Did you know Jesus was called a heretic? They killed him for that!

Today anybody who chooses to try and follow Jesus and makes one mistake falls into that category.

Thank God for mercy.

Very true. And today if a believer takes this faith business too seriously so they start talking about love and grace and mercy all the time; as if God actually and really loves them personally, they get called heretical also.

The thing is, we have seen His hand in our lives when we knew we did not deserve it. Just like the blind man who didn't understand all that happened to him., when he answered the pharisees "I don't know but I do know once I was blind but now I see."

That is how we know Jesus heals. We don't understand why some are not healed. We don't know why all the T's are not crossed yet or the I's not dotted yet.... but we do know we have been healed and that is enough for us. When you get a revelation of the love and grace of God in your heart and life you don't go back.

And I've also observed that when times do get hard even after a major victory in my life., and should I begin to get discouraged., God yet again draws me in by His Word and also by yet more circumstances brought to bear in my life. So I see again and again His watch care and again can say with all confidence and faith He IS faithful to do what He says. He loves me and because He loves me., I love Him and can trust Him with my body as well as my soul and spirit.

I've repeatedly seen people mention that Jesus always healed everyone. As you probably know, he lived his life as an example of how we as believers are to live. His ministry on earth had the power of an "ideal Christian", I would say; a human servant of God. If you remember his temptation in the wilderness, he didn't use His divine "superpowers".
Mark Chapter 6 shows when Jesus went to his home town and was limited to only healing a few people by laying hands on them. He was a prophet without honor, amazed at their lack of faith.
This passage shows some amazing insight into those times when Jesus had very limited success. It's a clue-brick for us.
Blessings my friends!

I don't mean to sound blasphemous, I really don't. But I'm sorry, I just don't completely believe ALOT of what's been said and done by God in the bible. Either I'm missing something, or he contradicts himself alot. I DO NOT believe he heals ALL of us, and I DO NOT believe he doesn't give us more of a load than we can bear. If he did, alot more people would be "miraculously" healed on a DAILY basis, and not so many people would commit suicide because they felt they're burdened with too heavy a load..

No one can walk in your shoes nor do they know the things you are feeling like you do. Same with me. Only Jesus knows where we are and how we are feeling and why. He knows every reason, every confusion every heart ache we have personally and cares.

The Lord is my Shepherd to feed guide and shield me, I shall not lack.

He makes me lie down in fresh tender green pastures; He leads me beside the still and restful waters.

He refreshes and restores my life (my self) He leads me in the paths of righteousness uprightness and right standing with Him....(not for my earning it, but for His name's sake).

Yes, though I walk through the deep sunless valley of the shadow of death. I will fear or dread no evil, for You are with me; Your rod (to protect) and Your staff (to guide), they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my brimming cup runs over.

Surely or only goodness, mercy, and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, and through the length of my days the house of the Lord and His presence shall be my dwelling place.

Wired first? Spent 20 yrs. In a traditional church. Had a lot of questions after waking up from some unusual dreams I believed were from the Lord. Never had them before at least had'nt remembered them. The pastors could not answer my questions about what they ment. Asked everyone I knew again no one had answers. So I inquired of the Lord and he started showing me in the word the meaning of these dreams. My faith grew and daily the Lord was speaking and showing me things I never knew before. I was awoken to a whole new journey with the Lord. I'm not sure if anyone had fallen asleep in their faith but that is how I can discrib the difference. Like the SPirit of God woke me up.

I got "woke up" too but in a different way fitted for my personality and what I was going through at the time. (Same Jesus, different child) But I came to many of the same conclusions you have. Evidenced by my many "LIKES" of your posts. I've also found how Jesus has dealt with me one on one and no one else could go with me. Much like that song "Though none go with me, still I will follow"

I KNOW...RIGHT!!!????!!!! (As the kids say)

Didn't imagine there would be this much debate over healing but as I dared look into some of the other topics it was the same or even worse.
The enemy sure hates this place he'll rise up any puppet he can find and use them. I guess that is why I left a few years back.

Have to rember to keep my armor on in here. Is no wonder I have to be a commander. Lol

The Spirit of the Lord did something similar a few years ago now...one morning He woke me up with a scripture inside of my spirit. It was so alive and loving at the same time. I was just basically living my life and He started to reveal His grace to me. Then His nature. So for about a 6 month period I would get a new scripture just about every day. I never listened to anyone on the internet and then I was led to a few different ones and they were echoing the same things the Lord was showing me.

I could never go back to that dead religion of self-performance. So every now and then I still get a scripture as I write them down and take one a day and meditate on them to get them cemented into my unrenewed mind.

