Yeah, it matters

GEN.1 [9] AND GOD SAID, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.[10] And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.

It was by the WORD of God that the earth was created

2 PETER [3] Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, [4]And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.[5] For this THEY WILLINGLY ARE IGNORANT of, that BY THE WORD OF GOD the HEAVENS WERE OF OLD, AND THE EARTH standing out of the water and in the water:

We are in those last days. At the time God spoke the WORD He created the heavens and the earth to look to be old. So why would God have made the heavens and the earth to appear older than they actually were at the time of creation? Was He trying to trick us? Do ya suppose it could simply come down to a matter of faith? Those with faith in God believe that God created the heavens and the earth just as the spoken Word says, even though the evidence for this is not seen.

HEBREWS 11 [1] Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.[2] For by it the elders obtained a good report.[3] THROUGH FAITH WE UNDERSTAND THAT THE WORLDS WERE FRAMED BY THE WORD OF GOD, SO THAT THINGS WHICH ARE SEEN WERE NOT MADE OF THINGS WHICH DO APPEAR.

It really does comes down to faith. You wont be able to prove that God created the heavens and the earth (as the Word says) through science or in a debate. Common sense? Yeah. Go outside on a clear night. Look up. Think. If then you don’t understand...you dont understand.

The answer as to why God created the universe "aged" so to speak. is simple. He created the universe for mankind, to live, function, and to give him all he needed.

So the stars had to show its light on the day man was created, no matter how car away they were

Plants had to be mature and growing food.

Animals had to be aged,

Water had to be flowing in streams and creak beds, so man could enjoyt its taste and it could feed the fruit producers.

Top soil had to already be well nourished so that it could support and feed plantlife..

I am sure i could go on and on and on as to many reasons God had to create the earth aged

If the earth looks aged, it's because it's been through a lot during the Great Flood and the after effects from it since. If the universe looks aged, what are we basing that on? Uniformitarian beliefs? Or the Bible? 6,000 years isn't very long to some people, but think about it. 6,000 years is a long time, it's just that we've been conditioned by evolutionary teachings and uniformitarian ideals to believe otherwise.

remember, odern science which denies the young earth base their science on the idea that things today happen the sae as they did from the beginning of time (it is how they determine the age of things, by the rate of decay)

Peter wanrs us, in the last days this is what people will do. Prophesy fulfilled.

It is suggested by some that the battle between God and Satan happened between gen1:2 and 1:3 in a study done by Chuck missler on you tube.
In genesis the term the Lord's host or host of the Lord ...host is translated army, which may give a clue to the 2thirds of the angles left.
The flood of Noah was a world wide event from both the canopy falling and the secret caverns in the seas as far as I can tell. If it was just a local flood then God would be a liar as he said he would not do it again. We still have serious floods today.

For those not aware, this idea some call the Gap Theory. It's the idea of an unknown amount of time in between the Gen.1:1 verse and the Gen.1:2 verse (not the 1:3 verse).

By the time of Gen.1:2, we are shown the earth in a waste and ruin condition, and a flood of waters overspread upon the whole earth. God's actual perfect creation was at Gen.1:1.

The fossil record matches that idea, because it's little known by the majority that the fossil record also has a time gap in it where there was plant and animal life before (like the dinosaurs), then a gap of nothing (showing a destruction), and then farther up a layer showing new plant and animal life again (plant and animal life of this present world since Adam). That gap in the fossil record could not be from Noah's flood, because that gap in the fossil layer took a longer time to develop than 40 days and 40 nights.

Then the fact of when Satan's original rebellion was, drawing a third of the angels with him, we know had to have happened prior to his time "as that old serpent" tempting Adam and Eve in God's Garden. So that moves it back to either Gen.1 or before Gen.1.

Because Rev.12:3-4 shows that Satan drew those third of angels to "the earth", it shows God had already created the earth before Satan rebelled.

And when God is pointing to Satan in the parable about the Assyrian in Ezekiel 31, and mentions the idea of "all great nations" dwelling under his shadow along with it, I don't see that as just a reference to the time of the flesh Assyrian kings, but also to a time when Satan must have been given rule over nations on earth prior to his rebellion, and that existence of nations back then had to have been about the angels, since Adam did not exist yet back then prior to his rebellion.

Isa 14:12-17
12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;

17 That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?
KJV

When did Lucifer cause the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms? When was the world made as a wilderness, with the cities destroyed? And notice how the Isa.14:12 verse is describing his original fall along with his weakening the nations.

"Young Earth creationism (YEC) is the religious belief that the Universe, Earth and all life on Earth were created by direct acts of God during a relatively short period, between 5,700 and 10,000 years ago."

What does the Bible teach?

That the Earth Was formed in 6 days

That if you add up the genealogies it's pretty clear ~6000 years

Pretty easily done and you don't have to add secular thought to it either

Good - whats funny is that Uniformitarian beliefs are just that, and not actually what we are seeing

The fossil record is there for all to see, God left it for us. So it's not a secular thing that you can simply exclude from the evidence God left about the old world.

