Okay, I’ll tell you what I think is the most important thing:

[34] But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sad'ducees, they came together.
[35] And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, to test him.
[36] "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?"
[37] And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.
[38] This is the great and first commandment.
[39] And a second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
[40] On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets." Matt 22:34-40 RSV

I think a lot of people are unaware, or forget, that the great and first commandment is to love the Lord with all our hearts, minds, and souls. That would suggest to me that we need to have a personal relationship with him – walk with him.

Perhaps I should wind the Victrola and put in a new needle.
 
Many people commit the sin of pride. Instead of seeking the Lord’s praise by obeying his commandments, they seek each other’s praise, ignoring the Lord. We don’t want to let ourselves become like that. Jesus said this:

[39] You search the scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness to me;
[40] yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life.
[41] I do not receive glory from men.
[42] But I know that you have not the love of God within you.
[43] I have come in my Father's name, and you do not receive me; if another comes in his own name, him you will receive.
[44] How can you believe, who receive glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from the only God? John 5:39-44 RSV
 
Keep up the discussion, it was definitely a worthwhile one.

Yeah, but isn't Easter all about resurrection? :D

PS: This thread is a mansion with lots of rooms and a lake and a huge park area, feel free to roam it and read books, watch tv, play games, or discuss with res who thinks we should all sit down solemnly with our knitting needles while the men play poker :D
