Yea...I live in the country here lol
Now, I don't have a problem with that....
What I have a problem with is the terrible internet service in the area
I can't put up a tower where we need one, so rather than be frustrated about it....please join me if you like in amusing myself about it

So....city or country friends....
We have ALL experienced bad internet connection before

But we have an I.S.S. above our heads...a cam in Pluto lol

Go figure right....

Especially about having to reach my phone toward the roof every now and again

at one place I lived, I kept getting a message saying that another computer on the network had the same IP address as mine, then I was kicked off the internet....

nah, in my experience no one is intelligent with computers (or technology)

Some of the worst calls we got in my tech support jobs were from IT people

Hmmm... once upon a time I had internet through our local phone company. When it was good it was... okay. When it was bad it was terrible. It would drop out for a while for no apparent reason, and kept doing this at random for MONTHS. I was a christian chatroom moderator at the time and unable to connect just didn't cut it. Every time I called their tech support they would go through the whole routine (reboot computer, reboot modem, still no good) and finally decide the problem is with the router in the phone company office downtown. No kidding, just like the last 30 times. Finally one day I asked the nice tech support guy, "Look if you were me and you needed a sure-fire, never-fail, always there, dependable connection, what would you do?" You know what their own tech support told me?

"I'd probably get one of those AT&T USB clips."

Yes, THEIR OWN TECH SUPPORT WAS RECOMMENDING THE COMPETITION!!! And I followed his advice and have been happily connected ever since.

My home internet speed is 40Mbps.

Well.... what I know about them is this:

If program acts odd: see if it can be updated
If a program crashes: restart it
it that fails: restart computer
if that fails (and it's a laptop) shut it off, remove battery, reboot

That's usually the magic fix... if that fails, I just mutter threats at my machine until it starts working again

That sounds familiar... A Linux nerd friend of mine told me that Windows tech support consists of two things. If it doesn't work, reboot. If it still doesn't work, reinstall.