He has shown me how wonderful and beautiful He really is and the love He has for us is amazing. The scriptures have just come alive to me as they reveal Jesus. I love our Father and our Lord Jesus...getting to know the Holy Spirit in me better too...:)

YES and Amen... Same Jesus, different child. Jesus in you...the hope of glory. Jesus in each one of us and we do each get that personal hope of glory. A revelation of the love of God in Christ for me! And each one of us can say that with full assurance. :)

Thanks lady have had that connection with many since awakening seems many have gone though this.
I can relate to the one on one was like the Spirit romanced me for nearly 3yrs straight. Teaching me things I never knew and love was the greates.!

Apparently you do care. You and others claimed he was a heretic. You tried your best to show that but failed pretty quick at it because it isn't true. Nice try though. Hagin and the Word-faith/prosperity teachers are easily proven heretics.

If you guys are gonna make claims, at least be able to defend your point. So far you can't. I find it not so ironic that you guys defending Word-faith have no way of defending what you actually believe scripturally. There are a few go-to verses that are commonly used among you, and even those aren't understood by many of you.

Just swallow your pride, look at the evidences, and admit that Word-faith teaches occultism as doctrine. It will only hurt for a minute I promise.
Well indeed I do care about that false teaching about suicide and the Blood of Jesus doesn't sound good what he teaches, because I care about people, but I only looked it up for that reason. It does bother me that so much people follow him and do like him, write the whole charismatic movement off and because some Copeland believes little gods whatever nonsense
God stopped healing 2000 years ago. He preaches cessationism and grieves the Holy Spirit like that guy said during his meeting and others follow him and do the same. I think Michael Brown put it best and he's really concerned about him.

And please from what I showed here, that's WOF teaching. What exactly is occult about it? Bible texts please, not: so and so is a heretic so it's all occult.

Just look at how he treated that guy in his congregation who told him he grieved the Holy Spirit. Control and pride from here to Tokyo.

Copeland isn't the only one. It's the doctrine all WoF proponents teach. There is enough sources for research available and I would recommend you look into it. Pertaining to healing and continuationism:

Healing - Everyone should be healed physically and spiritually after conversion. This is standard WoF doctrine.

1. Many WoF preachers or their kids or spouses or all in the past have died from or suffered from physical ailments (heart disease and cancer primarily)

2. E.W. Kenyon who was plagiarized by Hagin to jump start the WoF movement died of a malignant brain tumor

3. Hagin suffered on four different occasions cardiovascular failure; Christianity in Crises, pp.237-238; a Different Gospel by D.L McConnell

4. Hagin claims he was healed of numerous sicknesses a “deformed heart,” “paralysis,” and “incurable blood disease.” He also declared his “healing from the top of my head to the soles of my feet” on August 7, 1934, so that “every symptom of distress, deficiency and physical wrongness was driven out of my body,” perpetually. “I'm still healed after 49 years,” Hagin said. (Kenneth E. Hagin, Exceedingly Growing Faith, 2d rev. ed. [Tulsa, OK: Kenneth Hagin Ministries, 1990, 48-49, 82-83.) His healing occurred on Tuesday of the “second week” of August 1934, or August 7, which was not the same date as the “second Tuesday” that month [August 14). Elsewhere Hagin gives various dates, such as “6 days before my 17th birthday [August 20, 1934,” which would be August 14, the “second Tuesday of August 1934”: (Kenneth E. Hagin, El Shaddai [Tulsa, OK: Kenneth Hagin Ministries, 19801, 24-25.) But see Kenneth E. Hagin, How You Can Be Led by the Spirit of God (Tulsa, OK: Kenneth Hagin Ministries, 1978), 87 (healing on a “Thursday” in August 1934). In still another place Hagin claims his healing was on “August 8, 1934,” which was a Wednesday (Kenneth E. Hagin, Zoe: The God-Kind of Life [Tulsa, OK: Kenneth Hagin Ministries, 1981], 13.) Maybe Hagin needs his memory healed as well. (adopted from Christianity in Crises)

Kenneth Hagin died Sept. 23.2003 After eating breakfast his head fell to his chest. Charisma News Service reported that “An exact cause of death was not immediately known” Hagin had been hospitalized in a cardiac intensive care unit since Sept. 14, when he collapsed at home. (Charisma News Service September 23, 2003 edition People & Lifestyle) We later find out that was transported by an ambulance admitted to the cardiac intensive care unit and remained in the hospital until he died. This become an interesting point of contention because Hagin claimed he was healed of his heart problem supernaturally years before. He also held to the belief that one should actually wear out, not die this way. Death by Faith

5. On January 6, 1999 Diane Sawyer, and Sam Donaldson of 20/20 did a report on the Followers of Christ, where over a thousand people attend a small church outside Portland, Oregon. An alarming number of children in the Followers have died while their parents prayed instead of getting a doctor. 78 children are buried since 1955 in the Followers of Christ cemetery just outside Oregon City. Doctors said at least 21 probably would have lived with medical intervention, often by using simple antibiotics. 20/20 - Taking Faith Healing to (sic) Far? (20/20 interview)

