Christian Post Rock

Okay, so this is actually gonna make me sound very very silly, but I actually just recently found out that the sound that I really like, the music groups I enjoy the most, they actually identify their sound under a name of a music genre, post rock : p I hadnt really even heard this term until I read the youtube comments under the songs I was listening to on youtube : p But yeah, turns out I can now use a name to explain what kinda sound Im really into : p


But yeah, I really want to find good Christian music, but Ive said before, Im really really picky about sound. Honestly, I dont listen to lyrics when listening to music, Im listening to the melodies, all the instruments playing together, how they play off each other. I never really listen to lyrics, and I even enjoy instrumental music just to get away from lyrics.

I want to find Christian music I can get into, but the majority of the music is stuff I really dont find pleasing to listen to at all : p Its generally made up of one or two instruments and focuses mostly on lyrics, so I get bored of it quickly.

I dunno if anyone really knows anything about post rock, or if there are many Christian post rock bands out there. But Id really like to find some. I looked for some on youtube like once, but the results were mostly just more general acoustic guitar singer songwriter stuff, which is not what Im looking for : p

I don't think this band had any singing or lyrics spoken in the music. It at least might musically be the sound you are wanting to hear.

Oh, haha. This is a little heavier than what Id usually listen to : p (Or at least faster paced, Im not against guitar distortion or anything) But its definitely interesting, I like it a bunch. Will use them as a stepping stone to find other groups. Thanks : 3

hee hee i go by the name "post" in a lot of places online.. particularly on some music-related chatrooms..

some people have called anything i play, "post-rock" - generically all forms of "eclectic & weird Christian music"

but i think the Sleep Design is legitimately "post rock" ^^
& they are a Christian band. hope you like

I used to be really big into post-rock, some of my faves were Explosions in the Sky, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Mogwai, Maybeshewill, etc. I'll check to see if there are any Christian post-rock bands, but I haven't heard of many. Considering most of that genre of music is instrumental, does it really matter? Anyway, I'll have a look.

Much of it is instrumental, but the genre itself isnt always so, and alot of the music often has lyrics. Mogwai occasionally has some. Sigur Ros is often called post rock, and they have lots of lyrics : p (Luckily its not in English though, so I can make it whatever I want : p) I really like the instrumental stuff, but when it comes to lyrics, it would be way awesome to have a band that shares my view on whats important and what isnt : p

(@posthuman) I havent looked at your videos yet, but I definitely will. And the first shows a bassist, thats a good sign : p I love bass guitar, and I really enjoy music thats not 100% guitar : p
