Oh is that so? so tell me how I misread you? you wrote 5 lines of words. What you wrote was not very complicated. nor deep that one needed to carefully see what you were saying, if it took me more than two minutes to respond. I have more issues that you can fathom.

and by the way, why is it you never seem to answer any of my responses. with actually content, but only seem to wish to judge or assume you know what I mean (a strawman)

No, you misread Notmebuthim. And there is no way you could have gone back, reread what he said, think about it, find what I said again, and then respond to what I said in two minutes.

What part of I know how to spot reading problems aren't you getting?

Yes and no. He did say some of that. He didn't say other. (Well, he did, but had you bothered to keep reading without that hair up your bum, you would have found out he was kidding, knowing full well some people -- say YOU -- would really believe that.) Like I said. You don't read. You skim forever arming yourself with you're next prove-a-point.

You yell at someone saying they can't read. then prove it is you who can not read (ever heard the word hypocrite)

He may not have said BOTH in this thread, or even today, BUT HE HAS SAID THEM BEFORE. Which is what I said to begin with. so I will sit for a minute and try to let you take your foot out of your mouth.

Tenth grade reading level here plus a degree in Communications/Sec. Ed. (Tenth grade sounds bad, but the truth is you don't need a higher level unless you read academia and I'm anti-academia, so intentionally didn't learn higher than 10th grade. That and most of what is written today is at a 7th grade reading level.) You're really going to keep trying to tell someone who actually learned how to spot reading comprehension problems enough to get my degree into buying that you don't have one?

I'm not merely saying that as a person. I'm diagnosing you as someone with the degree to diagnose this one. If I had you as a student, you'd get a D most of the time. You skim the material because you think you can guess where it's going all the time. There is innate ability in you to guess above average on a true/false test, but clearly not enough ability in you to Ace a true/false test just by reading the beginning and guessing the answer. After half a year of you playing this game with me as a teacher, I'd keep failing you until you finally realize you have to sit back and really read to understand what was said vs. what you assume it will say.

Warning: Occasionally, when going to a social networking site about any topic, you're going to run into people who truly understand odd things. "Experts," if you will. (Although I hesitate to use that one, since the real experts keep going with their education to define themselves as experts. Still, I do know this subject more than most on this site and was trained to spot reading problems.) It's just plain silly to call them on stuff they truly do know to prove you don't know it at all.

the rest is just another aspect of a strawman argument. Alot of words which have no meaning, and do not support your theory, because you are doing the very thing yo
u are trying to judge me of doing. And have failed to prove I even have done it.

You have been here since when? April of this year? (almost 6 months)

Just me has been here since march of 2013 (2 years and 5 months)

and your going to tell me what Just me said 2 years before you even showed up?

wow!!!

It was not my intention to derail or confuse the thread. Perhaps I did misunderstand what the OP was saying.

Now, I want some popcorn AND peanuts. :D

Pick a side. Hopefully that side is truth but you keep going back and forth. What a mess, of doctrine. Also that verse is speaking of the new, of Jesus being that shed blood for the covenant. This post is somewhat accurate, however some of what Jesus said was OT truth to people under Law prior to His death and resurrection. Somethings hinted at post-cross truths.

Sigh... atwhatcost, you're so accusatory and your tone is horrendous towards eternally-gratefull. Chill out.

So what I understand is that you think I need to choose what part of God's word to accept, and in so doing I will not be bothered as I continue to neglect the rest of it according to the priority in which I choose. If you see a waffling in me by your own understanding, it is because you have chosen one side of God's word against the other. "That's a mess, of doctrine."

Ok got to get into this .......a post said that he (God) gave us the physical then Jesus gave us the spiritual?

Basically this is true. That's why Jesus taught in parables comparing the natural with the spiritual for our understanding. Nevertheless there are still some that fall into this category. I quote

Son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of a rebellious house, which have eyes to see, and see not; they have ears to hear, and hear not: for they are a rebellious house. Ezekiel 12:2

This is getting rediculous. How did notmebut him come into the equation. we are and were talking about just me. (in fact you responded to something I said of just me.

so tell me, How did I misread notmebuthim, And I even agreed with what he said.

or is this just another strawman?

lol. You did not derail the thread at all. Just someone who loves to attack me doing one of her attacks. and using you to try to discredit me..

And hey, while you at it. can we have some cotton candy with the popcorn and peanuts??

when are you going to prove that Ken is saying that we do not need to know and understand ANY aspect of Gods word?

As a child, I followed my earthly dad because he knew exactly what I feared the most and promised that as my punishment.

