I do my best to hold the door for people right behind me and especially the older people although most of the time the guy corrects me and says that's my job so that's where I thank them and go through the door. The reason why I do my best to open the door for others is because I know how it feels to have someone slam the door right on me and I wouldn't want that for anyone.

Yeah I do.

Sometimes I've had people get mad at me for doing it.

Sometimes if you hold the door open too long, the bugs come in.

But I'm not naming any names.

John 10:7 Jesus is the door for the sheep. I will hold that door always.

The Pharisees shut the door to those wanting to enter the Kingdom of heaven. Matthew 23.

Yes, I do hold the door. I try to lead others to Him. I try to show it as being open.

It's polite. Carol, that's so basic. It is. Just down to earth. Simple. Easy. It's polite. Ain't no issue there. Even a grumpy old fart atheist can't argue with It's polite.

Unfortunately polite has been swept out the back door!

I'm from California, folks.

They're idiots. Really. Many, many, many rude people.
:(

That's just sad... that's why so many people just stoped being nice to each other... :(

But if you stop being nice for fear of what others will do, than you let those rude people have it their way... :)

I remember this one lady at work... I would greet her with a smile and a "good morning" and she would just give me a blank (almost annoyed) look and she would look the other way...

It took me a few months... but eventually she started to greet me back... hehehehe :D

I'm the type of person to smile at such people and ask How come you don't wave or say hi? That's in cases such as you've mentioned.
If I don't ask, I'll get perturbed. And eventually, no more greeting.
You have patience.

I just stand there and wait for someone else to come along to open the door for ME. Sometimes I have to wait for hours. DAYS, even.

You can imagine that I don't accomplish a whole lot this way.

...fiiiiiine. Yes, I hold the door for people.

I know I was on a date with a guy and I corrected him on something and he refused to open the car door for me and then he expected me to hold his hand on the way home and I refused. It's not like I was too excited to get in the car with him especially since he liked to drive like a wild man. There was no second date, as I told him to lose my number.

Now that's funny. It is. Oh, not that you have to wait for hours and days. Just that you...uhm, never mind.

Okay, it's funny. But I'm sorry you have to wait so long. Some businesses are not open on weekends. So what if you...never mind again.

I'm done.

Funny it is.

Cmariah, wow! how have you been? I always wondered what happened to you. I'm a changed man.

My driving is much better these days. By the way, can you reimburse me for your portion of the tab that evening? I'm a little low on cash.

I do, all of the time, for everyone.

I like to hold it open for those people who are 40-50 feet from the door....l just stand there with a look of "are you coming, or what?"
They have to do that mini-jog to the door.

Thats me, helping America get it's exercise......one shopper at a time. :)

Well, I am happy to hear you are a changed man.
As far as a reimbursement, the check is in the mail and I could add interest to it that is if you want. But one question how much do you charge for tap water?

Oh, sorry. I thought you were someone else. Several women have told me to lose their number. The tap water...now I know. Sorry. Yeah, the tab that evening was a pittance.

(By the way, his driving...probably trying to impress you. Glad there was no accident, no hurt, no injuries.)
