your choosing of calling your post, pastor bob,
reminded us of this happening....

many years ago, we made a very good friend through our work, and 'fast-forwarding' we
eventually ended-up in a home-BibleStudy with him and his pastor=bob - and several of the congregation....
the 'pastor' had a huge issue with me when I stated, that every SIN was breaking one of the Commandments...
he actually stood-up at the table and said that he was throwing a gauntlet down and challenging me to prove this...

well, our very close friend told his pastor that he was out of line for the violence that he challenged me with
and the study ended.....
later, some of his congregation asked us to come to a very lovely dinner of Phillipine cusisene=without their
pastor....

bottom line, it came out that the pastor had told our friend that he had to go into his savings in order to
become a 'deacon' in the church.....

we wonder how many times this has played-out in different churches??? it is a travesty!!!
I cared share some horror stories. Indeed troubling.

Then pastor Bob died and stood before God.

God: so Bob give me one good reason I should let you into my kingdom.

Bob: yes Lord. I'm ready to answer. I'm all about this. Hallelujah, praise the Lord, thankyou Jesus. Shulamahundiralamonta.
First off, I've been born again by the blood of the lamb. I'm a doer of Your word Lord, not just a hearer.
Ive obeyed the clarion call you gave me Lord to preach the unsearchable riches of Christ. I pastored the church you gave me, feeding my flock the word every Sunday morning and tending to their spiritual needs.

God: A doer of My word Bob? Let's talk about that. First off, since when is My flock your flock?

Bob: well I mean uh, Your flock Lord.

God: When did I tell you to quit your job which goes against My clear word in Acts 20 telling all elders to work secular jobs?

Bob: Well, uh...uh I thought that working a day job would interfere with my full time ministry.....Sir.

God: Oh, so you thought better than I did! Interesting. The only full time ministries I endorsed were my traveling preachers. You were not an apostle or missionary or evangelist. You were part of a local body. An elder who should have been working to help the poor. Again, Acts 20.

Bob: I didn't think I had to work with all the tithes coming in....

God: there's another one. I never commanded My people in the new covenant to pay tithes. That's another man made tradition that nullifies My word and brings My people under a curse according to My word in Galatians 3:10. And forcing the poor and My precious widows to cough up ten percent from their meager incomes, forgoing medicine and food while you lived in opulence?!

Bob: Ok, so I missed a few things in Your word. But I was faithful taking care of my church building.

God: When did I ever tell you to get a church building? I tore the one down in Jerusalem and told the Samaritan woman that buildings are out. I do not dwell in buildings made by hands. Worship Me in Spirit and in Truth. My first ecclesia met in homes so everyone could have a chance to minister in a small group according to 1Cor. 12, Ephesians 4, and Romans 12 with Me as the Head! In your big building you have a paying audience and an entertainer.
That's not My idea for My assembly. Have you ever tried reading My word on this Bob?

Bob: I didn't know Lord. That isn't what I was taught. I thought that all the important ministry gifts were deposited in me only...the special man of God..the Executive Pastor. My sheep refered to me as Reverend Bob their spiritual divine. They expected me to lead and do most of the ministering. I preached on those scriptures You mentioned but I guess I never took them seriously.

God: and that's another point. Where do you get off having a religious, honorific title in front of your name. In My book of Matthew chapter 23 I clearly gave the command that no one is to put a title in front of their name. This is a division. I commanded that their should be no divisions among you. That you are all simply brothers. In Matt. 20 I succinctly commanded that my ecclesia will not take on the world's corrupt form of authority.

And I tell you why you shouldn't adorn your name with an exalted title in the very same verses. It causes arrogance. They that exalt them selves with a religious title shall be brought low. And this title of Reverend......its in Psalms 111 and it refers to Me and Me alone! It means Awesome! I Am Awesome! How dare a lowly man that I created out of dirt claim to be Awesome?!

Bob: Well how were the folks to know that I'm the pastor if I didn't have a designated title Lord?

God: So how did you figure you were suppose to be a single, at the top of the heap, designated salaried pastor? Search My word. That exalted controlling single senior pastor is totally missing. My people have built their whole spiritual existence on this shadow figure called 'the pastor' of which I never endorsed in Mr word....anywhere! Take away the bogus pastor and the 'church' goes in to free fall.
Diotrephes in 3John tried for it and was rebuked. Yet My people continue to perish clinging to this deceitful misconception.

My word declares in 1Peter 5 and in Acts 20 that all the elders in a local assembly were all pastors sharing in the care and training of the new sheep. All shoulder level serving without charge. No covetous spirit. No big I's and little you's.

Bob: Lord..uh...uh..I'm speechless. I don't know how to respond. I don't know what to say other than I did teach Your word, cast out Devils, and I did many wonderful works in Your Name.....

God: that won't wash! Teaching a twisted word does not count. You still have not given Me one good reason why I should allow you to enter My holy kingdom! Not one. Everything we just discussed that I commanded in My word, you have done just the opposite!

I even sent My true servants to warn you but you cast them out of your presence.

