What's interesting about America is that it's so great, people cross shark infested waters in leaky boats and tire tubes to come here, while at the same time, many Americans who live better than kings and queens actually hate this country.
Hey!

You meant Cubans, don´t you? :p

If I would do that, I would chose Aruba, instead. He! He!

We tend to have a pretty diverse demographic, particularly here in Los Angeles. This makes for an interesting (maybe that's not the right word) history, an interesting (maybe that's not the right word, again) social dynamic, and, at least, a very diverse food selection (maybe that's part of why we're one of the most obese nations in the world).

That is beautiful.

I need to get out more but my parents don't want me opening the cellar door. :p

I'm from Saint Lucia. It's gorgeous, but then again what Caribbean island isn't? We speak a French creole called patois here which only two other countries on earth share. Oh, they say we're home to the world's only drive-in volcano.

Not so much country…but the city I grew up in Brantford is home to Wayne Gretzky and the first phone call and invention of the telephone took place there. Also unfortunately was the first city in Canada to fluoridate drinking water. Pretty cool I guess.

Peace

Talking about volcano, Indonesia has a volcano under the sea. It will be very dangerous if it explodes, but fortunately we haven't got any signs of it. Indonesia has the most Moslem citizens in the world (if it hadn't changed :p) but in my hometown Christians are appreciated well and are treated just as the same as other religions. One of Indonesian musical instrument, Gamelan, is the main ispiration of Claude Debussy's songs. Indonesians mostly can speak in 2 languages since they were born (the first language is Indonesian and the second is the language of the area)

One of the best things in Indonesia is its tropical climate. We only have 2 seasons here and the sun is always shining no matter what :p
Those facts make me feel proud of Indonesia :)

I'm going to go against the grain here and actually *gasp* say something positive about the USA.

As most people know, I am from and was born in another country but was adopted into a white American family. Sure, you get some people who don't understand, look at you funny, and question if you know what you're talking about ("How can THOSE people be your parents???")

But I have to say, after growing up and learning about other cultures, all of which have their good and bad, I would not have been able to have been as accepted as I am here in the USA in several other countries, and most especially Asian countries. I would have been a social outcast.

Asia is very much into bloodlines. I have friends and family with similar backgrounds as mine and even Asians here tell them they are "not real human beings" because they have no "roots" or blood ties. Adoption in my birth country was often illegal at times because no one wanted to bring "bad blood" into the family. The laws may have changed, but the attitudes have not, and probably won't for several generations, if ever.

I am very thankful to live in the United States of America. I have a family who sees me as family, not a dirty outcast who should grovel on my feet the rest of my life. I have friends, and they see me, not a bloodline or a social class. I can go to whichever church I choose, and I can worship my God whenever I want.

Some of these things may have been possible in several other countries as well. But for some reason, God sent me to the good old USA, and while there are many other amazing countries I would love to visit, this, for me, is home.

Truth be told, I love my country. (USA) And one thing that I think stands out is that whenever disaster strikes anywhere in the world, Americans always step up to help. My country might seem a bit crazy to the rest of the world, but when it comes to helping victims of disaster, we come together as a nation and aim to make a difference. God bless the USA.

that is because the Americans who speak the loudest always say that USA is the biggest, best, bravest country in the world, in way sounding as if they think all other countries are bad :p I know you guys don't :D

Hehe, the volcano is actually dormant. The crater caved in some time ago and now the scientists say because it is wide open, it isn't building any pressure and probably won't blow it's top any time soon. (we hope)
