Ok,

I have an extremely weak stomach and anything little can cause me to gag. Last week, my parents went on a little vacation and left some pie in the fridge. My mom called and told me they should've thrown it out before they left bc it's bad. Well, I cannot bring myself to throw it out. If it was just on a plate or something, fine. But, it's in a pie holder and each time I go to grab it, I gag and before, i picked it up, went to open the pie holder and, I gagged and had to run to the bathroom bc I threw my whole breakfast up. I just don't know what to do. I gotta get it out of the refrigerator but, I just don't know what to do.

I've always struggled w/ this. Even thinking about it now, is starting to make me sick. There's no one else home that can do this for me so I have to do it and have been putting it off for the past week so i know it's going to look and smell even worse. Just gagged again. Been trying to psych myself up, saying I can do this, this is stupid, etc. nope, nothing helping.

I don't know what to do but it Has to be gone by tonight because garbage pickup is tomorrow morning.

Prayer/suggestions, I don't know --- I just can't seem to do this and its making me sick.

Another thing I'm afraid of while my parents are gone is, what happens if my dog gets sick and I have to clean it up. I don't have the stomach for that either. I get sick so easily from anything like that and I don't know how to get myself over it. It's a reflex action. I can't help it no matter how hard I try.

How are you EVER gonna live on your own if you can't even throw out old food and clean up pet vomit?! O_O Better find a solution, cuz you can't live with mom and dad all your life..

Go to Home Depot and buy a new fridge. They will haul the old one away. Don't buy one with an ice maker option unless there is a water line to attach to it. The stainless steel ones are nice. Of course, it will cost a little more.

close nose
and take a bucket with you, then you can throw up ( if necessary )
while at the same time dealing with the pie.
Open windows and make coffee, to get a different smell into the kitchen.

you can do that !!!

See a doctor about this condition. You should NOT be gagging at the smell, sight and thought of handling EVERYTHING.

your funny, your issue is minor compared to others. a wise women once taught me "just lean into it a little"..live with it. i pray your future husband has no fear of ick! vomit ect. he can get rid of it for you. now, how bout you put on dark sunglasses, a clothes pin on your nose. do you have a pincher grabby thingie to reach in and get it with a trash bag ready? a neighbor to help or friend. lol

yes, I know I'm funny but, it's something I've always had issues w/ but I'm not the only one. My best friend has the same problem. Can't take the smell of rotting food. It just is gross. He'll go to smell to see if something is good and will gag from the stench of it and sometimes he'll ask me to smell something or throw it away. I will not smell it. I'll have him smell it but if it is bad, I will throw it away for him which yes, has been a struggle sometimes but I force myself to do it.

With the pie though. Well, I eventually did throw it out, though, I think I accidentally threw the plate that it was on out too. This is how i did it. Held my breath, grabbed the pie holder out of the fridge, had the garbage can already open, opened the pie holder, held it inside the garbage can, dumped the pie and whatever it was on into the garbage, shut the lid and put the pie holder in the sink and let out my breath.

I know this is funny to some people but, I can't help it. I usually try to throw things away Before they are about to go bad if I know how long they've been in the fridge for.

You're American, so may I guess by pie you mean cooked fruit in a pie shell? (The English think meats a pie, so just checking. lol)

If so, it's fruit! You can even still eat it. You can leave it out on the table for three weeks and still eat it. You might not want to by then because it will have mold, but it's harmless mold. The same mold that sometimes hits damp, old bread. The same mold they make penicillin out of, so it's not like you haven't had that kind of mold before.

Feel free to leave it in the frig, assuming you still can't eat it. It will not affect anything else in the frig, and you can't get sick because there is a stale pie in the frig. Let your Mom remove it when she gets home.

I get gag reflexes. I'm sensitive to anything in my mouth on the back half of my tongue. If I'm swallowing, that's not a problem, but if that same piece of food stays still for the briefest of moments on the back half of my tongue...

Well, you know. But yours is unnatural even to me. So get help. If you don't, you can never ever have a baby or a pet, because both do things that make the vast majority of us gag sometimes. At 27 with this problem, you needed help with it over tn years ago.

Expiration dates don't tell when something goes bad. I'm not an egg eater, but hubby is. He went into the hospital right after buying 18 eggs. I tried using them up ASAP, but it took me six weeks. I tested if they were bad by cracking them open. (Everyone knows when an egg rots by its smell. lol) I've eaten everything I made with those eggs and never got sick, so simply because something is past its prime doesn't mean it's rotten.

Besides, pies don't rot. The fruit in a pie would dry out, not rot.

(I'm laughing because I've never heard of anyone who could keep a pie that long. It took me six nights, by myself, but I ate the last pie I made all by myself. Had I acted like a kid, it would have been gone in 1-2 days. Who doesn't eat pie ASAP? lol)

We all react to some things negatively and some of them are very understandable. Cleaning up vomit is not a fun thing, and it does make people gag. That is so for me, yet after working as a nurse and raising 3 children, I can say that my reaction to vomitus isn't as bad now. So, you do learn to cope. However by your description, I sense you have a very real problem with fear.

If you are a Christian, you need to know that you can do all things in Christ who gives you His kind of strength. You have the authority He gives you to tell your body not to react adversely to different stimuli. You can overcome this by taking authority over it and by rising up and refusing to allow these reactions dictate how you live.
