Being Catholic I understand your frustration with the misconception that Catholics worship the Saints especially Mary. Personally I know I am a Christian and my faith is centered on God. Even in the scripture Jesus is called the GREAT INTERCESSOR....to me that means when we ask for intercession through any Saint we are really asking those we believe to be in the presence of God to bring forward our request to the Father. If you've ever asked a friend, brother or sister in Christ to pray for you, you're asking them to intercede on your behalf to the Father.

I don't go to any church to WORSHIP anything but the FATHER.

the only thing i really dont like about Catholicism is how when you have sinned you ask forgiveness from another sinner not trying to disrespect any pastors but dont they teach"we have all sinned and come short to the glory of God" so why ask for forgiveness from anyone but God?

Catholics are indeed Christians, yes, and it seems that every denomination has different views on how to get to heaven. However there are a few things I don't agree with the Catholic faith, where I live most people are catholic, and my great grandparents were catholic.

Baptism - What is the point of baptizing someone as a baby? Yes we are all born into sin, but by being baptized it is a commitment, like a contract, and in order to commit to this you must understand what it is that you are committing to? Babies can't understand what it is they're doing. THEY'RE BABIES. I was Baptized as a baby, but was re-baptized 2 weeks ago in the name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Another thing is, when you are baptized as a baby as a Catholic they pour water over your head. yet the word Baptize comes from the Greek word baptizō which is a derivative of the word bap'-to, the strongs definition of bap'-to is :
A primary verb; to whelm, that is, cover wholly with a fluid; in the New Testament only in a qualified or specific sense, that is, (literally) to moisten (a part of one’s person), or (by implication) to stain (as with dye): - dip.

Another things is the baptism of the Holy Ghost, which most Catholic churches don't believe in yet it says in John 3:5 Jesus says "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."
Its obvious he is making a point that this is important to do, he says Verily, Verily, which is to say, Truly Truly I say to you, unless a man be born of the water and of the spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Catholic priests are also referred to as "Father" yet Jesus says here in Matthew 23:9 "And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven."

They also confess their sins to the priest in confession yet Jesus says in Mat 9:6 " But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house. " Or in Mar 2:7 "Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only? "

Only God can forgive your sins, by saying X amount of Hail Mary's doesn't forgive your sins, and you don't need to tell him your sins, I wouldn't feel right telling a man, who can judge and is a man nonetheless than me my sins, only God needs to know what sins I have committed and only he can forgive them, it's a personal relationship with God.

That is only to name a couple. Now that's not to say that you do those things, as everyone interprets the Bible differently. I'm not here to change your views, I am not to judge, only Our Father, Lord, and Savior; Jesus Christ can judge us. I hope you do not take any of this in offence to you brother.

I know many people who are Catholics, and I shall respect their decision, but it is my Duty as a Christian to inform people about the truth. We all must spread the truth.

I have been repeatedly told by a few members who will remain unnamed that I am not a true Christian because I am Catholic. I am a proud Irish Catholic. Here is my bit :

I have been told that the saying the Hail Mary is a form of worshiping Mary and not Jesus. I was raised in Catholic Education my whole life so let me explain this. The Church is centered around Jesus. We pay homage to those individuals throughout history who have led virtuous lives in the name of Christ. Our church is centered around Christ. I pray and worship only Christ who is my vehicle to our Higher Power.

I almost left CC because of some of the ignorant slants I got from a certain member about Mary. First off, I understand that saying the Hail Mary may be taken as a sign of worship, however, it has always been taught to me that saying the prayer is a sign of respect for Mary who brought Christ into the world and she is not to be thought of as anything more.l "We believe one God, the Father the Almighty, creator of heaven and earth..."

I just wanted to say that 99% of the people here are AWESOME, but please realize that I AM a true Christian, I strive everyday to be one. And I was confirmed in the name of Sebastian (Which is now officially my first name) to honor him and exemplify his message and bravery for the Glory of God.

Hey, as long you understand the meaning of salvation when Jesus came and died on the cross for our sins and rose from the grave to prove to us there is life after death then you have eternal life. Period! doesn't matter what what they said, it just between you and God. And if they are " true Christian" then they should have read about the judging passage. " Do not judge or you too will be judge" ( Matthew 7:1) So, let us leave that to God..

Yep, you got us! But you forgot, the NT also condemns the practice of calling anyone a teacher, as well. And, I hope you plan on calling your father by his first name from now on and instructing you children to call you by your first name.

When we sin, we are sinning against God and the Body - our brothers and sisters. The early church recognized this and started the practice of confessing their personal sins in front of each other. Understandably, people outside the church did not like this practice and stopped joining. So, the church restricted the practice to confessing to a priest. Also, Jesus commanded his disciples to go forth and health the sick, clothe the poor, feed the hungry and forgive sinners. In fact Jesus told them that if they chose not to forgive the sins of the people, they would not be forgiven!

Instead of restricting the forgiveness of sins to God - Jesus was asking the pharisees, who were accusing Jesus of blasphemy because He was forgiving sins, to continue to follow their own understanding of the law to its logical conclusion. When they did, they realized that Jesus was actually declaring His divinity.

No. I just consider the source......you are a young Christian who knows nothing about church history - therefore, instead of pointing out the nonChristian teachings of the Catholic Church, you simply revealed your own ignorance, while pointing out that the Catholic Church is the same church as the early church. Ummm.....and that some of your own teachings seem to be recent additions to Christianity - rather than measuring rods for truth. Oh, hope that wasn't offensive.....

Well, I suggest you get yourself a copy of the Catholic Catechism and find out what the church teaches, rather than relying on information from folks outside the church or relatives. Warning, after accepting this challenge from a Catholic friend of mine, I found out it was true and joined.

I see no scriptual references, and you keep saying "the Church", it doesn't matter what the church started to do, or what the church recognizes, it matters what GOD TOLD US. What he has preached unto his deciples and is in the Holy Bible. Most people call their "father" Dad, as well.

PS, the Council of Nicea changed the type of Baptism, and you forgot to comment about the strongs definition of what Baptism is, we can't change things that are in the Bible, and in the Catechism they leave out the second commandment of God's law. You can't just leave something out...

Catholic = Universal, To all of you who don't understand this..The Catholic Church is the Apostle Peter's Church..It is not exclusive but rather inclusive...Our Faith rests on Jesus as the Messiah, the Son OF GOD and savior of US all.
Now...you may choose to be trapped in DOCTRINE and RULES that are of human origin or you may choose to WORSHIP the LORD...Whatever DENOMINATION you are, the real point is to know and worship and love GOD! As a Catholic I understand this....I do not get wrapped up in ceremony and ritual as much as I seek to hear the teaching of our LORD!
If you are so concerned about the rights and wrongs about any particular Christian Denomination, maybe you should ask what is wrong about you and yours...

Just like in the bible how the people would try to test Jesus & say "well moses law says this or something says this"

Its not what the catholic church or any other church says its WHAT God said & what God told his servants to write in the bible.

Because ANYONE can simply say "do this & dont do that" Now just because a famous or a person says that does NOT mean it is right.

God gave us free will, If we want to get baptized thats our choice.
