Artsie's dream job that doesn't exist

I just got off a very embarrassing phone conversation with the leader of a non profit animal association. Although he was nice, the job involved being basically at the house of this guy and I was NOT comfortable with it. Obviously his wife would be there but still, alarm bells went off so I cut the convo short.

This makes me think: the dream job I want really doesn't exist I don't think. Such as follows is the nearly unattainable job qualifiers that Artsie wants:


-15 to 20 an hour
- good health benefits
- maybe closer to the midwest :3
- creative
- nonprofit if first two qualifiers are present
- SAFE.

People working 50 - 60 hours don't get a living wage and bennies. I wouldn't give up looking for that dream job, but I wouldn't turn down a reasonable second place offer because of it. And yes if you don't feel safe don't go there. But, would talking to the wife have helped that?

Not really. I don't know either of them, the wife was out of state because of family stuff, so it just wasn't the right time I don't think
 
Artsie, did you draw that Darth Vader? If so, that's really cool!!!
I'm sorry you can't find a job. I know there's a website where you draw things for people and they pay you for them. I don't remember the name but I'm sure you've heard of it. Of course there wouldn't be benefits. :(
Why don't you try an art store like Hobby Lobby, Michaels, or even creative fun stores like Hot Topic? I know it's not really what you want, but it will help you get some money, experience, and maybe help you pay for school.

I know how it feels, but there must be something out there for you. I'm not sure about wages but there could be some organizations that help the community in some way that could use an artist for advertisements etc. :p

I only have one criteria which is that the job doesn't feel completely meaningless.
 
Trust in the Lord...He can take what looks like a bad job and make it great... Worked for a company for a couple years that drove me to anger many days...but kept praying and hearing the Lord say He had a plan..to make a long story short ..He gave me great favor with the bosses in the company and now with the owner ..I now do sub-contract work for the company (my own boss) and make bank :) and now all kinds of doors seem ready to open? Just trust God with your work...at times it may not seem to make sense or be working but God has bigger plans for you :)

Hi Artsie, my sister is a graphic artist too. She works freelance jobs online. You'd be surprised how much they pay :) There are many freelancer jobs online like upwork.com (used to be Elance and oDesk). Fiverr too. I honestly can't count how many onlines stores she's made lol. Some of them I didn't know existed. But anyway, yeah, freelance artist jobs are easy to find and pay well. :) I think you have enough for a portfolio. :) That'd be a good start.
