Laugh....cry......dunno

Somebody's little rock pile has got to be getting dangerously low

"That was my conclusion, but also from the other end of the scale. If man is made with a heart of love, but hurt and disappointment cause them to shut this down, fill their lives with sin and destruction, out of which is only chaos and anarchy, there is nothing there to turn into eternal functioning whole, so all there is left is to burn it up.

To take this dis-functioning person and torture them for something they were slaves to seems both unjust and pointless. "

Your words, Mr Jens, from another thread....and you think I'm off the wall?????????????

I don't think God's justice is either unjust or pointless and Hell does exist for the unsaved not just Satan and his cohorts.

Recall Paul and the thorn in the side(2 Cor 12:7-10). Pride is a ministry killer, because it's an unseen enemy that festers in one's heart. Even the apostle Paul was vulnerable to this venom, so in this case we see his thorn was used to keep him humble! Jeremiah rightly declares who we ought to glory in!

"Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD" Jer 9:23-24

Proverbs 6:16-19 GNT

There are seven things that the Lord hates and cannot tolerate: A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that kill innocent people, a mind that thinks up wicked plans, feet that hurry off to do evil, a witness who tells one lie after another, and someone who stirs up trouble among friends.

Note: pride is no 1 on God's hate list

Well, at least on Solomon's.... lol

One thing I've learned is that if you can remove ALL pride, its impossible for anyone to insult you.

Yes they still can, you jerk! LOL Just playin to prove a point. :) Perhaps you meant it does not bother you as much when they insult you? :)

Please stop!!! Every thread it's the same old same old, There is NO LOVE in what you "preach" crashing cymbal

I don't call people names. As for "hypergrace" I can only say this when I pray I alwys pray for others while I ask God's forgiveness where I have "missed the mark" it's not because I have lost my salvation it is because I know His ways are the right ways not mine. The fact that I don't spend all my prayer time pleading for forgiveness for every single sin I may be aware of and the ones I'm not aware of doesn't not mean that I trample on Jesus grace, on the contrary it makes it all the more precious to me. The fact that He loves me inspite of myself humbles me. The fact that He forgives and loves me makes it far easier to yield because He won't throw me out when I make a mistake but will be faithful like He promised and conform me to the image of His Son.

So if you think that is hypergrace, I'm guilty.

Okay...just a couple of points here. It's ironic to call someone a crashing cymbal (and all that that spiritually implies re: 1 Cor 13) and then claim that you don't call people names. Really, it's more than irony, it's dissembling and allowing yourself latitude where you clearly disallow it in others. Additionally, it's also interesting that you'd bring up comments from other boards considering that part of 1 Cor 13 is LOVE KEEPS NO RECORD OF WRONGS.

Having said that, I'd like to make an observation about Peter. He has a very Nederlandish way of expressing himself. I've noticed that this rubs a lot of Americans the wrong way. They get bogged down in how he is saying something instead of focusing on what he is saying. Or they don't follow his thinking well because they cannot connect with how he is expressing himself, and they end up presuming incorrectly.

He has a very deliberate and impartial tone in many of his posts, so I've seen a lot of people presume that he has no emotions. Therefore, they feel free to speak to/of him in some fairly insulting and cruel ways. As if he's not a human made in the image of God. Peter, btw, handles this pretty darn well.

I just don't get why people give themselves a pass to go off on other people simply because they're irritated or because they disagree with their theology. I don't get why Christians who supposedly have experienced the lavish grace of Jesus are so quick to insult others. You would think that a person who has a true understanding of how desperately they need a Savior would be very quick to forgive the peccadilloes of others.

Isn't that form of pride? My sins are forgiven by Jesus, but I get to grind you down with your sins because I derive pleasure from this?

Beloved, let us love one another. For love is of God and everyone that loves is born of God and knows God. He that loves not, knows not God, for God is love. 1 John 4:7-8

This is the point about righteousness and truth.

