At least one new.modern.hyper grace teacher says that sin is a symptom of a mistaken identity, not rebellion against the living GOD. Obviously, you are a follower of that teaching.
Does sin have dominion over you? Not according to scripture, you're under grace. Are you dead to sin and alive unto God? According to scripture you are. Does grace teach you to deny ungodliness? Sure does. Did you die with Christ and resurrect as symbolically shown when you were baptized? Sounds about right. So tell, does this have to do with identity? Sure does, what does the Lord say about you in His word? It is the truth and therefore let it transform you. He is not a liar, renew your mind. Find out your identity in Christ, as a born-again child of God set free from sins dominion.

When you sin, it means sin has exercised dominion over you, contrary to your standing in Christ. When you sin, you choose to be alive to sin and dead to GOD.

You dont seem to understand that we are continually being sanctified. We are not yet the finished product until we are glorified. Yes, we are justified!!! BUT.... we are continually learning to not rebel.
Does a child get disciplined when he goes against his fathers instructions? Yes. So how does that child respond when shown the error? Does that child rejoice and sing happy songs or does that child feel the spank of the father on his rearend? Does the kid say sorry dad I learned my lesson I wont do it again?

We receive salvation because we believe God.
Jesus is a promise to us of forgiveness, as expressed in the gospels. It is words of a true story that the people are testifying to.

The conditions of this belief is that we are sinners who need to be saved. Accepting this position by implication is that we repent and desire the impossible to change that only God can achieve in us.

Jesus says if we keep His words in our hearts and obey them then we are His friends.

But do you believe His words or have you created another gospel which is much more complex than taking someone at His word?

Jesus does not joke or is the issue complicated. What is complicated is our denial of sin and being honest with ourselves and the Lord.

The reason we have so much difficulty taking God at His word is because we are so bad at keeping ours and we put so many other meanings and conditions it usually is actually very different than we intended. This makes Gods direct approach very difficult for us to take seriously. All who believe on Jesus are saved. Trouble is it is difficult to take the words and put them into action. So we easily give up, compromise, stop fighting, deny, go a different road, because sin pins us down so many times it is a joke.

But if we confess, if we walk, if we stay true, then He will stay true to us.

I know many people who fear truth within and jump on the nearest con that seems ok because they do not trust God to walk with them. And this is all proof grace and no conscience is the only way to go, giving up the faith and the walk.

This is what believers in the grace of our Lord Jesus have to say about "sanctification"..the word itself means = "to be set apart"

We are perfectly sanctified in Christ now....very true....we as an identity the new creation in Christ will never be more holy....however there is a "sanctifying" of our behavior that is on-going that reflects our true nature in Christ...so in essence...we are becoming outwardly who we really are in our inner man which is in Christ.

God sets apart ( sanctifies )our attitudes and actions outwardly but you are 100% set apart ( sanctified ) as a person..the real you in your inner man..the new creation in Christ.

Hebrews 10:14 (NASB)
[SUP]14 [/SUP] For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified. ( this is present passive..passive is that something is being done to you ...the Spirit of the Lord in us changing us. )

Here is what Jesus told Paul on the road to Damascus....having been sanctified ( perfect passive )..= done deal

Acts 26:17-18 (NASB)
[SUP]17 [/SUP] rescuing you from the Jewish people and from the Gentiles, to whom I am sending you,
[SUP]18 [/SUP] to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me.' ( perfect passive )

Sanctification to our "religious minds" could mean a lot of different things to different people as it depends on the religious beliefs formulated from our backgrounds....like the "biggie sins" and whatever else they think is sin to them..like no smoking..no drinking..no going to church..no reading your bible every day..no praying for an hour each day.....no going to a movie...reading a newspaper...no being a servant of God...a religious mindset says no doing "what I don't do.."..etc

The Bible is one way we are taught. Its lined up for us and we also have the indwelling spirit whom refers back to the word. God reminds you of the wrongdoing when you rebel. What is your response to rebelling against God? Do you feel any remorse for what you did wrong?

It is obvious from scripture that we are to walk out the holiness that is in us. ..that is in our new identity in Christ..the new man of the heart.

Ephesians 4:23-24 (NASB)
[SUP]23 [/SUP] and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind,
[SUP]24 [/SUP] and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

There is a difference between us as a person being "set apart" ( sanctified in our spirit ) and "setting apart " ( sanctifying ) our behavior.

