Ok,I need to get out of the news forum and get calm.lol So here is my dilemma, and I know some of you are great decorators and can give me some advice. Here's my issue.I have every room in my house painted, and settled on colors.Everyone says its looks so cozy. But the only room I have left to do is the most important, our bedroom. For some reason I cant make a decision on it. :( Its annoying me because I want a nice place to sleep but I cant seem to pick a wall color.Im liking grey, but I dont want it to look like prison walls. Grey and teal is in the bedspread and I really like those colors together. But I went to look at colors in the store I got overwhelmed. Any ideas you decorators out there?

*squeals excitedly* I LOVE interior decorating, and I'm an awesome color co-ordinator.. If teal and grey are the colors you want, you could do alternating vertical stripes of each color, OR paint the room teal and do grey trim.. Or vice-versa.. I think if you painted it all grey, it would look too drab and dreary. I'd do teal with the grey trim. :)

Neither my wife nor I will be much help. Long ago, we decided to paint every inch of our interior white. Even the floor tile is a bit darker shade of white. Only the doors, bookcases and one long wall, running the length of the house are natural wood. (That wall is deep-relief, rough-sawn exterior paneling.)

Yaay!! lol That is good advice! My parents are looking for a new house. We viewed this home that was nice until I looked in the master bedroom and it way dark grey. All it was missing was the bars on the windows and door.Looked like a prison.Ugh Did not like. But then I wasn't sure what color of teal to do the walls.I like to change colors from time to time.So I need something I can match other colors with. Guess I should have put this in the ladies forum.lol

Well that is easier if you want to change colors in a room. My house has a flow in colors.Im not like pink in one room, red and then blue in another.I try to keep a flow.I have green and sort of burgundy in my living room and kitchen and there is a type of teal that matches with that. But I only use it in small amounts. White would be easier to do but I dont think my hubby would appreciate me saying "you know all that burgundy you painted, three coats,I now want that all white.I may have to come live with you and your wife. Or Miss blue ladybug. lol lol

You don't want too dark a color of teal. Do a light but bright teal/ aqua color. You don't want the teal to overpower the room, or the grey trim won't look good. You probably want a light and airy room, not a dark cell room..lol

Wood and white can be done so that you hardly notice the white.

Yes we only have one window in the room so I want it to be cozy but not a dungeon. How far would you travel to shop? lol lol

Oh I do like that. But I guess a bedroom needs to be more cozy.I have like eggshell in there now and it doesn't look very cozy. The last people here painted it.They had a purple room next to it. The Barney room was the first to go when we moved in. I used a blue/grey and a lighter blue and white molding halfway down the wall.So it looks like the sky and the sea.Since most of my family that visits is from Nova Scotia I wanted them to feel at home. lol

Thank you. A little too dark for me though.I think if I had two good size windows I could pull it off.But we only have one skinny window. It doesn't have much natural light.

If they like everything else, the walls can always be changed

Have I got the deal for them! My neice and her husband are selling their 12,000 sq. ft. home in Naples. I imaging it will be a steal at somewhere under 3m.

Okay, I didn't read all the suggestions, so this may be a repeat, but I'd do an accent wall in teal and the rest in gray. There are some really lovely grays that do NOT look like prison walls! Personally, I don't like strong colors on trim, so I would probably trim it out in white.

Another option would be to install chair rail and paint below the chair rail teal and above the chair rail gray. Traditionally, that look is more for a dining room or kitchen, but it could work in a bedroom as well. And it breaks up the gray.

I see some good ideas here!

I am actually planning on doing our large bedroom this year, and my choice is grey---one of those lovely mid-tone greys that are more like a taupe--with a bit more brown or red in it as the undertone. White for the trim, and the floor, as it is a nicely preserved plank floor, will be painted in white. It does need an accent colour, but for me, teal is too heavy, although I have seen it done and it is lovely, I think I would be aggravated by it over time. A nice soft butter yellow or even a lovely hit of fuchsia here and there would be great, and it could even be concentrated in a large area rug. Using lots of white, also as accessories, and lamps, etc. are what I see in my mind's eye.
Just some food for thought!
