This is a clear working of the Holy Spirit and I wanted to see if this has happened to the rest of you, or if it happens regularly like it does for me.

Whenever I have questions on a subject I pray to God for understanding and within a few hours to within a day later I will pick up the bible and just randomly open it and start reading. Thanks be to God what I was drawn to reading is exactly the answer to what I asked for understanding on. This has happened multiple times in my life !!!

Have you ever experienced this ???

Not very often at all.

This wilderness period is just lasting far too long.

The times you don't seem to hear from God or feel His presence because He's testing you to see if you'll still be faithful to Him without hearing from Him/feeling Him around. It's something all believers experience in their lives as part of their growth in Christ. Some experience wilderness periods more than others and some last far longer than others. That's my experience.

From time to time this happens to me.
And sometimes I'll go to church and someone preaches or testifies on whatever I needed help with.

Okay I see what you are saying and yes there are times that He leaves things unanswered or seems He is not listening, but that is all for producing perseverance in the faith.

I understand, brother. I really do, but this period has just gone on too long. Thanks for understanding. :)

No problem as I have seen this myself and with a number of people who I have talked to who needed a friendly ear to listen to them.

My dad was one of them that felt constantly like he had been abandoned by God, I would sit down and talk to Him everyday how God is there for him and is listening. Sometimes also He does answer just not in the way we want, and sometimes the answer from Him might be no.

That does not mean He loves you any less, it just means He knows what is best for you and when the best time is for things to come to you will be.

Ask about eternal security and sin confession, then tell us what verses He led you to.

I have already done that because I was once in a church that believed in OSAS, and the Holy Spirit not only lead me to multiple verses that show believers being drawn and falling away from the faith and not ending up with eternal life. But the Holy Spirit also lead me to early church history studies and quotes from the 1st and 2nd century Apostles to where they taught just the opposite of that doctrine.

He showed me how eternal security was started by Augustine in the 4th century, and until that time this doctrine was unheard of or taught.

There is even a clear cut scripture from Apostle Paul in Acts 20:28-31 where he clear says that some disciples will be drawn away and not spared by false teachers, and he says for us to remember how he warned night and day in tears.

But this is not the topic of this thread so please stay on the topic, thank you !!!

we live in the wilderness.

between an exodus and an awaited final salvation.

sometimes it seems easier, and others much more difficult.
but God never leaves us, and He makes the long journey profitable to us.
He assures us He will save His people.

to Him be the glory. ♥

A notable example for me happened back in January. I was once part of an internet art group and I felt like I was being convicted to leave that group but I was extremely hesitant to leave. Some of the Christians in that group tried to help me and gave me advice. However, I decided to ask God for guidance on what to do in this extremely difficult decision.

During multiple prayer sessions on this issue, three-five Bible verses came to me. One of which was 1 John 2:15-17 and the other two were from Jeremiah (I lost the original paper that had the specific verses listed) that talked about how people were given unto idols. Upon meditation, I believed that I was being warned to not love the things in the world, that my former art hobby was (likely) sending me to hell, and that most, if not all, of the Christians in that group that tried to give me advice, were fakes.

Of course they were, you're the only true Christian in the world.

If its any consolation mate, I'm going through the same experience as you. It is difficult and has brought out things in me that I didn't know were there that I believe God is wanting to deal with (perhaps through the wilderness) and I thank God for that. I find in those times when I push through, He is always there with open arms ey, always was. Keep going mate, your doing well.

As the the OP, year sometimes years later understanding comes from a question I asked haha. I find I had to learn other things first in order to understand what I was asking. If that makes sense.

Yes I know exactly what you mean by other things coming first, as when I first gave my full trust and love to the Lord I was only interested in prophecy study. The Holy Spirit guided me away from that and showed me that the warnings from Paul needed to be retained and given before that, and after three years of being guided on the instructions of Paul that expounded on what the Lord had taught I was then guided by the Spirit to return to prophecy study.

I experience that as well. Sometimes it's a preacher on Christian radio or Christian TV that just happens to be preaching about something which is exactly what I needed to hear at the time.

Yeah, same here.
There has even been a few times were I'd be having a hard time with something and I'd be at a book store or Walmart, some random person would come up to me and started talking about whatever I was struggling with at the time. I find it amazing how God works.
But I've had times when God didn't show me anything. Amazing enough it still helped me in the long run.

Yes it is so amazing how God by His Holy Spirit works through others as well as ourselves to fulfill His will in edification and helping others in need. I thank Him everyday for what He has done in me and through me.

When growing up I was so shy that I would refuse to speak in front of others, after giving myself fully to God by His Holy Spirit I now find myself standing before groups of people leading prayer groups, bible studies, and even spent hours talking to others to make them feel better. Whenever the Word of God is the subject I can speak for hours on end no matter how many are listening !!!
