Yep, that is what they believe, but they are not even aware that this is their belief. It is a very subtle deception. The best lie is the truth, meaning something it was never intended to mean.
The bible is such a wonderful and great gift from God, and it is from God. But the bible does not teach us. I am uncomfortable with the song which says that Jesus loves us, this I know, for the bible tells me so. Yes, the in the bible it is written that Jesus loves us, but until the Spirit came and filled me with His love, I just thought that I knew that He loves me. Now I know that He loves me, by His Spirit. Is the song wrong? No! Is it the whole truth? Again, no. Can I understand the fact that Jesus loves me without the Holy Spirit? Again, no, not in the complete understanding that comes by the Spirit. And does this revelation from the Spirit contradict the scripture which says that Jesus loves me? Heaven forbid. It is actually the proof of the written word.

I will leave you with the following from the "real" Lord's prayer.
Jesus is praying on the way to Gethsemene. At this point in His prayer, he has been praying for the apostles.
John 17: 20 "My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: 23 I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.
Verse 20: That's you and me brother. We believe because of the gospel message preached by the apostles. Not because of a feeling. And that message is found in the Bible, and nowhere else.
