with all due respect, does it really matter?
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters." Gen 1:1
When was "in the beginning", 6000 years ago?
I do not know, but what I do know is that God called life into existence on a "formless and void" earth. The earth probably looked much like our Mars.
How long it was there before God began creating life on it the Bible does not state. It just says that "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."
However, once God started creating that process took 6 literal days according to the Genesis account.
The bible teaches that 6 days work can be done and the seventh is a day of rest... God follows his own word, he created everything in 6 literal days."Young Earth creationism (YEC) is the religious belief that the Universe, Earth and all life on Earth were created by direct acts of God during a relatively short period, between 5,700 and 10,000 years ago."
What does the Bible teach?
... he created everything in 6 literal days.
Why do you think the earth is older than 6000 years? No problem, but the earth is older than 6000 years. Therefore the time interval between God's creation of the heavens and the earth and the creation of life on this earth must have been vast periods.
If you go with the Bible, sin and therefore mortality, didn't exist before the fall of mankind. Hence God's creation was perfect.
If you go with theistic evolution, death was an everyday occurrence in this world of kill or be killed.
Which is true?
Why do you think the earth is older than 6000 years?
How do you know it's very old?The earth, the foundation, is very old, but the creation of life is relatively young.

Nice... this debates over.Exodus 20:11 KJV
(11) For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
According to this verse everything was created in six days including the earth. It was not here for so many years before He created life on it.
