Hi Zero,

Thanks so much for your sympathies and concerns! :) Unfortunately, what happened would not be seen as the store's fault. Everywhere you go, merchandise gets shipped in stacks that are always too high (even our boss, who is 6 feet tall, has to get a step stool to reach the top, and I'm only about 5 feet tall.)

I was reaching for a box but didn't see another box stacked on top of it that was filled with much heavier glass items. WHAM!!! The second box fell and hit me right in the face, pushing my glasses into my face very hard. Ever since it happened (about 13 hours ago), I've had large "floating" pieces going across my left eye, and that eye has now become a bit sore.

While I'm sure they won't consider this as applicable for workman's comp (and if I tried to claim it as such it would probably be more hassle than it's worth), if I can get it classified as a medical issue, I might be able to get insurance to pay for part of the visit. I have regular insurance (praise the Lord), but don't yet qualify for the company's vision plan.

Thank you all so much for your help, concerns, and maybe I can even ask for a few prayers. :) I'll keep you posted as I find out more today.
As Zero already posted, ANY injury that happens while on the clock is a workman's comp injury regardless of whether your employer was negligent or not unless the laws in your state are VERY different than most. You could be an absolute clutz and break your arm after tripping over your own feet and it would still be on their tab. Negligence on the employers part only plays a role in workman's comp in determining a final settlement if you were to sue the employer in civil court for your injury.

You should file a claim just to cover your butt regardless of how minor the injury seems just in case you end up with long term impairment that affects your ability to work because most states do have a limited amount of time post injury that you can file. By far better to file and not need it that not file and wish you had.

If your employer balks at the claim talk to a attorney, most that specialize in workman's compensation do free consultations.

When you are happy and proud of yourself because you are developing muscles...

...but then you get sick and suddenly walking up the stairs leaves you more winded than that friend of yours who ate too much raw cabbage the other night.

Someone in my IT department at university once told me, every OTHER windows OS is good. It's like they push out a glitchy, half finished product in between to satisfy people always wanting something new/to make more money.

ME was really just the prequel to XP. Vista should have been 7. Windows 8 was really just an unfinished Windows 10. So on...

That makes sense. There's so many little things that just don't make sense, none of the software saves previous settings or anything so if you open something new you have to adjust the software for every single use of it. It's dumb.

Have you tried Classic Shell? Its a free program that makes windows 8/8.1 look and act like windows 7. I hated windows 8 too until I tried classic shell. I've been using win 8 with CS for a few years now and its been great.

here's a link to it: Classic Shell - Free download and software reviews - CNET Download.com

Reece.... I AM your friend.

Mmm... I'd believe that, if you weren't going to send me down a dark path of destructive evil. Then again, I suppose I don't have to act like someone to be their friend, so how sure, why not.

So yeah... I mean, I'll be your friend, definitely, but I won't join the dark side. Sorry.

Oh my, I totally hate Power Point, it makes me procrastinate, and I feel like giving up on everything if I have to be using that evil thing. Poor Melita, go get a white board and you'll be fine:).