His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire.
Matt 3:12

When Jesus makes us born again, he makes a functioning whole. This is about connecting up the whole parts of a person into something that works, that feels, that is consistent, that follows standards, that understands the place for everything.

The world of sin and death is a world of disfunctional behaviour, betrayals, broken relationships, friendships, unreliable agreements, empty promises etc. Nothing works or hangs together other than by pretending it is all ok.
Before perfection it unravels. It also unravels because at our hearts we love, but we have betrayed this, we have led ourselves in sin to our own destruction.

Hell is not a place of punishment, but rather a place of final consequence. There is nothing left to save, it simply does not work.

Or maybe you have not recognised this about righteousness and Jesus.

And I am not trying to confess all my sins, I actually spend my time trying to see what the next thing is to do, and to walk in love. I am not aware of "sins" like you appear to be, but rather what I am trying to do within the constraints I am living with. I am not thinking I am desperately lost, without love or fellowship with the Lord, because I walk in love.

I am content with what I have been given to do, and try to do it as the Lord leads. I hope I have learnt finally to just follow and not think oh no, not another ... but praise the Lord, another opportunity to serve my King.

So you think sins go to hell because they failed in one sin in their life? Sin is just a symtom of a problem of no relationship with God. Once you have the relationship through Christ, everything changes.

And I relate to your sense of wonder at Christ accepting us, but I do not see sin or failure like you do. You have this picture in your mind of lots of sins. What are you referring to and have you ever worked this thought through to particulars?

If you ever do I think you will find it does not make sense but is a con-trick the enemy is playing on you through condemnation.

He has a very Nederlandish way of expressing himself

I apologise for coming across like this. I will try and do better for the american audience. Unfortunately comes with being a business analyst and breaking down ideas into their parts.

The Rise and Fall of pride...one man's story...

Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
(Php 3:4-9)

...Pride runs deeper than we know,
only His Spirit can uproot our proud show.

Here is one especially a propos for those of us here on CC...

Now concerning food offered to idols: We know that we all possess knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.
(1Co 8:1)

I guess I should be more like you??????

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
Mat 11:28-30

I wonder who listens to Jesus and believes His words.

You will be ever hearing but never understanding;
you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.
For this people’s heart has become calloused;
they hardly hear with their ears,
and they have closed their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
hear with their ears,
understand with their hearts
and turn, and I would heal them.
Matt 13:14-15

All who trust in the Lord Jesus Christ shall be saved for all who trust in Him, God is able to save to the uttermost

An undeserved curse is like a fluttering sparrow or a darting swallow
..it does not come to rest

That reminds me of a guy that called up this Christian guy to put curses on him..it's kinda hilarious actually....he says to him..."how long have you been a Satanists?...because you are not very good at it.."...

But I wasn't insulted :) I guess insults can be thrown, but if there's no receiver, its of no effect?

The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love.

The Lord detests the way of the wicked, but he loves those who pursue righteousness.

Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the Lord.

Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to him.

And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.

"Psalm 33:5" "Proverbs 15:9" "Psalm 119:1" "Psalm 128:1" "2 John 1:6"

It would be strange to imagine these words would be written if it was not possible to do.
Do not let the lies of those who are lost deny you the prize of what communion with God delivers.

Some think to walk in righteousness is pride, but love is not full of pride but appropriate response.

Please go easy on our brother Peter. He is working it all out with God, just as each of us is.Can't you see how much he has grown in love towards us over the past week or so?
His posts have changed toward us dramatically through Gods grace to Him.
He is still Peter, but through love He has become OUR Peter.
He has learned a lot and don't we all see an improvement in humility and gentleness that our Lord is causing him to walk in towards us?
This is cause for thanksgiving.
Treat him as you would your younger brother and have some patience and gentleness even if you feel you have to remind him to share what He is learning with joy rather with condemning tones.
We all know this is how our Lord wants us to walk with each other.
