This is how I understand it; What was irrevocable was God's promise to Abraham, that the whole world would be blessed through His seed to the remnant and gentiles. Christ and the blessings that come with Him are the gifts. And the calling of the gentiles to salvation. It's not talking about individual salvation.
The gifts are:
“The Deliverer will come out of Zion,
And He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob;
27 For this is My covenant with them,
When I take away their sins.
30 For as you were once disobedient to God, yet have now obtained mercy through their disobedience

This is in the context of the verse you are referrring to (Romans 11:29).

Romans 6:23~~For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 11:29~~New American Standard Bible
for the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.
Remember, we are talking eternal death or eternal lake of fire for His "once" children or sons or His body. So we should not be able to question that God is going to toss some of His children in the Lake of fire.

I was born again on 03/03/03 at noon walking out of my shop. not me nor anyone else is going to strip me of this truth. I may be deceived(yet still saved), but you have not presented any scripture or knowledge that makes me "see." And I am open.
In fact, Grace777, anyone who doesn't accept Rufus' version of grace is meant here. Read Chapter 4 of his book again. I read it just a moment ago. Nowhere in it does he speak of his dealings with people who "were maliciously attacking and slanderously accusing him". He writes about Jesus and the Pharisees and Paul and the Galatians "and the effects of the religious spirit in action". So anyone who does not accept his teaching on grace is affected. It shouldn't bother anyone who isn't a legalist, you say. But anyone who doesn't accept Rufus' view of grace is one, by implication. I accept that you have read and heard this man a lot, Grace. Perhaps you are remembering something he said elsewhere. Either way, none of the words I quoted earlier are exactly full of grace, seasoned with salt, are they? And Colossians 4:6 also applies to Rob Rufus.
Let me ask a simple question, is Grace7x77 saved? How can I make such a call or judgement? I know many people who I would call brothers, yet appear to have strayed. Jesus said if I believe on Him I am saved, which also means following and obeying. The work is dynamic, daily, active.
Now here is a teacher, who is pushing big time teachers who call this behaviour evil. In effect they are saying the church has problems because they are being obedient without the right spirit. You then find salvation is split between before Christ and after Christ which has always been an intellectual leap in our thinking going from one to one with Jesus to the whole nation Israel.
But I come back, to the blessing I have had from simple people just believing Jesus and walking daily in Him. Yet these people are called evil. The fruit here is not building on Jesus's work but attempting to pull it down for no good reason other than a conviction of a lack of understanding Gods love. Now I 100% agree, it is because of a lack of understanding Gods love, but it is not legalism that is the issue, it is in not realising they can change. The emotional buttons that hold them do not need to be there.
So fundamental is this poison, I do not see the Lord preaching it, but the enemy wanting to bring condemnation and not freedom to peoples hearts. How can a truly saved person deny such a fundamental part of the truth unless then never really had it in the first place. This will not bother them because they are sure they are preaching truth and we are the evil enemy who do not understand the unbelievable work on the Cross. But we do, which takes away the very proposition they are making. And we all stand amazed that these people have come from among us to listen to such a deceptive spirit.
I'll do that as soon as you quit confessing what the gnostics believed, i.e., that a person's salvation cannot be forfeited based on what is done in the body. You've even taken it so far to say that a person can commit apostasy and still be saved.
