what does it mean to be known by jesus

when jesus says people will say to him in heave lord Lord didn't i prophecie in your name and jesus said get away from me i never knew you? im so confused what does this mean because for him to have the gift of prophecy he would have the holy spirit, so what does it mean to be known by jesus?

Many people prophesy and think they are from God. When they really did not prophesy and were never from God.

To Know means experimentally, I know you. you have a relationship.

God sayin ghe never knew them means they never had a relationship. ie, they were never Gods children..
 
Seriously. You do NOT want to learn about God from this forum. Ask your questions to a pastor you trust. (And phones work, even if parents won't let you walk to the church.)

The pastor may introduce you to someone he trusts to keep helping you, but to trust everyone on this site? It's like knowing you have to walk through a dark scary alley at night and pulling the first person you meet along the way to guide you. It is possible that person will truly guide you. But it is just as possible that's the person you're afraid you'll meet in that alley!

There are safe people to hang with on this site, but don't confuse that with thinking this site is safe. It's not. (Nothing personal against the site, but when you open it up to anyone who claims to be a Christian, that's exactly what you get!)

Agree, the only thing one can prophesy about is what's already been said in God's word. A lost person can speak of some truth found in God's word. That doesn't mean he believes it.

These are folks who claim to know and be known by Jesus Christ, yet they have never listened to His teachings. He invites all to learn of and by Him, yet so many claiming to believe Him quote anyone else but.....

If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love,
I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.
If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge,
and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.
If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,
but do not have love, I gain nothing.

You’re missing something extremely important:

Just because someone says he prophesies in Jesus’ name doesn’t mean he actually prophesies in Jesus’ name. There are those who pretend to prophesy in an effort to make themselves popular. Jesus knows who these people are.
 
to be known by Him means to follow Him daily, walk with Him, talk with Him, do what He has shown us by His example, and whatever you do always confirm ANY teaching by the word (see if its really in there) there are many well meaning people who think what they say is truth but we are to be students of scripture not man.

Uncalled for? If you're seriously saying this, I don't think so, rather that was good advice. I'd be mortified if a child or any new Christian were trying to learn the things of God on the vast majority of websites. It's hard to say where your remark is coming from, since everybody knows there's some horrible and deceptive theology here and most other places on the web.

Are you comfortable with any place where a tare can have an equal voice, an open pulpit, to deceive? Everybody should learn Christianity from strictly scripture and the tutelage of trusted, Spirit-filled theologians, first, get grounded, before even pursuing anything like a forum. Depleted gave some very good advice.

As for who God knows, He knows all those born again, with His Holy Spirit indwelling, of course, and does not know, in a relationship way, necessary for salvation, fake Christians, who are strangers, who are not new spiritual creatures, but still children of the world, the flesh and the devil. Knowing God and He knowing you are through the Spirit of God.

There are such things as false prophets...

Matthew 24:5 KJVS
[5] For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

...even hiding under His name.

I went to a PTO meeting where the police were giving a talk on internet safety.
There are people who pretend to be someone else on the internet.
They meet up in person and there are a lot of crimes reported in the news.
Talk is cheap and people lie about who they are.
I actually believe that people you meet online should stay online and you should never be friends in real life.

The assumption that there will be people standing before God in judgment and complaining about His unfairness with their excuses is very far-fetched. That is not only bogus, it's all religious perceptions formed in man's biased, self-righteous judgmental mind.

We have mistaken Jesus' confrontation with the "religious mind" with some kind of preview of a day of wrath coming in the Kingdom of Heaven. Did you forget that the Kingdom of Heaven is within you?

Jesus is actually speaking of God's judgment regarding their self-righteous ideals & imaginations. He was exposing their current "lawlessness" of the religious self, the flesh, their so-called religious logic. He's saying, "I never knew you," to the old man, the flesh. Because our relationship with Jesus is spiritual, He never relates to our old crucified flesh. Therefore, He never knew (is not intimate with) THAT old you. :)
 
The Apostle Paul addressed a similar scenario in Romans 10 regarding God's people who had rejected Christ. Paul continued on with a different perspective. He continues to insist that the grace of God is not dependent upon man's decisions and choices. Instead, he proclaims that grace has come to those who had not searched for it. God's grace and mercy is not limited to our false beliefs or confined by our inadequacies. God's reach isn't hindered by those who oppose Him or reject the truth.

And Paul ought to know - God reached him when he wasn't searching for the Lord! :o

Trust God! His mercy is everlasting and His love never fails!
