The mind is such a battlefield. I want mine to be strong. A long time ago, I was often depressed, mainly bcuz I mostly saw God as a punisher. I decided to fight back, try to move past the cycle of "I'm-really-trying-to-believe-&-play-happiness, " to "honestly,there's-no-way-God-REALLY-wants-me-around-&-I-am-absolutely-miserable." One of the steps I decided to take was prayer, that's how I'd move forward. Stand on God's promises, take Him at His Word, no matter how I felt about myself. I believe I also took time to be thankful. Cuz when you think someone doesn't like you, it's hard to thank them for things- like, "how could I have the audacity to think they'd ever do anything for me?" I acknowledged I was caught in a cycle and needed to move forward, and keep moving forward, not back- it was tough!! So I've established just how God loves me-- heard in a sermon that whatever you know about God, He Himself has revealed it to you- I find that SO encouraging. I'd been so focused on God's love for me, pretty much got to the point where it seemed like the biggest battles would be when Satan comes to tell me lies, and I choose to push back the dark or practically succumb to those lies, like I stinkin' did yesterday (it wasn't about doubting Gpds love, it was another issue I was having.) :/ Highs and lows- accept His love in the highs, accept it in the lows. Even though being down sucks, it's a chance to practice what I've learned. Like the Psalm, THROUGH the valley- not around or over it. But it doesn't stop there. In Sunday School, we had talked about how we're now free to love by serving each other- and after my ordeal, I felt like God showed me that going after that freedom was another step. It's so crazy to think back on how long I've been just focused on His love for us- but how that it was necessary. I feel like I finally got to see the hindsight I was reminding myself to wait for a few weeks or so ago! I hope I never forget to wait for the hindsight. I have in mind a place that I want to go volunteer at. I want you to know God really does love you & I want to encourage you in your walk with Him. I'll probably get spiritually attacked for sharing this, but that is a part of life. Satan will always hate me, I will be attacked over & over again- but God is faithful & I'm not passing up this opportunity to remind you of these truths: God loves you, you can be saved thru Jesus, and one day all pain and tears will be gone because God prevails over the darkness. You are who God says you are (His child)-- not what you feel like you are (yesterdayvI felt like a worm LOL it was tough times). You will have tough times- but maybe that's just a distraction to keep you from praying for someone else, from trusting in God, from moving forward- or maybe you encouraged someone toward God, etc!
