had a girl from my college days say the same thing to me...except she threw in a feminist twist..."do you not think I'm strong or capable enough to get my own door and I need a man to do it for me". So I politely apologized pushed the door closed and sat on the bench inside and watched while she put the box she was holding down opened the door picked the box back up and did this awkward hold the door so it doesn't close ordeal...I know what yall are going to say...I'm a horrible person...but since when does holding the door for someone suggest I'm belittling or putting them down in any way?
Mo don't let the feminist keep you from doing what you know is right...if it makes a feminist mad? Good :)

yeeeeeeeeeears ago, when i was dating, the guy lived in another state, right? when he would visit me, he would get frustrated because i would always open my own doors. not because i was like "i can do it myself!" but because i was so used to doing it myself. lol

haha that's great. It is weird to think that for a simple door opening . I definitely don't mean anything bad or like that; I just don't want people waiting on me if it's not necessary, not that I don't appreciate it lol.

I don't mind guys holding the door open for me... why would I???

I like when people are nice to me... :)

Unless a guy offers to carry the groceries to the car and I don't know him... I don't want anyone near me while I'm entering the car... o_O

Im not sure about the guy who goes out of his way to open the car door thing ...my mom married a guy like that and he turned out to be a freak ...it was just a cover ..a mask for others to see. Since then and with all the womens lib stuff ...I don't really see the car door thing as healthy?

I like it... it's a gentleman like behaviour... I like gentlemen... :)

It's not that I need them to do.it... but if they do, it's nice!!! :)

Of course, if it's just for show, then it's no good... After all nothing good comes from a lie... but if it's done out of care, then it's wonderful!!! :)

I drive... but if I'm going out with my boyfriend, I'd rather he is driving... :) if the guy is tired and all I can drive, but it's usually the exception...

I agree with Carol. I think it's super sweet for a man to open the car door. It shows that he's respectful and willing to go after her heart.

Of course he has to be genuine about it. I can imagine there are some men that do it just to get the girl.

My concern is not for a guy to steal the car or the groceries... those are easily replaced... the problem is that it's much easier for him to do some bad thing with me... to get me in the car and take me somewhere isolated... and rapists and creeps, unfortunately, those are everywhere...

So a lot of you girls hold doors open for strangers?

When an unknown girl opens a door for me,
I walk up to her with big crazy eyes,
and in broken English I say,
"In my country this mean we are engage.
I love for you also, you are so beautiful."

: )

It's a great line.
And I only get arrested occasionally.

Yeah, no sweat. It's only a misdemeanor.
