I didn't know what thread to put this in, so I'll throw it in here:
So on Wednesday night I attended the young adults Christmas pool party with fellow church people my age. It just so happens, I have started to develop a crush on a particular person, and although I initially freaked out and couldn't talk to him, I've faced my fears and accepted the way I feel and have kind of been a sitting duck on it all because the first step was big enough.
So at this pool party, he got in the pool with a bunch of people a bit further along in the evening when all the guests had arrived, and so I finally plucked up the courage to get changed and join them. Seeing as 'bomb diving' was high on people's agenda, I decided to make quite the entrance and bomb dive too. As I began my run up, I second guessed myself and tried to stop because I suddenly realised I was about to dive in the shallow end. Upon my attempt to stop, I manage to slide on the wet wooden deck and fling myself gracelessly in to the pool. I mean, it was just... really awful, my limbs went everywhere.
Everyone saw it because I made such a commotion about me bomb diving and people were egging me on to bomb dive etc.
So as I resurfaced out of the water, some kind gentlemen in the pool asked me if I was okay (while trying to supress their laughter) but it was too late. I was already laughing the loudest until I couldn't breathe. Then we all laughed louder together and I asked if anyone filmed it because it was too good not to.
We all joked later on in the night how my name will literally become a verb, such as, "Oh man, you just did an 'Arlene'.' We joked how next Christmas, we can tell all the new comers about the defining event that took place last Christmas. It was a night full of laughter.
Anyways, I asked my crush for his number later on in the night, (mainly because he's in my Connect home group) and he said yes and some how he had already saved my number because it came up somewhere in facebook chat for some reason.
I'm starting to think that the pretty dresses and pretty hair never did much for me in the past, it's all in the clumsy way you flail in to a pool.
