Using Biblical criteria, have the dates of Creation been established with reasonable accuracy?

Young earthers accept a value anywhere between about 5500 years and 12-14000 years.

The problem is there are missing generations in the geneology. This occured for a lot of reasons, but it is sufficient for us to not know exactly how long ago creation occured. I think the world is 10,000-15,000 years old.

seriously ther is a gap, NOT IN THE MILLIONS OF YEARS, between Gen 1:1 and verse 2

1In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

2BUT the earth BECAME without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters

I think it's pretty reasonable that the earth is no older than 15000 years old.

While anyone can quote bible verses, I try to hit at the "scientific" fallacies, which cause people not to believe any biblical arguments anyway ~_o

The origin of life is IMPOSSIBLE. Not just very very very very very unlikely. There are certain chemical reactions found IN life and ONLY in life that cannot occur naturally anywhere else, under any circumstances. Also, in the rare case that some of these reactions occurred, the chances of all of the pieces coming together in ANY "compatible" order is insane.

Also, evolution does NOT explain life. I think it is a very good mechanism for survival, and allows species to adapt to long-term environmental changed (*coughglobalwarmingcough*). However, there is ZERO proof for any changes in species, and an evolutionary change in chromosomes (e.g. We have 46, monkeys have like 44) has no explanation.

And if life hasn't evolved over millions and millions of years, then it definitely MUST have been made by a creator. And if it's been made by a creator, then I find it perfectly believable that the earth is only 10-15k years old ^_^

There is also a gap of the account of the 6 days of creation until God formed Adam. The creation of male and females occurred on the 6th day, then God rested on the 7th day from all the work He had done. Then in chapter 2 we see that Adam was not "created" but "formed" from the dust of the earth. He was not spoken into existence as the male and females God created. God said "He needed someone to work the ground because there was nobody to do this." This formation of Adam is often referred to the 8th day of creation, however that does not necessarily mean a literal day. The counting of age of the genealogy from Adam to Christ is very accurate and there is no gaps that I am aware of. God wanted us to know exactly where Christ came from as well as the number of years. The count utilizing ages of men is 4000 years approximately give or take a few years due to God's calendar which is based on the moon cycles and whether or not the barley harvest is ready on the 12 new moon or the 13th new moon. And also evening doesn't start at 6 pm, God declares when it is evening which is whatever time the sunsets. The 6 pm setting is a Jewish made up timing...not God's. And also Noah was chosen because "he was the only righteous one" which means his bloodline was the only pure bloodline back to Adam and Eve. So that the bloodline was not lost in the flood and was carried on until Christ. So we also know that we are 2010 (give or take a few years based on God's calendar) since the birth of Christ. A little research is needed to determine when God's calendar ended with the Jews and then changed again to the Gregorian calendar and if there were any other calendars between those two. Therefore, time setters of Christ's return is nothing but pure foolishness. We can only know the season as the time approaches and when all the prophecies are in place. The only time setting that can be accurate is from the day the whole world is united and one leader arises and there is 3 1/2 years of peace. Then you know there are only 3 1/2 years left till Christ's return. Again, we cannot even count the years of that prophecy due to the change of God's calendar. So no time setting!

I think if it was of vital importance, then God would have told us. Whether the earth is billions of years old or a mere 10,000, it doesn't change the fact that Jesus is the Lord of all! But, it is an interesting question....I personally take the bible literally and I think it's only 10 to 15 thousand years old, but my brother thinks it's billions of years old, and we both love Jesus, so it doesn't really matter who is right.

LETS CONSIDER THAT IN 2 PETER WE LEARN TO GOD A DAY IS AS A 1000 YEARS AND VICE VERSA
SO
THIS COULD MEAN
THAT IN EACH DAY OF CREATION WE HAVE 7000 YEARS
THIS WOULD BE ENOUGH TIME FOR DINO EXPERIMENTS AND OTHER ARTIFACTS TO TAKE PLACE
BUT
IF WE TAKE THIS MORE SERIOUSLY
WE WILL SEE THE CLOCK THAT BEGAN WINDING DOWN TO REVELATION
WOULD HAVE BEGAN WHEN ADAM AND EVE ATE OF THE TREE OF KNOWLEDGE
AND THEN WERE REMOVED FROM PARADISE TO SIN
SO
IF YOU TOOK 7000 POSSIBLE YEARS FOR 7 DAYS OF CREATION
ADD 2000 FROM ADAM TO NOAH
ADD 2000 FROM NOAH TO BIRTH OF JESUS
ADD 2000+ FROM BIRTH OF JESUS UNTIL TODAY
I WOULD SAY TO BELIEVE WE COULD BE AT 13,000+ YEARS
WOULD BE NO MEANS STRETCHING THE POSSIBILITY
SO MY GUESS WOULD BE
AROUND 13,000+ YEARS ACCORDING TO BIBLICAL SCRIPTURE
BUT
LETS NOT FORGET
WE COULD ADD A FEW DAYS OR ANOTHER WEEK IF YOU CONSIDER
FROM CREATION OF ADAM TO EVE AND THE TIME THEY ATE OF THE TREE OF KNOWLEDGE
SO THAT WOULD BRING US TO 16,000+ - 20,000+ POSSIBLE YEARS
REMEMBER
ADAMS AGE IS RECORDED FROM BEGINNING TO END ONCE HE COMMITTED SIN AND NOT BEFORE
ITS NOT LIKELY THAT ADAM WHO WAS GIVEN PERMISSION TO NAME ALL LIVING THINGS
(BIRDS-TREES-FISH-MAMMALS-AMPHIBIANS-PLANTS-FLOWERS-INSECTS-REPTILES-ALL LIVING THINGS)
DID THIS IN A 24 HOUR DAY PERIOD AS WE WOULD IMAGINE SO HAPPENED
TO ME IT WOULD MAKE SENSE IN A 1000+ YEAR PERIOD HE DID THIS
THEN AFTER EVE WAS CREATED HE NAMED HER ......WOMAN

SO I BELIEVE THE TIMELINE COULD LOOK LIKE THIS

CREATION = 7000 YEARS
ADAM AND EVE TO FALL OF PARADISE = 3000 - 7000 YEARS
ADAM IN SIN TO NOAH = 2000 YEARS
NOAH TO BIRTH OF JESUS = 2000 YEARS
JESUS TO NOW = 2000+ YEARS

TOTAL POSSIBILITY = 16,000+ - 20,000+ YEARS

I wanna say it was around 10,000-15,000 years ago because of old the original people were able to live, it would make it hard to belive the Earth is only 6000 years like I keep hearing... But the notes in my Bible shows believed dates as far back as 4500 years ago. And that was about 300 years before Abram was born so It's not complete.

adam AND EVE * 4000BC
Noah's Ark 2440 BC
Abraham 2000 BC
Exodus 1500 BC
King David 1000 BC

these are approximate

* Eve was mother of all living

Not sure about the actual "dates" of creation but the age of the Earth, possibly...

4 to 6 billion years old is the age of the earth. Not sure about the age of the early fossil records.

Seems like a false dichotomy to assert that the creation story in Genesis has to be a literal account or Evolution is the only other option (and we know that life cannot spring forth out of nothing). We simply do not know how it happened, but science has sure raised some interesting theories in the past centuries.

I tend to believe Moses was given a vision by God, which he passed on as best as he could - but like trying to communicate any dream, some ideas cannot be described accurately or according to a proper time line.

Good thing this topic has zero impact on our salvation.
