How many of you have ever taken the M-B personality test? I feel like printing out my results and passing it out to my poor college colleagues so that at least they understand why this is happening to them...

I took this a long, long time ago and got "INFJ." Then I took it again sometime last month and got the same thing. I think psychologists argue over MBTI being reliably scientific (75% accuracy), but it managed to perfectly describe me. :p

This is me. It's actually very accurate.

Portrait of an ISFJ - Introverted Sensing Feeling Judging
(Introverted Sensing with Extraverted Feeling)

The Nurturer

As an ISFJ, your primary mode of living is focused internally, where you takes things in via your five senses in a literal, concrete fashion. Your secondary mode is external, where you deal with things according to how you feel about them, or how they fit into your personal value system.

ISFJs live in a world that is concrete and kind. They are truly warm and kind-hearted, and want to believe the best of people. They value harmony and cooperation, and are likely to be very sensitive to other people's feelings. People value the ISFJ for their consideration and awareness, and their ability to bring out the best in others by their firm desire to believe the best.

ISFJs have a rich inner world that is not usually obvious to observers. They constantly take in information about people and situations that is personally important to them, and store it away. This tremendous store of information is usually startlingly accurate, because the ISFJ has an exceptional memory about things that are important to their value systems.

ISFJs have a very clear idea of the way things should be, which they strive to attain. They value security and kindness, and respect traditions and laws.

ISFJs learn best by doing, rather than by reading about something in a book, or applying theory. For this reason, they are not likely to be found in fields which require a lot of conceptual analysis or theory. They value practical application. Traditional methods of higher education, which require a lot of theorizing and abstraction, are likely to be a chore for the ISFJ.

The ISFJ has an extremely well-developed sense of space, function, and aesthetic appeal. For that reason, they're likely to have beautifully furnished, functional homes. They make extremely good interior decorators. This special ability, combined with their sensitivity to other's feelings and desires, makes them very likely to be great gift-givers - finding the right gift which will be truly appreciated by the recipient.

More so than other types, ISFJs are extremely aware of their own internal feelings, as well as other people's feelings. They do not usually express their own feelings, keeping things inside. If they are negative feelings, they may build up inside the ISFJ until they turn into firm judgments against individuals which are difficult to unseed, once set.

Just as the ISFJ is not likely to express their feelings, they are also not likely to let on that they know how others are feeling. However, they will speak up when they feel another individual really needs help, and in such cases they can truly help others become aware of their feelings.

The ISFJ feels a strong sense of responsibility and duty. They take their responsibilities very seriously, and can be counted on to follow through. For this reason, people naturally tend to rely on them. The ISFJ has a difficult time saying "no" when asked to do something, and may become over-burdened.

The ISFJ is warm, generous, and dependable. They have many special gifts to offer, in their sensitivity to others, and their strong ability to keep things running smoothly. They need to remember to not be overly critical of themselves, and to give themselves some of the warmth and love which they freely dispense to others.

I'm an INFP, it's fairly accurate, though I have learned to be more extroverted to function in the world. :)

I took the MBIT several years ago and had ENFP, but since then I've become a lot more introverted, although I still qualify as an extrovert. Everyone was actually kinda worried about me, because they said I was "So quiet" since I'd come back from school. It's not unusual to get different results every few months or years because we're always changing in certain aspects of our personalities. Results are also effected by which website you take the test on.

ESTJ-A Not sure why I got 5 letters. It does fit me. My personality has changed a lot over the years as I have mature, and the Holy Spirit has brought me more into alignment with the Bible and the will of God.

Interesting test!

I took a similar test once that said I don't have a personality, I'm just a character!

So what kind of celebs and famous real life/fictitious people share your type?

I've got Will Rogers, Robin Williams, Bill Cosby, Carol Burnett, Paul Harvey, Mark Twain, Martin Short... and Che Guevara, Fidel Castro, and Hugo Chavez... And Julian Assange.

Apparently I have a lot in common with funny people, psychos, and South American dictators. And whatever Julian Assange is.

I've taken the test a few times before. I'm always either an INTP or an INFP.

I don't fiddle with those things because I already know who and what I am.

Besides, with 75% accuracy there's a 25% chance of being wrong. And what if my result IS wrong, and what if I react to that wrong result? If the result is wrong my reaction will be wrong because it is based on erroneous data.

If you take different versions of the same test on different sites, your margin of error drops significantly. I've taken different versions of the test on at least 4 different sites, all of them with the same results, albeit different percentages. How do you know if the assessment is accurate? Read your personality description. If you're nodding your head and smiling, or possibly crying, I'm sure it's probably accurate.

Nothing wrong with getting two types. Sometimes you have a close secondary function (my close secondary function is Introverted Feeling, and I have a tendency to cultivate the Thinking over Feeling in many instances).

I usually get ISFP, sometimes INFP.

Basically, I'm introverted, empathetic, creative, and kind of a mess ;)