As an adult, I followed him as much as I could because I love him. I still knew his rules. They're still part of who he is. (I still won't walk on his grass. Not because I might damage the grass, but because he doesn't like people walking on his perfect grass. lol)

I follow God-Dad because his rules are perfect and show who he is and what he expects of me. I don't follow his rules perfectly, but he loves me. He gave me those rules so I can see him, because he doesn't literally hold my hand for me to follow. When all is right in my world, I know he is ahead of me if I do as he says. He's there to pick me up, when I fall. He's there to remind me not to turn left right there because rule number X tells what happens if I turn left there, what trouble I can fall into, and what happens to me when I turn from him. He's clearer in his understanding then my earthly father ever was. His rules make sense. His rules tell me who he is and what he wants from me.

AND he loves me.

THAT'S what his rules have done for me. THAT's why OT IS NT. Jesus fulfilled those rules because we won't. Jesus is those rules because he is God. So absolutely not! I am not turning from those rules to satisfy those who think I'm busy thinking those rules are "rituals and rites." I saw how much God loves me. It was on that bloody cross because that's his rule too!

Wow! This reveals a lot and the reason you don't want to let go of the law.

Especially this.
"His rules make sense. His rules tell me who he is and what he wants from me."
God's law doesn't tell you who he is. They don't reveal his nature. They reveal a person's sinful nature. The law was given because of transgression, not to reveal the nature of God. The scripture is very clear that the law was given to reveal your sin to you.

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. 1 Timothy 6:12

Where in the world do you get this false accusation from ???

You just can not stop with passing false allegations on people when they disagree with you can you ??? Back on ignore you go !!!

Also wanted to add as my final last statement to you, speaking against somebody for attacking you when you constantly attack others.......................................That is funny ha, ha, ha, ha, ha !!!

how about cake and ice cream on this warm muggy day, that seems like the best.

Let's see. He never said following law saves us nor does he believe we're stuck "under the law." You keep saying he did and swear we're not under the Law (as if that defines anything whatsoever other than simplifying really doesn't work.) What did I miss?

What did you miss?

Nothing. It was how you interpreted what you read and reached a false conclusion. Let me use his own words to paint it clearly for you.

#1. "
I was just wondering how people can demean God's character be saying God did away with this or that of certain things He said previously in Biblical history."

What, atwhatcost, do you suppose that means? To me, what I see is someone who does not comprehend what it means to rightly divide the word of God. To rightly divide certain truths that are only applicable to a certain people or spoken group. It is a lack of acknowledgement that the cross changed things, Jesus changed things. It is a willful ignorance of being under a new covenant that cannot and does not mix with the old way of self-righteousness. Yet, he wishes to make a point that it is demeaning God's character to imply God did away with things He spoke, yet fails to realize whom the Lord was speaking to (under a covenant of old).

#2. "
I read in posts quite often when referring to God's spoken word that He did away with it.
“God did away with that.”
“God did away with that.”
“That's been made void.”
“That part of His word has been abolished.”

Again, rightly dividing the Word. When people say these things, they are right. There are things that are of the old that don't apply in the new. There are parts of His word that have been fulfilled/abolished and therefore we no longer are under (such as the Law). For example, eating pork. We can eat pork, though it may not be the most edifying for our health. Its against the Law. Yes the underlying truth is that it isn't a healthy food choice, but we are no longer subject to this Law. No one is arguing against the Law having beneficial information with in it. We are arguing the must obey/requirement of walking out the Law (all of it).

#3.
Will we ever get past the carnal mindset by consistently labeling things as carnal when we should actually be searching diligently for the spiritual truth in all God has ever spoken?

This is his point. We agree with this point, at least I do. We ought to look at the spiritual truths of God's word in its entirety. We shouldn't ignore the OT and say its obsolete, acting as if there isn't anything to be gained in reading it. He is one hundred percent right on this. If this is his one and only point there would be no disagreement. However, the implication of taking issue with people saying certain parts of God's word is abolished or void makes it seem as if we must follow what is being said. This is wrong, we aren't under Law, we are under the new covenant of grace.

So as you see, read in between the lines and follow the logical conclusion one would reach in thinking that nothing is abolished/fulfilled. We would not get to enjoy Red Lobster. lol

The Mosaic written ordinances of the Old Covenant pointed to Christ by showing us our sinful ways and need for a Savior, and the fruits of the Holy Spirit tell us how to walk in the New Covenant !!!

see. Now I need to repent.

That should have been BEN, not KEN.

See how one letter can cause all kinds of strife. and how if one does not humble himself and admit he may have made a mistake. he is useless.

I admit, I made an error. Forgive me.

Our Father's instructions will last in us because we love Him. If we don't love Him we could care less about His instructions. Some don't care, others do. Hats off to you sis!

Therefore thou shalt love the Lord thy God, and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his judgments, and his commandments, alway. Deuteronomy 11:1

For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. 1 John 5:3
