am seeking advice about my almost 1 year relationship, with my 23 year old boyfriend. We have a great relationship, and have known each other as best friends for 4 years. We are both Christians and have church pastors which keep us accountable, and are very active in serving the church. I have always known that he has been attracted to men, which I had been finding increasingly difficult- worrying about his godliness and any problems that we might come across in our marriage because of this.
However, I know that all sins are equal in the eyes of God, and that Jesus has already paid the price of our Sin. Therefore, who am I to judge and say that his Sin is any less than mine? He has recently admitted to me (and i am the first person he has told) that he is also attracted to young boys of ages 7-11. Although he has never watch porn or acted up on these feelings, he still struggles.
I am deeply upset by this, as I have experienced sexual abuse when I was 7. I cannot bare the thought of him ever hurting our children, if we have any one day. Several things complicate this though. He is EXCELLENT with children, and has a true gift for teaching them. He is thinking about going into teaching primary school full time, however since this has come to light, i wonder wether this is a good idea, and if it might just be asking for trouble?
He is also somewhat immature. Coming from a home schooled family, one of 4 siblings. He doesn't want to grow up properly, and has a child like view of the world. Although I do like this aspect of his personality, I feel like I have to take care of thigns and cant fully trust him because he is so oblivious as to how the world works sometimes. I love him very much, and this is his first relationship. I want to help him grow more like Jesus, and I know that we both encourage each other in our faith everyday.
I feel like if we get married, I will have to help him grow up to be mature, as well as constantly fearing for our children. Wanting to protect them and feeling like I can't trust him with anything. In so many ways our relationship works very well. We have the same hobbies, chemistry, both want children etc. But I'm not sure that if we get married and become "one", that i will not be able to give him the support he needs in this area.
I have been told that all sin is the same. I know that logically. But been attracted to children involves a innocent, helpless child. Being jealous, or have homosexual feelings or sinning with someone of the same sex, if sin against god and the other person. I feel how ever that this sin is somehow worse, because the child in question would have no say in what is being done to them.
My question is, do you think that how I feel about this will get better with time? Do you think that our marriage would be unstable? How can I support him? Or perhaps our marriage isn't a good idea at all.

All things considered, walk away, nothing is "going to get better", the longer you're with him the worse they'll get!

There is VERY rarely (if ever) a remedy for a person who is (sexually) attracted to children!

there is A LOT that I could say however I will simply say this.....................I am sorry you need to walk away and find him some help. Being attracted to children is NEVER EVER a good thing.

Wow as usual the popular answer is "run and leave him". I don't agree at all. I would hold off on marriage or kids though, and don't think getting a job teaching kids is a very good idea at all at this point either. I am also curious how you even know he has these attractions? Did he trust you enough to confide in you, or did you "find" something you weren't suppose to? That would also make a big difference really, but if you truly love this guy and he loves you and is open to Jesus, then Jesus can help, and is the ONLY realistic answer to him ever changing these things. He can change him especially if he wants to change. You would also have to be willing to be in it for the long haul and need to stay very aware of what he is wanting, and be willing to do what is necessary to keep him from ever hurting a child. This is a very complicated situation but I know firsthand that this kind of love and devotion from a woman mixed with the power of Jesus Christ can help save and change this man, and God may be using you to help him. I can't be like the rest and just say "take the easy way for yourself, and the convenient way and just run", myself having had a very special woman that stood by me many times when she would have been told the same thing, and rightly so at times, but she saw something in me and it all ended up saving me and working for Gods glory. You need to really think about it and always be brutally honest even when it hurts, but I can't just tell you "run, run, run".

Thank you for your reply. Yes he had told me so, and I know he is deeply sorry and repents to God for these lustful desires. He knows it is wrong and it makes him very sad. I feel like I want to support him, as I love him very much. We serve the Lord great together, leading a Christian Union at our college and hosting others. I know that whilst good things could come out our marrige, I'm not sure I could trust him just yet with eveything. He is the most loving and kind boyfriend, I'm not sure I'm willing to give up on that just yet.. thank you very much for your resopnse.

Brethren! @London2015, this is just an advice, "nothing is impossible with God!" As long as there is an "honest repentance" and deeply from the heart, everybody has a chance to follow Christ and be with God. Giving a chance to somebody you love is a Godly act (as long as subsequently, you can see "positive changes" and that his action/s will show shying away from dreadful sins and leaning towards Christian values, exemplified in daily living). Prior to marriage, this is the high-time to test your weaknesses and if you can both harness your good points with God and stay committed with your future family. All the best! God bless and godspeed!

I can tell how much you're struggling with this -- and that's a good thing. I also think that it's good that you know he has these attractions. The fact that he's willing to share this with you, rather than hide it, means he trusts you and, perhaps is hoping that you'll help keep him away from sin.

Another thing to consider is: how likely is it that he will sin, with either another man or boy. This may be something that he struggles with but doesn't act on.

For these reasons, I wouldn't want you to throw away an otherwise wonderful relationship, not until you explore it further.

Does he know that you were sexually abused? Understandably, your experience makes you especially sensitive about it happening to another child, particularly, in the future, a son that you might have. Even so, in a marriage, where both are sinners, each can help the other grow and run from further sin.

I hope this helps.
