Can I guess that it was the youngest son? They got into a fight.
 
Kodiak, He told the oldest son he'd given his heart to Jesus and asked him to forgive him and invited him to church the next Sunday. Yes he did get a hold of the youngest son. Hard to explain, but just long dark streaks on surface of skin. No he did not die from the hanging, good deduction :), Watson. You are very, very... close, but no he didn't steal any ones identity. Ben is still alive.

Can I add is one of the sons named Ben? If so, does he look like his father?
 
The son named Ben did it.....He looked like his father, which is how the homeless people got confused.... ???
 
Exactly! The father and son looked just like each other. You figured that out, but how did he die and why did the son do it?
 
Hey, lol, somebody finally asked those questions. Did I add enough suspense to hold your mystery theater interest? :).
 
Sorry Kodiak, gotta go. If it helps any the stuffing removed from the old pillow now filled with clothes had something to do with it too.
