Greetings my brothers & sisters from all parts of the globe!

Since we are all from different parts of the globe. I have found it fascinating to learn what makes your part of the world uniquely different from others, i.e. culture, ideas, habits, diet, fashions, politics, hobbies, sports, church life and general odd things you guys do that makes your country unique.

So enough of me talking. Here's a video that I can relate to, living here in Japan.

Looking forward to hearing your point of views.

Well, in the county I live in (that encompasses about a half dozen fairly large cities) I am never more than around 10 miles from a beach. I live on a peninsula. I think we have more than 18 beaches.

This is Florida USA... about halfway down the state on the West side. And I just checked, we actually have 24 beaches.... about 35 miles of sand, as white and pure as sugar.

My wife and I both lived on the beaches when we were kids.

I think here in the Southern US..there is a culture that has been different than the rest of the nation...but as more and more folks move here, it seems to be changing things...some are good and some are not so good. As far as travel to other nations and cultures, I did most of that when I too young to really appreciate it as I might be able to do now?

I was born in Brazil but have lived a majority of my life in the US of A...but what I love about my home country of Brazil is the simplicity people have so little and yet they're so content with what they have...at least the ones I've met are! They cherish family and the times they spend with them more than anything (which totally rocks as I'm super family oriented :p) But most importantly though the food rocks :) :)

I guess my country looks interesting on the map. With all those big and tiny islands that seems to be floating in the pacific ocean. Philippines is like hawaii they say. Paradise in one word.

Canada, where we have temperature ranges of 80 degrees celsius... in one location. We perfected hockey, and we invented basketball, and Superman, and the Avro Arrow. And Rob Ford (shakes head sadly). We have universal health care, every kind of scenery on earth except tropical, and many wonderful people. We have the largest land area per capita, and share the longest undefended border (with the USA). We have the only flag with a leaf on it. We have bacon, and we share.

You live in Japan? That's awesome! I absolutely love Japan and their culture. It has been my dream to visit one day and I am trying to get on board with a mission program to go there this Spring. I took Japanese for 4 years in High School and studied a little outside of it but I am definitely still not fluent.

I'm not a big fan of Kanadajin though... she just kind of creeps me out sometimes, LOL.

What brought you there?

So... my country is obviously the USA, and while there are things I like about it, and it probably is the place I'd rather live more than anywhere else in the world (all things considered), there are still many things I absolutely hate about our country and society. One is obviously that the government is completely out of control but I won't go there since I could type forever on that subject. But more importantly, despite having a lot of so-called Christians, our society is full of extremely selfish, narcissistic, materialistic, and increasingly unintelligent and uninspired people. Especially down here in Florida, people are so rude and self-absorbed that it's like you don't even exist. The only "culture" young people tend to have is of filthy movies and music and the bar/club scene and being obsessed over sports like football. When it comes to work, most people just try to get away with doing the least amount possible to be considered acceptable or legal - even from so-called professionals! So yeah, I hate this about most Americans and have found most of my inspiration in life from Japanese people (and the Bible/Christ of course).

However, Japan definitely has its problems too. America still has some essential freedoms like being able to own a gun or long knife/sword. In Japan, there are some crazy restrictions (although a lot of that was mandated from the US after the war). Also, because of the smaller size of Japan, their population is more dense. I love the freedom to drive around everywhere in the US and have more space (usually). But as most know, Japan can be kind of too strict about some things. I like to be more relaxed. Although I would say that most Americans are often too relaxed and I agree with a lot of the Japanese culture of modesty, quality, and selflessness (even if it's sometimes faked).

(Sorry if this post sounds jumbled... I've had very little sleep this week.)

Well, Belgium has the best chocolate in the world. And pretty good beers. We've got the biggest sigare in the world. We don't have all the epic food Americans have, but it'll do. We've got an awesome football team. We've got delicious french fries. We "despise" people from the Netherlands. Haha, lol, just kidding! We do have 'dutch' jokes in Belgium (laughing with the dutchies :p)A lot of Asian people visit Belgium as well. They like it. For some reason.

What's interesting about America is that it's so great, people cross shark infested waters in leaky boats and tire tubes to come here, while at the same time, many Americans who live better than kings and queens actually hate this country.

Indonesia has the second longest coastline in the world. We've got the most delicious food in the world (which is rendang from Sumatera). Indonesia has more than 17,000 islands. If you love visiting beaches, you definitely have to visit Indonesia. The marine parks in Indonesia are really beautiful and they offer a very interesting underwater experience. Also the beaches are very suitable for surfing, snorkelling, and stuffs. And, Indonesian people are friendly according to the tourists :)

Hmmm

Well, Norway is fairly small, but long, so there is a bit of a difference between the north and the south, though not enough to drastically affect the climate.

I guess we are most known for the midnight sun of the north.
We also have a very long coastline, so traditionally the main way to make a living was fishing (and also farming).
Inland and far north the winters get quite cold, at the coastline further south it is more... slushy and windy :p

Most people are Christians of various genres, some Jews, and a few Muslims, Buddhists etc, and for course atheists and agnostics, but Norway is still a "Christian" country.

foodwise we, like most other countries nowdays have access to cuisine from all over the world.
Traditionally we eat much bread , potatoes and fish. It is being replaced by taco, pizza, spicy casseroles etc

I personally believe that cold and short winters days make us a bit crazy :p

Yep!! Brazil's got a family oriented culture... that's why I always find it so hard to grasp the concept of parents wanting their kids to move out right after high school, while my dad tried to "trick" me into staying home after I was 30... huahuahuahua

But Brazil is a huge and wonderful country!! People are great and open and warm, and it's quite easy to feel welcome wherever you go, specially in the north and northeast reagions...

People are absolutely crazy and fanatic about soccer, to the point that during Brazil games in the World Cup, people do not work, and there are no classes!!! Everything closes so people can watch the games!! hahahaha Except bars and pubs and places where people can go watch the games!!

The beaches are wonderful, and the wildlife is beautiful!!!

It's a nice place to visit!! You just need to be mindful of places you go in the big cities... unfortunately the violence has been growing out of proportions... :( it makes me sad!! :(
