Wondering what you guys think about this. I have a few Mormon acquaintances that I dearly love, and I'm just curious about the legitimacy of the actual Book that they incorporate into their walks with God.

Mormonism is a cult that has very different ideas of Jesus and God and Satan, among other things. It is it's own separate religion (thought they try to claim to be Christians). Their religion is founded on a man, Joseph Smith, who told his story of how he got the book of Mormon, but every story he told was different. He was also a notorious liar, thief and conman.
The bible says not to add to, or take away from it, yet in a sense, that is what Mormons are doing.

Okay, for one, where are you sourcing your claims about Mr. Smith from? About him being a theif? I'd like to believe you and all, but I NEED hard evidence, because who's to say that you aren't the liar? I'm really sorry to say that, but I have to be sure is all. And, two, can you give me the passage where the Bible says not to add to or take away from the Scriptures? 'Cause I've been trying to find it, but I haven't yet. Thanks!

Wow. You have a crappy attitude. You talk down to people, yet you are the one who is so ignorant. Disrespectful brat of a child.

I don't usually jump into Teens forum or none of that. It's a fair question to ask no matter stance on mormonism even for your age. Here's a fairly good documentary in my own personal opinion from multiple perspectives for you to consider between Biblical, Mormon, and Secular perspectives and evidence comparison of The Bible and the Book of Mormon and whether they are comparable as the opening of Book of Mormon states. Also compared with secular type proofs, archaeology, basic history, basic narrative comparison, etc.

Judge for yourself, but just maybe an interesting little video for your consideration, it was one I found a while a go and I think they did a decent job. Many good proofs for the Bible even still today praise Jesus.

Listen, Ugly. I'd say something really condescending too if I were as sour you, but, as God would have me behave, I will not. I am in no way superior to you. We're both sinners, so what reason would I have to 'talk down' to you? I asked you a very simple question (from where are you drawing your claims), but if you're too bull-headed to answer without taking offense (and, of all things, retaliating in such a truly disrespectful manner; I am no mere brat, sir), then I'm afraid that I've no further reason to read your posts.

I'm really sorry guys, but I'm not going to keep reading your answers on account of Ugly's bad manners here (unless, of course, he were to apologize). Thank you for what you did give me though (I found the video to be quite... enlightening. Okay, I cracked up at the secret handshake part -- that's just hilarious!!).

And I realize now that my fault was telling 'unhelpful people' to 'get out' rather gruffly, and I apologize for that. Definately not cool of me. But please, Ugly, refrain from throwing such damaging remarks as 'disrespectful brat of a child' at people you don't even really know. It hurts more than you'd think, and isn't very proper, to boot. I'll try to be more respectful from now on, and I recommend that you do the same for yourself. God bless you.

Here are the verses you were looking for:

Revelation 22:18-19 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: (19) And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Deuteronomy 4:2 “You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take anything from it

Proverbs 30:6. "Add thou not unto His words, lest He reprove thee, and thou be found a liar"

Mormons are a facet of this world's Christianity, sure, just like any version or denomination in the institutions of religion. The book of Mormon or any books or materials used along side of the bible are just that, outside of God's word, not God's word or instruction, to be precise.

And this is why, God said His word is pure, and it is written "God cannot lie", Scripture the holy word of God states the dispensation and ministry in trusted to the Apostle Paul was to "fulfil the word of God." Also, God's word states, that God "lastly appeared" and was seen by Apostle Paul, for this purpose, to complete or "fulfil" the word of God.

25Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God

This is a curious sect of people who trace their roots from Joseph Smith, a yesteryear mystic from the early 1800's. Therein is our first red flag....founded by Joseph Smith, not JESUS CHRIST! You will find no hope of salvation from the work done by JESUS CHRIST, but you will find total confusion..and confusion only comes from one source...and it's NOT from GOD....Red flag number 2 !!!!!! The list goes on and on... Honestly, if most people actually studied the real truth about how their particular 'religion" or denomination started, most would RUN !!!!!!!

Hi laoshanlung... I don't hang out in the Teens forum, but this thread title caught my eye.

I would like to commend you specifically for requesting evidence; that's a good trait (when done respectfully! ;) ). Have a look at Acts 17:11 when you have a moment.

Keep searching for truth... :)

I heard The Book of Mormon is a great musical.

The thing I've always wondered about this cult....why do so many Mormons have perfectly symmetrical faces?