1 Peter 1:15-16 (NASB)
[SUP]15 [/SUP] but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior;
[SUP]16 [/SUP] because it is written, "YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY."

For a man claiming to speak plainly, this is the most religious stuff you can ever come out with.

There is no inner man / outer man, there is just you. There is desire or hoped for intent and what you actually do.
In real psychological terms this is thoughts or hopes of what you would like to achieve, and your programmed emotional responses which kick in and actually determine what you do. Now who is the real you? Both.

Now sanctification is getting the believer through obedience to learn new ways of behaving and responding. It is slow, it takes the Holy Spirit, conviction of the conscience, love, the word working, prayer and praise and fellowship. But it can be done. But with your theology, zero possibility.

I am not going to bother to put up the tons of scriptures that show we have an inner man of the heart and we have the flesh/body..the old man died on the cross with Jesus..crucified with Him.....the new creation in Christ..etc....then there is the circumcision of the heart and flesh..called the circumcision of Christ.

This is just spiritual ignorance gone to seed here.......it's so sad. It's hard to kick against the goads..

Ok..I can't help it..I have to put this up...:p..we have a new heart now because of Christ in us!

The believers new heart in Christ created in righteousness and holiness: First it was prophesied in the Old Testament.

Ezekiel 36:26 (NASB)
[SUP]26 [/SUP] "Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone ( old man ) from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. ( new man in Christ )

Romans 2:29 (NASB)
[SUP]29 [/SUP] But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that which is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter; and his praise is not from men, but from God.

By grace we have been given a new heart that is obedient.

Romans 6:17 (NASB)
[SUP]17 [/SUP] But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you
became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed,

God cleaned house and moved in. God will not dwell in unrighteousness. God through the Holy Spirit is in our inner man now.

Ephesians 3:16-17 (NASB)
[SUP]16 [/SUP] that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power
through His Spirit in the inner man,
[SUP]17 [/SUP] so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love,

God sealed us and gave us the Holy Spirit in our new hearts.

2 Corinthians 1:22 (NASB)
[SUP]22 [/SUP] who also sealed us and gave us
the Spirit in our hearts as a pledge.

We have the Spirit of God's Son in our hearts now.

Galatians 4:6 (NASB)
[SUP]6 [/SUP] Because you are sons, God has sent forth
the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!"

God has cleansed our hearts by faith.

Acts 15:8-9 (NASB)
[SUP]8 [/SUP] "And God, who knows the heart, testified to them
giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He also did to us;
[SUP]9 [/SUP] and He made no distinction between us and them,
cleansing their hearts by faith.

We love from our hearts now as it is pure.

1 Timothy 1:5 (NASB)
[SUP]5 [/SUP] But the goal of our instruction i
s love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.

2 Timothy 2:22 (NASB)
[SUP]22 [/SUP] Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, with those who
call on the Lord from a pure heart. ( this is a believer in Christ..hang around them )

1 Peter 3:4 (NASB)
[SUP]4 [/SUP] but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.

There are more but this should work to show that the believer has a new heart in Christ.

We still have the flesh to deal with in our bodies and if we are admonished to not to yield to that...but all that is a different subject.

You purport that I do not know these things because I do not surmise as you do? Thats a mistake on your part. You are speaking kinda lofty arent you?
I dont adhere to JP and JO in which I am aware that you do at least one. Many would call that spiritual ignorance.

According to the poll taken, your kind of "grace" thinking is in the minority by leaps and bounds.

I was referring to the spiritual ignorance that says there is no inner man outer man...which I don't think it had anything to do with you and what you were saying...

2 Corinthians 4:16 (NASB)
[SUP]16 [/SUP] Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.

Plus there are many more scriptures on thjs subject..

the old man died on the cross with Jesus..
There are many images you can create talking theology about the cross, but for me it is very simple. Jesus loves me and I love Him. He is prepared to teach me how to walk in righteousness, and be transformed into His likeness.

Now you can invent all the models you like, but dealing with sin matters number 1. Confession, repentance and accepting forgiveness is part of the walk. Being sin conscious is about walk in the Spirit, but also having the wisdom to help others with their sins. If you are not sin conscious how on earth can you give advice without falling into sin yourself?

But as you never tackle such issues as no one around you admits the sins they are struggling with, it is never an issue, it just dominates their lives, but in silence.
