belief is not the same as faith.. That was James point,, I can believe all I want, if I have no faith, it is useless.
"Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But will thou know,
O vain man, that faith without works is dead?"
-Religion VS Jesus DO VS DONE, Explanation of Scripture The "RELIGIOUS" USE TO DENY SALVATION BY GRACE ALONE
James is creating a fictitious character and he does this by saying, "yea a man may say". James calls this man "O vain man".
The difference between devils and humans is God decided to die for humans and not devils.
"Jesus said, That whosoever BELIEVETH in him should not perish, but HAVE eternal life (John 3:15)
"Jesus said, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever BELIEVETH in him should not perish, but HAVE everlasting life (John 3:16)
"Jesus said, He that BELIEVETH on him is NOT condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God (John 3:18)
"Jesus said, Veril, Verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and BELIEVETH on him that sent me, HATH everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. (John 6:29)
"Jesus said, ANd this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and BELIEVETH on him, may HAVE everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day (John 6:40)
"Jesus said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that BELIEVETH on me HATH everlasting life (John 6:47)
"Jesus said, HE that BELIEVETH on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of LIVING water. (John 7:38)
"Jesus said, Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that BELIEVETH in me, though he were dead, yet shall he LIVE: (John 11:25)
The devils believe that Jesus exists but can't trust Him (Jesus) for salvation because Jesus didn't die for them.
Are you going to say that belief isn't enough?
"If the works for salvation-ist were honest, he would have replied,'No Lord, I don't believe you; for even the devils believe and tremble'!
Doesn't that sound like a foolish answer? Oh vain man, Is faith without works dead?
-Quotes from Preston Greene, "Religion VS JESUS, DO VS Done!"
The problem here is unbelief.
Romans 1:16 ¶ For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
If you don't believe then you think that the Gospel of Christ is not the power of God and so you look to works to save you which won't save.
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 1 John 1:12Jesus said,"And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die, Believest thou this?" (John 11:26)
