There's a lot to be said about obeying government authority in Scripture...even when Paul was instructing the Greek Christians to obey those in their own government...which was corrupt in itself....but..we can argue this forever. I remember when Daniel himself was in a situation like this...when the law was issued against him praying to his God. Daniel continued to pray..which is certainly understandable on his part. He was also thrown into the lion's den as a result. Fair? no. did he fight it? no. God miraculously saved him without human help. No screaming. No protestors outside that lion's den screaming to all the evil doers in his society. No excuses made for Daniel not "obeying the law". None of that. Simple trust in God to do whatever he wills. Can you imagine if Daniel turned around and brought suit against the very government whose actions led him to be thrown into that Den? He came out in all humility, all grace, and was raised up by the King who saw something so true and attractive in this man of God. That is a true lesson to be learned.
There should be no argument on this topic though because the bible gives many examples of men and women of God disobeying the laws of the land to continue to obey God.
This is shown from the OT all the way through the NT.............
Why do you think the Apostles/disciples were imprisoned, persecuted, and crucified or exiled ???
The laws of the land told them to stop preaching Jesus and they refused.
The whole obeying the laws of the governing authorities comes from
Romans 13, but to take from that chapter we are to obey all the laws rather for or against God's ways is wrong.
This is where discernment needs to come into play as examples throughout the bible show denying man's laws to stand firm in God's ways. Even
Acts 5:29 says we must obey God rather then men, therefore if
Romans 13 meant all laws then these two passages would contradict. God's word however does not !!!
I don't think everybody is saying sue the governments, but there is enough evidence in the bible that we are to obey God over man.
When a law gets passed in the future under the anti-christ's system to deny Christ or be killed will you denounce the name of Jesus for the sake of the law ???
