"After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen." (Matthew 6:9-13)

K, thanks............is it only in Matthew? just wondering

Honestly I don't say in Jesus name amen in my prayers with him I guess I am just much more comfortable speaking to him as if he and I are having a conversation but also I don't think that I can use his name and then I get what I asked for. His name firstly is sacred and isn't a magic spell to get what I want and I doubt that most of us would use his name just so we could get what we want.

When Jesus said if you ask for anything in my name it would be done I don't think he meant it literally as the text appears. What does it mean to ask in his name? Is it to simply say in Jesus name amen? or perhaps there is a deeper meaning?

There is a much deeper reason to pray in Jesus name. It is through the blood of Christ and the work done on the cross conquering sin and death and Satan. We are to pray to God as Scripture says but because of the power that comes through Christ from What He accomplished on the cross, He is our mediator.
No, praying in Jesus name does not automatically give us whatever we want if you read in james chapter 4 verses1-6. It reads, where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from.your desire for pleasure that war in your members?. You lust and do not have you fight and war and cannot obtain. .You murder and covet yet, you do not have because you do not ask. You ask yet, you do not receive because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. Adulterers and adulteresses do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore, makes themselves a friend of the world makes themselves an enemy of God.
....God wants our desires and deepest requests to be focused on the Him and his kingdom. Yes, he wants to give us blessings, but only when our hearts are focused on Him. When He is our desire, our requests will be pleasing to Him.
...I hope I explained that well enough to make sense.

In Colossians 3 it says WHATEVER you do, whether in WORD or DEED, do all in His name. Whether in prayer or action, you do not have to pronounce all day long that what you are doing or saying is in His name, that just has to be your attitude. Saying it at the end of prayer is not nessesary, but it helps remind those who hear our prayers that the only way we, or our words, get to the Father is through the Son. And yes, if we ask something in prayer, it will be granted to us IF it is in accordance to God's Will.

When I pray for something and it doesn't get answered like him healing my body or healing someone else I don't keep begging him to answer it or use his name but instead I trust him and say to my self there is a time and a season for everything

You know, I do that alot too. I just talk with my heavenly Father as if He's physically here. I'll be going through my day and I'll say something like, "Father, did you see that?" or "Father, I really enjoyed my time with so-and-so today. That was nice." or "Father, it sure is lovely out today, thank you." or "Father, I'm getting ready to do this, please help me through it." You know, just whatever pops in my head, I'll talk with God about it while I'm going through my day. I'll even spend some time in an attitude of praise towards Him while I'm going through my day. Or, at night, before going to bed, I'll spend some time just loving on God and worshipping Him. During all these times, I don't end it, "in Jesus' name, amen".

Now, when I'm actually praying for a request that someone has asked prayer for, or for my own personal request, yes, I'll end it, "In Jesus' name, amen".

Praying in Jesus' name is not a magic trick and should never be looked at as such. Using His name, like He tells us to, is taking our authority over situations, over prince of palities, and over binding and loosing things here on earth so that it'll be bound or loosed in heaven.
