I'm still fairly new here so please forgive me, but what is this, "troll", that everyone speaks of on different threads?
I'm assuming it's someone who post way off the wall stuff that it must be because they want to start trouble?

Well, trolls are posters who post with any of the following objectives -
1. To agitate some member of the forum
2. To stir a heated argument
3. To deviate the line of thought in the thread

Usually, trolls post something that is either offensive or that is irrelevant to the thread's topic. The bad-natured trolls do that to gain attention, the good-natured ones do that to inject some humour.

Hope this helps. :)

Oh! So there are good trolls and bad trolls? ...lol

Yes, it helped, thank you so much! :D

Usually anyone with an animal or insect for an avatar should be suspect. The "honest" posters just show their own photo.

im going to pose as a cactus ...

A Rabbi friend of mine once told me I was a "Sabra". (It means, true Israelite, but also means, cactus, in the Hebrew language.)

(Oh yeah, it's also the name of a sports car.)
