hello, fellow brothers & sisters. I'm a sincere Christian who has strived to live for the Lord and do what's right, regardless of what's going on around me. a few years ago I made a terrible mistake by watching a very sexual movie, and I believe that has opened the door to a porn addiction which has also led to a masturbation addiction.

I truly have no one to talk to about this because of how utterly shameful and disgusting this sin is. it's a vicious cycle..I notice I could go up to 2 weeks on a 'righteousness spree,' but end up struggling with this powerful sexual urge which causes me to fall. I've prayed about this so much, fasted, rebuked these bad thoughts, even had people pray for me (without telling them the Specific problem), and I'm Still struggling with this without any real sign of hope.

I know God is able to deliver me from this, but I really don't know what to do at this point..I need a Miracle! Whoever could pray for me, I'd really appreciate it. If there's any guy near my age or older who has been delivered from this hell and could counsel me, that would truly be awesome.

Thanks in advance

You are not alone in this struggle to free yourself from what you accurately define as a vicious cycle. The best thing to do is to find something wholesome to fill this void in your life. What you are going through is quite common. With God, there is always hope. Jesus understands the human condition full well. Give this struggle over to the Lord. Welcome to CC.

I think you should start by loosening the chain around your own neck because it only makes you want to lash out even more. When you do these things don't be so hard on your self. When we are hard on our selves we don't want to go to god we feel to ashamed and we start calling ourselves names. Try by reminding yourself the feeling you have right after you've done it. Also once my minister told me "you can defeat a thought with another thought". Telling yourself its not worth it repeatedly doesn't help. He said When you come into the moment of temptation pickup your bible and read and read and read. Its kind of hard to want to have sexual desire while your reading gods word read until the desire is gone and Matthew is probably the best book to start with.

A long time ago my friend tried this thing where she wanted to stop sinning all together (yeah kind of hard) she would beat her self up whenever she made a mistake this is the worst way to go she winded up desiring to sin more than ever. Don't focus on the sin focus on Christ when you focus on the sin you want it more, but when you focus on Christ you are focusing on the light at the end of the tunnel. As long as you continue to focus on that light no matter how many times you trip you wont loose direction because you will see that light. The closer you get to the end you may stumble more but don't lose that focus. Tell yourself (its in his hands) dust your knees get up and continue walking. eventually you are out of the tunnel and your praising god not only for the finish but for the journey which is now you testimony. I'm praying for you it will all work out in the end. :)

I admire your openness to bring it out into the light.
This is right, what does scripture say, "confess your sins together and pray for one another", its what you are doing. bringing it into the light give no where for satan to hide, keeping it to yourself piles up the guilt and Jesus died so your guilt can be nailed to the cross. THERE IS NO SHAME FOR YOU IN CHRIST JESUS, "When you make His sacrifice an offering for your sin, He shall see His seed". Stand in this.

Greetings Excelsior,

As others have posted, you are not alone in this, for many have or are going through this same problem. This was a problem for me for many years and though I would fulfill the desire of my flesh, my spirit would always be grieved deeply. And if you are grieved in your spirit over this it is because the seed of God remains in you. It is the flesh warning against the spirit and the spirit against the flesh. Now if this issue didn't bother you, then that would be a problem. It is because you are in agreement with God regarding sin and have repentant heart and because the new man in Christ desires to do what is righteous. Sexual immorality took away any joy in my life. It was like I was being held hostage, for lack of a better word. I knew that living a sexually immoral life leads to death, but I never seemed to be able to break free of it completely. Finally, I came to my end. I couldn't take it anymore! I was determined to remove sexual immorality from my life completely. One day I prayed to God saying "If I continue in this it is either going to kill me or you are going to help me to break free of this."

After I prayed that, I was determined to do whatever I had to do to break free of that pattern of life and God was there helping me, because I was serious about it! I had to completely sever myself from dating, because being in a relationship would just continue to expose me to the opportunity of being intimate. So as I said, I chose to cut off dating completely and I always had to be on my guard, because the flesh is always ready to take control. Anytime I fell during that period when I was wrestling to break away, I would not hesitate to go to my knees and confess. As I am sure that you know, the thoughts come to you after you have sinned and we have a tendency to put off prayer because of how we are feeling, ashamed, degraded, hopeless. Don't put it off! Confess it immediately and continue in your fight to remove this from your life. Of course the powers of darkness are going to be doing all that they can do to deter you, whispering in your spiritual ear telling you how terrible and shameful you are and because of that to put off praying because you're not worthy. Regarding this, no matter how shameful you feel, no matter how many times you fail in your struggle, keep falling to your knees before God and confessing it and continue to pray for him to break that sexually immoral pattern. He will do it!

In the book of Revelation at the end of each letter to the church, Jesus gives a promise to the overcomer. To overcome means to get the victory over, to prevail, which means that we are in a struggle, a fight! We are wrestling with something! It is the sinful nature that we are struggling to overcome. If your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off. If your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out. Now of course the Lord was not speaking literally of maiming ourselves, but to do whatever we need to cut those things out of our lives that impede or interfere with our relationship with God.

The other thing when going though this is that, once you get to where you are getting control of your flesh, then the sexually immoral thoughts and day dreams come and that most likely from the powers of darkness, for they want to keep you in a sexually immoral state. You have to make it a point to not entertain those thoughts or dreams when they come. When those thoughts come, don't give them the time of day. Push them out! Sexual immorality is probably one of the most difficult issues among Christian's and that because it is the most pleasurable to the flesh. God created all of our sexual feelings for our enjoyment if we perform them according to his will, which is in a commitment of marriage between a man and a woman. It is when we enjoy them outside of his will that we sin, by self pleasuring, adultery, sex without being married, same-sex, etc.

When God sees that you are serious and determined to escape this, he will be there for you to give you freedom from this sin.

I will definitely keep you in prayer.