6. An article in the Journal of Pediatrics examined the deaths of 172 children from families who relied upon faith healing from 1975 to 1995. They concluded that four out of five ill children who died under the care of faith healers would most likely have survived, if they had received medical care. Eighty-one percent of the deaths were caused by conditions that had a medical survival rate of 90%. http://childrenshealthcare.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/Pediatricsarticle.pdf (Child Fatalities From Religion-motivated Medical Neglect)

I could go on about the deaths, but this is a good starting point for anyone who wants to look into it. Beyond the obvious dangers of this teaching, let's examine where their "perfect health in the atonement" doctrine comes from and why it is heretical:

WoF preachers quote Isaiah 53:5 and Matthew 8:17 which is a quote of Isaiah 53:5. They claim that these verses are "proof text" for physical healing always in the hear and now. Apart from the many thousands of deaths that have resulted in this claim, they have abused these verses to push their agenda. These verses in no way validate their doctrine that everyone should be physically well. The atonement by definition was to atone for our sin "sickness", not physical ailments. We won't fully realize perfection in our bodies til we are given new ones.

To further push this doctrine of perfect health, they teach "faith as a force" or "positive confession". They cite Proverbs 18:21 as "proof text". But the text itself does not mean we have the power of creation or uncreation as they promote it. We can't "speak things into existence". This is an occult doctrine adapted from "New Thought" which was introduced first by Kenyon and next by Hagin. This is called the "law of attraction" and is not biblical. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_attraction_(New_Thought)

They use this "law of attraction" doctrine to support their "little gods" doctrine since a little god should never be sick. All of the WoF preachers support the little gods doctrine regardless of what you believe. You can find videos of all of them on youtube teaching this at one time or another. The only person in the bible to claim to be a god, other than God, is satan. In fact, the WoF teachers are simply repeating the lie told to Eve by satan in the garden.

Furthermore, let's forget they teach all of this and forget the thousands of deaths that have resulted in their abberant teaching and focus on who they believe Christ is. Many of them claim that Jesus was born a man just like us and without deity. They claim he later bacame divine and went to the cross. While on the cross, they claim he "took on the nature of satan" and lost his deity again. From here, he went to hell and suffered at the hands of demons for 3 days (this is an adaptation of hell as described in Dante's Inferno and not scripture). They claim Jesus was then "the first born again man" and was released from hell and reclaiming his deity. They push this doctrine to further their little gods doctrine, by claiming we all become deity, equal to God once we are born again.

These are heretical teachings pushed by WoF teachers. Many thousands have died from these teachings and they prey on the poor as they fleece them for every cent, promising them miracles and healing for their faith and monetary dontations. If you can't see the utter darkness and evil nature of these doctrines, them I am so sorry for you.

I could have written you a book and cited tons of valid sources, but there just isn't enough room on the forum to show you all my points. That is why I urge you or anyone else to seriously do their own studies into this and see for themselves what the WoF movement is born from. It is not Christian. It is mostly just satanic.

Here is a good article:

Question: "Is the Word of Faith movement biblical?"

Answer:
Word of Faith teaching is decidedly unbiblical. It is not a denomination and does not have a formal organization or hierarchy. Instead, it is a movement that is heavily influenced by a number of high-profile pastors and teachers such as Kenneth Hagin, Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland, Paul and Jan Crouch, and Fred Price.

The Word of Faith movement grew out of the Pentecostal movement in the late 20th century. Its founder was E. W. Kenyon, who studied the metaphysical New Thought teachings of Phineas Quimby. Mind science (where "name it and claim it" originated) was combined with Pentecostalism, resulting in a peculiar mix of orthodox Christianity and mysticism. Kenneth Hagin, in turn, studied under E. W. Kenyon and made the Word of Faith movement what it is today. Although individual teachings range from completely heretical to completely ridiculous, what follows is the basic theology most Word of Faith teachers align themselves with.

At the heart of the Word of Faith movement is the belief in the "force of faith." It is believed words can be used to manipulate the faith-force, and thus actually create what they believe Scripture promises (health and wealth). Laws supposedly governing the faith-force are said to operate independently of God's sovereign will and that God Himself is subject to these laws. This is nothing short of idolatry, turning our faith—and by extension ourselves—into god.

From here, its theology just strays further and further from Scripture: it claims that God created human beings in His literal, physical image as little gods. Before the fall, humans had the potential to call things into existence by using the faith-force. After the fall, humans took on Satan's nature and lost the ability to call things into existence. In order to correct this situation, Jesus Christ gave up His divinity and became a man, died spiritually, took Satan's nature upon Himself, went to hell, was born again, and rose from the dead with God's nature. After this, Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to replicate the Incarnation in believers so they could become little gods as God had originally intended.

