You say you do not trust the word of others. Living your life to the best of your ability will not be enough to save you when your time is up. God gave us free will and this is why He made you with your own mind to make your own decisions. You are free to accept or reject Him, I urge you to choose the former. It is not for us to like the way God operates - He is the creator and King and what He says fits whether or not we like or agree with it.Thanks Ive been struggling with my beliefs lately and most of your answers have been helpful. Ill leave it at this; I can only believe what I believe. Ive grown to not believe in a "Christian God" or a God that watches and judges me based on my actions and whether or not I believe that Jesus Christ was his son. I dont trust the word of people I did not know, that wrote things about stuff that happened a very long time ago. Heres my logic, if God created me to think how I think, and then I get punished for not believing in what "he" wants me to, then thats not a God that I want to worship anyway. Ill just continue to live my life trying to be the best person I can and hope that works out for the best.
and this is where a lot of the problems come from. these calculation would only give us the time starting with adam. we have no idea how much time went by from the formation of earth until the formation of adam.As I understand it the idea that the earth is only 6000 years old was put forward by some bishop who based it on adding up the Generations of people in the Bible. He not only worked out the year he claimed he knew the Day and the Hour it was made.
The belief that the earth is only six thousand years old is ridiculous, and to try to calculate it based on the generations from Adam to us is pointless. The bible doesn't tell us the years between adam and throughout the rest of humanity in fact it doesn't even say how old Adam was when he was created and died. In fact I have heard it said Jesus died at age 33 but I have not seen this anywhere in scripture?
Ad? thought that ad stood for after death? how could jesus had died 30 years after his death?Hi Blain, Jesus was about 30 when he started his ministry.
Luke 3:23 AMP
[23] Jesus Himself, when He began His ministry, was about thirty years of age, being the Son,
as was supposed, of Joseph, the son of Heli,
I also found the following on the Internet:
The gospel of Luke says that John the Baptist's ministry began during the fifteenth year of
Tiberius Caesar or A.D. 28. This would mean Jesus started His ministry after that
(see Luke 3:1, 21) or about A.D. 29 to 30.
The length of Jesus' ministry was at least three years and maybe as much as four
years. The gospel of John definitely tells us that at least three Passovers - three years - occurred
during Jesus ministry.
At the end of a ministry lasting a little more than three years, Jesus' ministry would have
ended about A.D. 33. He would have been 34 to 35 years old.
Jesus' Death. We know that Jesus could have died only on A.D. 30 or A.D. 33 since the
gospels say that Jesus died on a Friday during the Passover. The Passover date is significant
because it could occur only during a lunar eclipse. The Jews selected Passover by the
lunar cycle. During the year of interest, lunar eclipses occurred only on a Friday
in A.D. 30 or A.D. 33. This means Jesus was 34 to 35 years of age when He died.
I follow the evidence where it leads me, like an honest detective would. When it comes to science, I pick and choose what l believe is the truth.
Sort of like what scientists do when it fits their agenda.

Do some christians actually not believe in science?
