No. It was possible physically but impossible spiritually or men, but it would profit nothing to physically do it when spiritually left undone.
that should read "for men".

i'm trying to go from an android tablet to an ipad and so far the experience hasn't been that wonderful...browsers, keyboards etc.

This then again is where you would be focusing to much on a physical aspect instead of the spiritual aspect of what Jesus was saying.

When Jesus was telling them to pluck out their eye or cut off their hand it was not to be taken in actually physically doing that.

What He was actually trying to show was the importance for us to eliminate all sin from our lives, and do away with the things that could cause us to stumble and sin.

You make a good point so allow me to expand. The perpetrator in at least 2 instances would lose their investment, and their productivity if they cause another to be injured. The person injured would be set free. Turning the other cheek is based on a tradition during that day. If a person slapped another person as to demean their character it was a backhanded slap showing their own superiority. By turning the other cheek the slapper would be forced to hit with an open hand if using the same hand to slap. The openhanded slap showed the onlookers that both the slapper and the person being slapped where of the same status. Therefore the free person in the OT being set free is of the same status as the person that hurt him or her, and the NT cheek turning is the same in relationship. Therefore, by turning the other cheek, we are set free.

Scripture as follows, showing a small part of a bigger picture concerning the eye for an eye thing.

Exodus 21:24-27
[SUP]24 [/SUP]Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,
[SUP]25 [/SUP]Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.
[SUP]26 [/SUP]And if a man smite the eye of his servant, or the eye of his maid, that it perish; he shall let him go free for his eye's sake.
[SUP]27 [/SUP]And if he smite out his manservant's tooth, or his maidservant's tooth; he shall let him go free for his tooth's sake.

Ok saints I have a question that has to do with the law if this thread is about it

This "thing" of wanting to void out a part of God's words, that I consider false doctrine can be explained as follows.
1. The law and commandments contained in the Old covenant must to be made void and abolished because man has refused to use the law lawfully in order to make it good.
2. Therefore, it's a faulty covenant because man fell short.
3. This situation of past history justifies the rejection of a substantial part of God's spoken words.
4. Therefore it's God's spoken words that have been proven to fail because man didn't live up to the commandments contained in the Old Covenant.

Is this concept not totally ridiculous? I think so

It's not just the law, even if the law is sustainable part of the spoken word of God. This thread is about ALL of God's spoken word, not just one aspect. Nevertheless it isn't wrong to talk about certain aspects of the spoken word for sure.

Keep in mind that a covenant is a container of its contents. That's very important as to not cause confusion.

Ok saints with your permission I will post my weekness in this matter in hopes of a bit of education.

Dear lady. I'm not being nearly as harsh as you think . I suppose you think that because of my failure to completely communicate my thought. All I'm really saying is that you can trust your born again spirit a lot more than you think.

I mean really, is there any truly born again person that would honestly say that it's fine to lie, fornicate, bear false witness, worship other Gods, kill, steal, or break any of what we know as the commandments just because they have never read that commandment? Even if they have sin in their lives, I believe that as they read and study the word and get to know God, the Holy Spirit will deal with them to correct it. At least that's how it has been in my life.

I'm not telling anyone to forget the Bible and just do whatever feels right to them. What I would like to convey though is that we need to develop a closer relationship with the Holy Spirit and learn to hear from him. I would much rather we learn to follow the Holy Spirit than have every Christian know all 613 of the laws. If we could only learn this profound truth, the Holy Spirit would lead us much better in every area of life.

Paul understand this too. Not only as shown in romans 1. But romans 2 also.

Romans 2:14
For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law.

Also shows how abraham and Noah and others could be seen as doing the same thing, yet the law had not even been given yet.

Okay, please understand we may never play nice together. This isn't about that.

Please understand, as angry as I get with you sometimes, I don't think that means you're not saved or a believer. This isn't about that.

And you do like to talk a lot. So do I, so that's not the problem.

And you probably haven't noticed what's going on yet, to get what I'm about to ask of you, so I'm not angry you responded to BarlyGurl.

May I ask one thing for now? Not to change you at all, but to hopefully keep this conversation going on between Ben and Just-Me? Could you wait to see this conversation end, before going back to doing what so many have been doing all along? We've got a real live trying-to-understand-each-other dialog going, and all these asides (including this one lol) is distracting that. I'd like to see this debate going on so we can all learn what Just-Me believes.

Mind doing that one thing? And then we're free to go back at each other's throats.

Deal?
In case you had not noticed. I was already doing that. I did not respond to just me for awhile, even though I so badly wanted too. Especially with some serious problems I still have with what he is doing.

I responded to someone else. I also waited to see if she (or anyone else) responded to the one thing I have shown over and over, yet no one has ever responded to. As you can see, I gave her the benefit of the doubt for a few also. I look forward to see if she or anyone responded to that, or just continued to attack me

so let's review what we have learned.
Why did God make the law?

Galations 3.