Following the natural progression of these teachings, as little gods we again have the ability to manipulate the faith-force and become prosperous in all areas of life. Illness, sin, and failure are the result of a lack of faith, and are remedied by confession—claiming God's promises for oneself into existence. Simply put, the Word of Faith movement exalts man to god-status and reduces God to man-status. Needless to say, this is a false representation of what Christianity is all about. Obviously, Word of Faith teaching does not take into account what is found in Scripture. Personal revelation, not Scripture, is highly relied upon in order to come up with such absurd beliefs, which is just one more proof of its heretical nature.

Countering Word of Faith teaching is a simple matter of reading the Bible. God alone is the Sovereign Creator of the Universe (Genesis 1:3; 1 Timothy 6:15) and does not need faith—He is the object of faith (Mark 11:22; Hebrews 11:3). God is spirit and does not have a physical body (John 4:24). Man was created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26, 27; 9:6), but this does not make him a little god or divine. Only God has a divine nature (Galatians 4:8; Isaiah 1:6-11, 43:10, 44:6; Ezekiel 28:2; Psalm 8:6-8). Christ is Eternal, the Only Begotten Son, and the only incarnation of God (John 1:1, 2, 14, 15, 18; 3:16; 1 John 4:1). In Him dwelt the fullness of the Godhead bodily (Colossians 2:9). By becoming a man, Jesus gave up the glory of heaven but not His divinity (Philippians 2:6-7), though He did choose to withhold His power while walking the earth as man.

The Word of Faith movement is deceiving countless people, causing them to grasp after a way of life and faith that is not biblical. At its core is the same lie Satan has been telling since the Garden: “You shall be as God” (Genesis 3:5). Sadly, those who buy into the Word of Faith movement are still listening to him. Our hope is in the Lord, not in our own words, not even in our own faith (Psalm 33:20-22). Our faith comes from God in the first place (Ephesians 2:8; Hebrews 12:2) and is not something we create for ourselves. So, be wary of the Word of Faith movement and any church that aligns itself with Word of Faith teachings.

Is the Word of Faith movement biblical?

What a nice job you did have you been cutting and pasting long? I'm not a groupy of WOF or Hagin but !such of what I have read here is pretty much crap. Maybe if you did some study yourself instead of just picking this junk off the internet you !right gain some real insight to what the word of God says rather the some man. Man lies God don't.

Attacks always show all the faults of an individual with a bunch of supposed data to suporrt the claim.

Did all these deaths and his come from his teaching? I don't know I didn't see who or how they were compiled.

Now the Scripture specifically Isaiah 53:5 does deal with the healing of the soul! The stretch that they are suggesting the soul is some how not the body I am questioning.

Man is made up of body soul spirit. One living soul(being) we are to some extent like god three in one. Created in His image. As well as God can not be separated our body can not either.

I have more to say but /new on that for a bit.

C'mon people, don't derail this thread with junk about WOF.. This thread is about healing, not WOF gibberish and hooey.. :/

I am not the so-called WOF either...but I do see some truths that are for us today. In all teachings I try to spit out the sticks while I'm eating the hay and every teacher has some sticks in their teachings. We all know in part only.

What they do on the internet is when they don't agree with a teaching or usually the person themselves which they love to attack personally.... ....they can sometimes "twist" what is said and then take those words out of context to make it "appear' to be something that is was not originally meant to be.

And of course they are all heretics and false teachers if they don't believe the way they do. ( like the gifts of the Spirit are not for today...healing is not for us....the true grace of Christ...etc ).

We can go to the internet and type in anyone's name and put in false teacher ..or heretic ....and you will find everyone that is well known is a heretic to some one else....it's the nature of the beast for these self-proclaimed heretic hunters. They all have scriptures too which are usually just taken out of context or it is their interpretation being put on a specific group or belief. I just ignore them.

The Spirit of God will not be deterred from bringing the truth of the liberty and the grace of the gospel of Christ to people if they are open to Him. Some of the people that are just "kicking against the goads" will have the truth of Jesus revealed to them too in His time.

Isaiah 53.5-6 is dealing with the 'iniquity of us all'. Full stop. It is not dealing with physical healing.

in matt 8.17 it is expanded to apply to JESUS healing. HIS healing was seen as a fulfilment of the prophecy. He had come to deal with sin and His healing ministry was seen as part of it.. It does not refer to healing generally. It is in fact a very loose rendering of the Hebrew, very like LXX.

I believe in the gifts of the Spirit. But is says SOME will have gifts of healing, (VV 8-10) which means the majority will not (v30). And the NT suggests they are comparatively few.
