Wrong type of works, is what I see..Like boasting in one's own greatness...Example "I am a doctor, and I have this piece of paper with golden seals, so who are you with none!"

Would that apply to also our walk with God? Example..The pope says "Bow down, and kiss my hand..because I wear this clothing, and crown..I also carry a staff, so I am mightier than you...What do you have for proof, your relationship with God?" Forgetting about sack cloth and being humble. Or that we all are equal!

Or how I have experienced in an Emergency Room, ill treatment to me and haughtiness, and that person had no clue about me, and how I got in that condition? As they bouted "You need to be more proactive to your disease!" Like if I knew at the time how, I was just being lazy according to them! Yet, I knew I was very proactive with little I had!

But if that person leaves out that I am right, you are wrong...and let only scripture speak, than is that putting other's in equal measurement. Or is that going against where two or more agree? For I see, that without saying I am right, you are wrong in the situation verbally, does not the reader agree or disagree in their own conscience? Or is that denying Christ in front of others to not verbally agree or disagree? To me, not giving scripture in the situation would be denial. I know that when I read what someone gives me in scripture, I can tell if that person disagrees, or trying to reproach me.

This is one thing I have said a number of times, that when replying to please use scripture to back it up.

We need to give the Sword (Word of God) when we speak, which is book, chapter, and verse #'s.

Saying when posting a quote this comes from the bible without giving exactly where it came from I would be skeptical of such people. Because how is a person new to the faith or seeking to genuinely know God and our Lord more personal how do they know where to look if we do not tell them.

I don't like hearing its in the bible look it up, or this was said to the Corinthian church !!!

I was not getting on you or anybody else just responding to the OP, and I don't preach or teach works over grace.

Please keep with the thread and not come in to start something right off, thank you !!!

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy has he saved us (past tense)

In the grace you are, having been saved by faith and that not of yourselves, it is the GIFT of God, not of works lest any man boast....

It pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe......

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not be perishing, but is having (present tense) everlasting life......and for those who claim this is a mental assurance....that is false..NO where is that indicated by the verse....English and or Greek notwithstanding!

Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?

Yeah BEFORE men.....one of these days you might figure it out before you leave this earth.....James is speaking of our faith being justified before MEN by our works....I still see your are blind to this truth!

Abraham was saved long before he offered Isaac....maybe you should study more and understand that his offering of Isaac was not for salvation, but testified unto all men that he already possessed saving faith....shaking my head at your in ability to see the truth!

dcon.. you are STILL perverted in your Eng. and the Greek. Both, Eng and Gk. indicates that the eternal life,in Jh' 3:16 is ONLY a possibility to the believer, not a sure thing. The action of GOD ALONE makes the believers faith a sure thing, by the New Birth of the Spirit, the new Birth assures the trust and obedience of the believer in Christ.
 
When you were first brought to this, did you understand right off? I know that I must grow, and discover. Is this how it was taught to you? In this manner? I am not calling you a false prophet, but I have seen my share of those that try leading my astray. So I do as the Berean, and search. I do not hate your exhortation, as I see your effort, and it is not wasted. Are you asking for me to leave the dinner table, because I have not decided to eat yet what I am unsure of is right? Do you think I was raised with scripture, my whole life, and should already know things? Like a student in classroom, I simply ask

Yeah keep believing that man...the Greek sets forth a present continuing result from a past completed action regardless of your bloviating!