[SUP]19 [/SUP]What purpose then does the law serve?

It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator. [SUP]20 [/SUP]Now a mediator does not mediate for one only, but God is one.

[SUP]21 [/SUP]Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law. [SUP]22 [/SUP]But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. [SUP]23 [/SUP]But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed. [SUP]24 [/SUP]Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. [SUP]25 [/SUP]But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.

Do we believe paul. Or do we thing God gave it to show them how to live righteous lives. as some want us to believe (yet in over 4000 years, it has failed to do that, and we wonder why)

The Law was given not because the Lord decided to do so but because the Israelites requested it through their boasting. They no longer wanted a relationship by grace but merit. They placed the Law upon themselves. They boasted that they could do all that the Lord required of them and so the Lord gave them what they wanted, of course in mind that it would bring them to an end of themself and lead them to their need for the savior, Jesus Christ. You know, His plan of reconciliation. :)

[h=1] Deuteronomy 27:26[/h] [SUP]26 [/SUP]‘Cursed is the one who does not confirm all the words of this law by observing them.’

“And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’

they rebelliously created all sorts of addendums to make an outward show of following the law.... whilst ignoring the law-giver.

Actually this was not done until after they returned from babylon. Which was many years after they confirmed and agreed to obey every word of the law.

Grace= God's unmerited favor.
GRACE is not a magic coating. It is God's gift to us to APPROPRIATE being born again.
Renewing the mind... is also not a MAGIC THING that happens when we are born again... we are TOLD to renew our minds... which INCLUDES repentance.
Repentance is not a single action but a REPETIITVE one where we CONTINUE to discover what GOD says about any given subject pertaining to life through study of the scriptures and then choose to AGREE with what God says. It is very simple, I thought abortion was a woman's choice before BA... AFTER BA the spirit showed me thru the WORD that that was wrong and I REPENTED (renounced) my wrong/sinful thoughts and agreed with God on the matter.
A good way to RETARD spiritual growth is by FAILING to repent... without repentance... you never RENOUNCE the wrong/sinful thinking/idea/atitude/action...merely shove it to the back of the "filing cabinet".... where it will SURFACE AGAIN... because it was never renounced thus never REMOVED/CLEANSED from the individual.

Thats not the issue.

the issue is people who do not have the law have shown that they can do what is right, and not sin like the world.

People has shown you this also. (I even tried to explain it but no one responded. I guess I have to do it again how this can be done?

The issue is NOT disobedience, the issue is what consititutes obedience and how is one obedient.

Except that you are ENTIRELY looking at the OT from a carnal perspective and NOT from the spiritual view you SHOULD have as a born again believer.

So you can read peoples minds now and know someones heart?

Your not helping this conversation any, or adding to it. All you doing is what you always do, condemn.

This then again is where you would be focusing to much on a physical aspect instead of the spiritual aspect of what Jesus was saying.

I disagree, I believe he was trying to make a point.

If you think you can be righteous by the laws standards, you better pluck your eye out or cut your hand off. that is how serious it is. If you commit one sin, your lost forever.

He was proving how hard it was to make ourselves righteous. And trying to point them (and us) to him, for in him aloe can we be saved.

so I asked this one, is anyone going to show me where I make an error in my judgment?

can the law which says do not covet make me not covet? How can it. All it does is say do not do this, it does not tell me how not to do it. So it is useless in all aspects of my life but one, To tell me I have coveted, and have been cursed by Gods law. and since I am cursed by Gods law. I am subject to Gods judgment, which is death.

How do I then not covet? By the law of moses, or the law of love.

The law of love says love your neighbor (agape love) which means your neighbors needs and wants are more important than yours. If I love Like God loved me, I praise God for giving my neighbor such great blessings, If I am doing this, I WOULD NEVER COVET WHAT HE HAS.

Oh, and this is not just my words but paul agrees with me

[SUP]14 [/SUP]For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Sorry, But as I have said 1000 times, th elaw will never help me stop coveting. All it can do is prove to me I am a sinner, well I already know that, and it lead me to christ, I do not need the law to keep condemning me, and tearing me down in fear. I have Gods grace to keep me moving forward.

as paul said.

Romans 8:15
For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”

So you can read peoples minds now and know someones heart?

Your not helping this conversation any, or adding to it. All you doing is what you always do, condemn.

No I never professed to and have said the same OVER AND OVER in the forums. I was READING the WORDS, following the CONVERSATION and making an OBSERVATION. Which apparently you can not tell the difference. Actually I think YOU are not helping the conversation any... and further... if I had to assess my salvation based on the judgments you make about me... I should just go hang myself and be done:( .

I read everything he said, and everything that was asked him. And there is absolutely nothing he said which would make anyone say what you said to him. You did not even point out what he said which made you think that way, or give him the common courtesy of responding to what he said point by point, you just attacked him with no basis or proof of what you were saying.

Thats the problem that gets you in trouble so much, you would think you would realize that by now. You love to attack.