The 6,000 years idea originated from 17th century bishop Ussher's research. Bullinger did that research too with the begets in God's Word, from Christ back to Adam. Both marked God forming Adam in His Garden at 4004 B.C. So that's when both had to stop counting, because there was no other genealogy written prior to Adam. What they cataloged then was a dating back to Adam, and not a dating back to when God first created the earth. I'm not against that God created this present world in six days. That does not conflict with the Gap idea at all really, nor does it disprove it, because the 1st day of this present world began after the Gen.1:2 verse, with Gen.1:2 showing the earth was laid waste.

And what does the Fossil record Show?

Billions of dead things buried by water rapidly?
Tons of sediments moved over the entire continents and deposited
Mixed environments mashed together by water
Creatures fully formed, advanced.

Looks like a Global Flood to me

That's one way to look at it

Another way to look at it was in its original state, it was created in a formless and void state. (ie on day 1 of creation)

actually it is a misapprehension and misconception to think it took God six days to create the world and everything in it in six days when in fact everything He creates or created was done in an instant on each of six days - it was done this way or in this fashion for our instruction and guidance - wincam

Yeah, but which flood, because there have been two. The first was sometime between Gen.1:1 and Gen.1:2, for that is what God is showing us there in Gen.1:2 with all those waters overspread upon the earth, and His having to separate them to form today's sky and seas upon the earth.

whatever next - so God is a liar - for He said He would never ever sent another one - wincam

DP, there never was a Gap between verses one and two of Genesis 1. I'm surprised that theory still has a leg to stand on. Wait, the same thing goes for evolution. How does that nonsense still exist? And Ussher was a very intelligent man of God, but we now know his calculations were a little off, maybe by a couple hundred years. But still he was thinking outwards from the Bible, which is more than can be said for many Christians in the world, when it comes to the origins debate.

Wincam do you know the bible at all?

The earth covered with water and dry land came about - parting the see

Then the Flood of Noah and he didn't send one later -so whose the liar?

"Short period between 5,700 and 10,000 years?" Try a short period of 1-6 days and rested on day 7.

The earth is millions of years old that is a fact, we all know now that the bible is just a collection of stories and poetry written by ignorant bronze age folk in the middle east who thought the earth was the centre of the universe. anyone who thinks otherwise is either brainwashed or really stupid. evidence really does show how stupid and backward religion is, if there really is a god.. why has he sat on his *behind* for all this time watching the children of the earth suffer? and the thought that an almighty god who could create a universe with ease could not forgive sin without a sacrifice to me is horrible, sin by the way was manufactured by him in the first place. LIVE YOUR LIVES PEOPLE AND LEAVE THIS SUPERNATURAL *stuff* BEHIND.
The great controversy between evil and good isn't simple.
Love isn't love without free choice
In a perfect universe with no freedom we would be slaves and God isn't like that.
Sure God could have just blotted out anyone that choose to sin but than the universe would serve Him out of fear.
God could have blotted out the whole universe and created it again with out sin but than the problem could arise again and He would have to start again.
God is LOVE, By letting sin run it's course for a time, the whole universe could see why it should not be part our lives. Why sin can't exist in a loving universe. But He didn't just leave us as an example of DEATH, PAIN and DESTRUCTION, He gave us a choice and a way to be saved from sin. I'm not perfect but i have been freed from many painful sins in my life thanks to Jesus (with the hope of being freed from them all ). I haven't found anything, anywhere that comes close to the peace that i find in Jesus and His Love.
You don't understand what you are missing.

Good post, mate. But Hindu Noah was banned quite some time ago.

Your personal opinion on that disproves nothing. You should try Scripture as evidence if you want to disprove it. Obviously, you don't have any, otherwise you would have already offered it.

I like Ussher's book "The History of The World"; I have a copy of it, has some good info in it. His calculation of 4004 B.C. about Adam in God's Garden wasn't off. Other Bible scholars (like E.W. Bullinger) have confirmed it per God's Word, starting from Christ and going all the way back to Adam.

And the fact that the description of the existence of waters upon an existing earth is shown in the Gen.1:2 verse, and then next with God separating and moving those waters to make the dry land appear, clearly shows the earth was already created back at Gen.1:1. Even the KJV translation is written well enough in those verses to see that.

But the deceived would rather believe that "without form, and void" really means that in the Hebrew, when it doesn't, and so the traditions of old remain in sway thinking that meant the earth was still just a thought at that Gen.1:2 point, i.e., that a state of nothingness existed, etc. No, the earth had become in a state of ruin, like something in a good condition that went bad. This is why God was emphatic in Isaiah 45:18 that He did NOT create the earth tohuw ("in vain"; the Hebrew word translated to "without form" in Gen.1:2).

I have great respect for Ussher (the monk, not the pop singer). That said, he was off the mark by a couple hundred years. That's absolutely nothing in the scheme of things. Certainly a much better effort than that given by the evolutionists and old agers. Also, I've read plenty about the Gap Theory - why it's right, why it's wrong and everything in between. It's not a viable option if you read the Bible plainly. God created the earth, matter, then he gave it form and purpose. That's the definition of creation. There was no Satanic Flood or whatever. Just one, the global Flood of Noah's time.
