I know the ones we planted, had 0-3 flowers on them. Some had one
flower as big as a saucer, the others had smaller ones. I don't know
alot about sunflowers, as this was the first time.
It's not that bad on harvesting them, use a combine. It takes the
seeds out, and leaves very little trash. You harvest them when they
turn black, you can touch them the wrong way, they fall apart.
I wouldn't want to pick the seeds out, no way. The crows was
the biggest problem, they love sunflower seeds.
The farmer has been on the loosing end of the stick for many years.
It's a dying breed, as we are already getting quite a bit of our food
from else where.
I know in 5-7 years, we are going to be hurting, with our food source.
They are some things that I can't talk about, thats going to really hurt
America, Canada, and the Uk. The US has no reserves in storage, as
for the grains. Clinton, sold off all the reserves, and shut down that
part of the USDA. Can't say any more, may have said to much already.