So here's your judgement Bob...........
Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life. John 5.24

Yet has me on ignore, but I feel led to comment.

First, the OP is a fictitious and slanderous story. I think Yet needs to think about the Bible, and actually quote it. Maybe he needs to actually read the whole Bible, instead of these ridiculous verses he has torn out of context, like Acts 20. This is about Paul and the people he loves and has carried the message of the gospel to, as well as how he has shepherded them, and how sad they are he is leaving. Paul notes FOR HIMSELF, that he has not asked for money.

"Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching. For the Scripture says, “You shall not muzzle an ox when it treads out the grain,” and, “The laborer deserves his wages.” 2 Tim. 5:17-18

"For it is written in the Law of Moses, “You shall not muzzle an ox when it treads out the grain.” Is it for oxen that God is concerned? Does he not speak entirely for our sake? It was written for our sake, because the plowman should plow in hope and the thresher thresh in hope of sharing in the crop. If we have sown spiritual things among you, is it too much if we reap material things from you? If others share this rightful claim on you, do not we even more? Nevertheless, we have not made use of this right, but we endure anything rather than put an obstacle in the way of the gospel of Christ. Do you not know that those who are employed in the temple service get their food from the temple, and those who serve at the altar share in the sacrificial offerings? ..." 1 Cor. 9:9-13

"In the same way, the Lord commanded that those who proclaim the gospel should get their living by the gospel." 1 Cor. 9:14

"For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us, because we were not idle when we were with you, nor did we eat anyone's bread without paying for it, but with toil and labor we worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you. It was not because we do not have that right, but to give you in ourselves an example to imitate. For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat." 2 Thess. 3:7-10

And here is one in which Paul talks about a "gift" to meet his needs. Just like I give gifts at my church to help the pastors, and the elders and the church building upkeep.

"Even in Thessalonica you sent me help for my needs once and again. Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit. I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God. And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus."

"
What then is my reward? That in my preaching I may present the gospel free of charge, so as not to make full use of my right in the gospel. For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them." 1 Cor. 9:18-19

Paul says over and over that he did receive gifts for his work with the gospel and it is the RIGHT of a preacher or teacher to be paid. He says he doesn't on some occasion, but only because he wants people to see he is not just preaching for the money, but for souls.

Yet, you have a bitter heart, you don't know the Bible well, and you are slandering people who have dedicated their lives to serving God and HIS flock. So sorry for you. You are so out of touch with God, with his work, and his love for his people. He does not want them downcast, like a sheep without a shepherd.

"When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd." Matt 9:36

Well Angela I am sure he has me on ignore as well, I want to help him understand that what he is doing isn't for God or even about God and certainly isn't preaching the gospel like would claim he only responds to people who agree with him and ignores those who don't he a stubborn unteachable heart and these are not things one of Christ bears. Do you remember Angela how when I first came here you tried to teach me to use scripture to back up my views? Back then I was brand new into faith and relied only on my opinions had I harbored a stubborn unteachable heart I would have rejected your teachings and simply gone with what I saw right.

Back then you weren't trying to be mean you were giving correction and trying to help me grow in faith I received your correction and grew closer to God because of it, in the same way I have attempted to help yet but lashed out and retaliated.
He doesn't see that the devil is using him and while I cannot say if he will go the heaven or hell I can say that the path he walking is one where he and I will not be able to meet.

Hey, I just got done trying to share the word of God on a Catholic site. For a while I thought I was back here debating. They are just as snotty and rebellious as some of you guys. Imagine that! I hate religion, what it's done to the 'church'. Scary!

The verses themselves are not ridiculous how you used them was, it's your choice to ignore us or not but if in fact you intend to teach us the truth then isn't our little debates the way to do it?

when a miner is mining and comes across a very stubborn and very hard rock that is blocking his treasure he doesn't give up because it's so hard he keeps swinging chipping tiny bit by bit and after a long time of doing that he breaks through and finds his treasure, in the same way just because people refuse to listen doesn't mean they are unreachable. I could have decided that you will never listen and will never learn I could have ignored you or just saw you as a lost cause but even though you ignore me have you noticed I continue to try to reason with you even knowing that you most likely will not answer?

Wow. Thanks Blain. I'll keep chipping away atcha. And I'm glad you don't think the scriptures are rediculous.

When I agree with Christ that titles cause arrogance and division, you are simply saying that I'm the one who is rediculous for seeing that titles causes arrogance and division. I'm glad we got through that crisis. Smile.

Then pastor Bob died and stood before God.
I used this question to a lady in the seventh day adventist group.
I explained Jesus died for her sins and forgave her if she was prepared to believe in Him. That day she did.
I do not think Jesus will ask the question, because He has already invited us in, and He is our friend.
Jesus asked Peter, "Do you love me?"

In the parables Jesus answer to the people who come to Him who are not His
"I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!" matt 7:23

So Yet is not very biblical at all, which is strange as his analogy is claiming it is following the word.

Maybe that is quite poetic justice in one way.
