Well said!....this is a major stumbling block for the D.I.Y self-righteousness/holiness mindset....the grace of God in the gospel of Christ is a revelation of the Son...Jesus our Lord.
religion mindset says - look at the sin!
grace-based believing says - look at Christ and His finished work.
When we "see" Him..we are transformed on the outside in our behavior to what He has made us in our inner man where Christ lives now.
The failure to see the new creation in Christ creates no foundation for proper growth..oh...we can learn facts about the scriptures..but they are not what saves us..He does..

Actually, awareness of sin does have the power to transform. Denial of sin and pretending it doesn't exist is like masking over the symptoms of a disease without treating its root cause.
I want GOD to reveal my sin to me so that I can bring it to the light and be healed. Sin has no power to condemn. Why be afraid of it?
Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed. Hebrews 12:12-13

Believers do not seek forgiveness, they ARE forgiven. we live in that truth.
If we are ignorant of our sin..............how can we acknowledge it?
Believers recognize their sin and name it to God. This is rebound and regaining our walk in the Spirit.
Now,recovering from some sins may take the believer YEARS.
My point is those that are ignorant are the non believers who go about there everyday life continually sinning. we seek forgiveness when we pray everyday continually asking God for his guidance the day we think we know everything is the day we have got it wrong.

I was ten years in the Lord before I figured out that guilt was a sin. I was a believer and continually sinned in my guilt.
When I am 20 years in the Lord, I am sure that I can witness to you that I was continually in a sin that I had no clue was a sin. When I am 30 years in the Lord,I am sure i can witness to that I was continually in a sin......
You have an uncanny capacity for totally missing the point.
My mind's not saturated in new.modern.hyper grace brainwashing, so the practiced, carefully crafted speech of its devotees sounds differently to me than to them.
That's because you do not understand the grace of God and its extent in our lives. Ask Him to show you. He can only oblige you.

Guilt is the response of being convicted by religion.
There is no rest in guilt, just burdens.

I don't have your background. I never allowed religion to get its hooks into me, so (apparently) I don't have the same experiences you've had. Guilt to me is what I feel when I know I've done something wrong.

We died to sin in the very same way that Jesus died to sin....He died to the condemnation, guilt and impartation of sin ...in like manner we too have died to the condemnation, guilt and impartation of sin..
Romans 6:10-11 (NASB)

[SUP]11 [/SUP] Even so ( in like manner ) consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
Now we are alive to God and what He has done for us because we are like Jesus in our inner man...created in righteousness and holiness ...
If we do sin..we go to our Father and talk it over with Him..confess what His Son has done for us..and then confess our union and aliveness to God and His life in us.
To the unrenewed mind this concept is very un-nerving but if you really look at the truth of this..it glorifies Jesus and His finished work for us!

I'm a sinner saved by grace. What else is there to say. Thank God for his grace and mercy for the likes of a creature such as me.

We have no right to feel guilt in Christ. He took our guilt.
I don't believe a person can teach this and make another understand. It comes from our experiences and doctrine metabolized in the individuals soul.
We ALL have been influenced by religion in some way or another. To say that we have not, and have never ALLOWED religion to get its hooks into us is..............deception my friend.
satan deceives the whole world and is a master deceiver. And none of us have the mind of Christ completely understood.
If a person doesn't feel guilt when he has done wrong, I think it's fair to say that he has a seared conscience.

If a person doesn't understand that Christ paid for his/her guilt, I think its fair to say that they are a babe in Christ or faking salvation.
