Well, good afternoon everyone from the west coast.

My hands are in rough shape, but I am beginning to wonder if it is a side effect of the drug I am taking, rather than the RA itself.

I've been missing lots of people. I hope they are busy with their Christmas decorations, cards and baking. To say nothing of getting presents together. I finished decorating yesterday, with my 3 year old grandson helping me with all the unbreakable tree decorations on Sunday.

We do not have snow anymore, as it warmed up quite a bit and rained. Rain has returned! If it is not cold, I am not going to be too broken over a green Christmas, after 15 really cold ones in Alberta!

Love you all!

I am so looking forward to today, I am meeting a friend for lunch after work so I have a 30-40 minute drive there and 45-to an hour drive home depending on traffic and the weather which we have had standing water due to a rainstorm so its going to be fun. I'm just hoping I don't get lost on the way. Looking forward to celebrating, making it through a challenging term and see a friend who just needs someone to talk to. I am not sure who is more excited, but we will have a great time.

I am officially done with final exams and extremely satisfied with all my scores and final grades. Without God I would not have been able to do this

‘What’s the NNT?’

First, a patient should ask the doctor about a statistic called the nnt,
or the “Number-Needed-to-Treat.”

The nnt is a piece of data doctors and pharmaceutical companies generally don’t like to discuss.

It describes the number of people who need to take a certain drug in order for one of them
to be helped by it. Consider the example of statin. Statin is a class of drug routinely prescribed
to lower patients’ cholesterol levels.

But the nnt for the most widely prescribed statin is a jaw-dropping 250.
That means for every 250 people taking it, statin helps only one person.

Statin has an unusually high nnt, but GlaxoSmithKline estimates that 90 percent of
all prescription drugs work for only 30 to 50 percent of people taking them.

And in many cases, the effects of your medications are far worse than neutral.
That leads to the second question a patient should ask.

‘What Are the Side Effects?’

Only downside to having Christmas Vacation is that I'm so used to routine of going to school. That I've become restless in the spare time I've got.

I wish I had that problem. I don't get Christmas Vacation and my job is a nightmare this time of year!
