A well-known preacher gets fired....

Dear Pastor J,

It has come to our attention that a number of things you do in your "off time" are unbecoming of a minister of our denomination. In the past several weeks, we have received reports that you have been seen with:
Prostitutes
Thieves
Pan Handlers
Drug Users
Drunks/Drinking Yourself
Eating Gluttonously

In addition to your activities, we have noticed a sharp decline in your sermons. Our congregants want to know who you think they should vote for, and what sort of stance you take on the current war on Christianity vis-a-vis the legalization of same-sex marriage. Your refusal to talk about these topics is disconcerting.

Pastor, we all have temptations, but leading a flock like ours means you have to abstain from yours. As if your current company weren't enough, we've also been receiving reports that you have:
Eaten dinner with more than one prostitute.
Told Elder Peter to "put away his gun".
Quite socialistically made a little boy share his food with all those hungry people that didn't think far enough ahead to bring their own.

Pastor, we are a certain type of congregation here. We don't believe God wants us to give all of our hard earned money and time away to just anyone. They must at least be in attendance at the fellowship weekly, and joining in with their tithes and offerings.

Which brings us to our final point, Pastor J.

We have been checking the financials, and noticed that you've never given a dime in the church offering. Pastor, that is where we draw the line. We can tolerate your liberal attitudes about things like violence and sex, but if you can't be counted on to obey the word of God and bring your tithes into the storehouse, well then, Pastor we are left with no alternative.

As of today, you are dismissed from Pastoring this church. We hope that you find something more suited to the style of faith you want to live. We will be praying for your soul.

Signed,

Board of Elders, First Church of America

Willie, If this post didn't have your name on it I still WOULD HAVE known it came from you.

Okay, the pastor did use poor judgment at times. That can definitely be argued. No doubt.
But he also operated according to love, and mercy, and grace.

Well, if I were a leader in that scenario, I would have gotten the facts from the pastor. Then addressed those congregants who saw and made suggestive accusations.

The money, that would never have been brought up.

Fired? Nope.

Preaching topics?
False Accusers.
He Eats With Sinners.
Ye Are the Light of the World.
Vote Conservative.
Willie, I guess I'm one of those congregants. I very well could be. I'm going to go and listen. I will. (The video.)

Sorry guys. That wasn't meant to be a judgment. It was just the first thing I thought after reading the opening post.

I knew it was Jesus when I read a few words.....because He is God and God doesn't do things the way we humans THINK they should be done.... God doesn't categorize us other than in the sinner column and we are a one size fits all there..... We humans try constantly to put God in a box and He is far to big to be in one.....PS God would say make your own box as He created everything and we have created nothing....

God is so wonderful and His Love so BIG that I will never be able to begin to thank Him enough for what He has done for me....Yes, He would be considered a radical a nonconformist.....I want to be just like Him.....HE ROCKS MY WORLD!!!

I thought I answered the question of who they were accusing.....34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”[a] And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.

I need to write more plainly.

If it's not you and I to bring the news to the sinners, the broken hearted, those whom are wounded, used, such as the prostitutes, drug addicts, etc., who would bring the news to them? Jesus did! Being a follower of God the Almighty, should we not follow the footsteps of His Son's?

I got it was Jesus before I saw pastor J. I just thought it was too obvious, so why mention it.

Next time I'll bring up every cotton pick'n thing I see, discover, not find! and everything else in between. I'll even make stuff up. For crying out loud!

Let your wife know I didn't catch on until the paragraph that started with "Pastor." I'm thinking, "What on earth?"
