I ask people all the time: "Hey, do you hear that? That ringy noise that that TV is making?" And they look at me like... well, like I'm hearing things.
HEY! What's the buzz?!

There's a fly in my pants...
I didn't think you could hear it!

(Sorry, threads of confusion);)

You know your old when ...your son and his BFF invite me to tag along with them to see the new star wars and my initial reaction is way too excited because these 18 year olds dont mind hanging out with me because I AM that cool and second I get nauseous in theater because its 3D. Hmmmmm when did that happen? I never used to get sick during 3D

I'm not sure which is more disturbing, the 46 year old woman saying 'bff' or that it may be her 18 year old son saying it. Either way i cringe.

I almost forgot about that! That's very true. With boob tube TVs going by the wayside, soon no one will know what we've endured.

Why do you hate LEDs? Lol I never thought I'd be asking somebody that.
It's hereditary. My mom used to run an antique lighting shop... I'm used to fancy pants ambience and something about LED lights rub me the wrong way. Possibly because I can't help associating them with all of those cheapo flashlights that betrayed me while out in the woods in the rain at night, and fluorescent light bulbs (different, I know), which hypothetically can give you cancer.

Is it because of the greyish color? They have ones now called soft white and they give off the same warm light that normal bulbs give. Walmart has 60 watt ones for only around $3 each (walmart brand) and they use even less electricity than CFL's and you won't have to replace them for like twenty years... oh and the bulb part is plastic so they won't break.

Great Value LED Light Bulb 8.5W (60W Equivalent) A19 (E26), Soft White - Walmart.com
Those aren't completely horrible. But I'm still a bigot.

LEDS are actually the opposite of flourescent bulbs. Flourescents give off radiation, LEDs don't because they don't operate via chemically reacting gases. They're just little semiconductors. When electricity is connected to an LED, it makes photons which is just pure unadulterated light. It's what light is made of. If you're looking at any type of light you're looking at photons. Its almost like magic.

Here's an explanation. You only have to watch the first 50 seconds to understand it..

It was, and being related to antique dealer definitely has it's perks... having to load and unload their recent purchases isn't one of them, but getting a newly rewired copper and brass table lamp from 1910-1920 for Christmas with all of the original parts (sans old wiring) is definitely is one of them.

Helpful hint: some of them only pretend to know so much about those things ;)

On the other hand, some of them are legit history nurds. Rare history knowledge-facts + a good find = $$$ in the right market.

I wish I could, but I left it back down in TX while I'm up in school!

^^This one is slightly like it; the base for mine has a funny crescent arch to it and has a brass shade with holes punched in it that form designs. The shade is a shallow cone shape, rather than bugle-ish.

ZEROTURBULANCE,
Thank you for that informative video on
how LED lighting works.

Now if I can only figure out which way
the light is traveling through the holes .....

.....in my head.
