versus evolution. Despite that, I found much new material in The Genesis Account, which was surprising but awesome.

Outside the home I was constantly exposed to evolutionary storytelling, but from an early age I thought little of evolution and even less as I grew older. The science stories just seemed nonsensical in comparison to the biblical creation understanding. Because of this, I found most dinosaur books and science documentaries an exercise in frustration. But at least I was informed and a critical thinker. I read both sides of the argument to better understand evolution.

Years later, after much reading, study, thought, consideration, discussion of both sides of the argument, and of course prayer, I arrived at the conclusion that biblical creation provided the only logical, reasonable and consistent explanation for the world around us and for what happened in the ancient past. I learned that a grammatical-historical perspective was needed to make sense of the Bible, especially early Genesis. This refers to a ‘plain reading’ of the Bible allowing for the figurative language found throughout. After all, the Bible is not a book of secret knowledge for the learned few to make sense of.

I believe The Genesis Account is an important book that should be read by every pastor, theologian, Bible scholar, student – everyone really. It’s that good! I highly recommend it.

We can trust God's Word completely. Genesis is truthful history from the very first word. Hallelujah!

I borrowed Zero Hour by Clive Cussler on Friday after work and finished it today.....
I should have borrowed the two other books they had by him too :p I forgot how fast I read that kind of books

need---- more.... but the library closes at 1pm on Saturdays. BOOOOO

Wrapping up Wild Horses by Dick Francis. Waiting on two more books from Amazon and plan to start one of them on Monday, if they show up by then.

I want to meditate this verse
by telling that it's like faith without actions.

If we have faith, we must have actions with.
Yes it's good to hear, to listen, to read the Bible,
but we have to speak about it to the others,
to act as God wants us to do.

If we don't like to pray or to come near Jesus
it's because in fact we don't really believe
and we don't care at all. We love to live like this world live.

I read a Clive Cussler book once, it was about Titanic, it was a page turner.

Right now I'm reading (er..not right now cause I'm at work now lol) The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway.

Good stuff, sister! I admit, I've only ever seen the mini-series based on the novel. It was good, but not my favourite Neil Gaiman book. I really enjoyed "Good Omens". Have you read that one? It's hilarious. Terry Prachett co-wrote the book with him.

No... actually the only book I had ever read from him was Sandman... but then a friend of mine decided I was lacking in the "Neil Gaiman" area, and told me to read it... and as a good girl, I'm reading it!! hahahaha

And looking for his books was how I realized that Stardust is his!!! I loved that movie!! Gotta read the book!! :) But I'll put Good Omens on my "to read" list!! :D

Yes, I haven't read "Stardust" either, but the movie was good fun. I enjoyed both "Coraline" the book and "Coraline" the book, but they did differ a little. "Mirrormask" is another favourite. "The Sandman" was a bit all over the shop for me. I loved the concept, the Endless, the depth, the variety. But I found some of the story just too violent or occultic. And the artwork really varied across the stories. Sometimes the art was crap, most of the time it was average; other times it was beautiful. Maybe I'm just tough to please. I'm glad you're putting "Good Omens" onto your To Read list. I think you'll really love it. God bless, sister. :)

I'm reading 'E' by Kate Wrath. I'll read the whole series because this first one is really good. I'm also reading a Beth Moore study (again) 'Believing God'. A book on baking chemistry called "How Baking Works"

I regularly read a few things at a time.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you may want to drop the beth moore book. She is a false teacher who twists scripture. This is only one reference of many. Dont shoot the messenger :)

I pray this blesses your life and gives your at least enough curiosity to seek out truth about her teaching.
