To be honest, I'm starting this thread more for fun than anything else. I know it probably has no bearing on the Christian faith (main idea of this site) whatsoever, but I'm honestly just curious.

This is the Conspiracy section, and I'm a nerdy X-files lover. I've often wondered, besides God being out there, do you think we are alone in the Universe? Are we the one and only life God created to fill this massive artwork of existence which showcases His wonder?

I'm not an evolutionist, so I wouldn't go the route of Stephen Hawking and start wondering if life could have spontaneously arisen on some other "fit enough" planet with some "primordial soup". But I do believe that God is an almighty artist, and therefore certainly capable of creating life somewhere else. Why only here on Earth, out of so vast a space? We have only just begun to see the outside or our own galaxy, and know for a certainty that there are billions more like ours. How do we know that every one doesn't have a planet like or unlike ours which God lovingly created for another race to enjoy Him on? How do we know that we are the first and only world of all that God has created to which He visited and died for the remission of the populations sins (sounds crazy, I know)?

Some have said to me that the existence of Extraterrestrials would debunk the belief of God, but I think it would only strengthen it. More life (whether intelligent or no) in creation would only suggest more intelligent design. I know I probably sound like a crazy person here, but I'm mostly writing this for fun anyway, and as a proud nerd and sci-fi lover, I just couldn't resist any longer.

Also, on the subject of Conspiracies, do you think the government hides (or would hide) the existence of Alien life if they knew of it? This is all conjecture, of course, and I don't really stand a solid position on it. But I do find it enjoyable discussion.

My friend you are going to fit in very well:) there are many scifi lovers here and many nerds and geeks here in cc, and the question of if God made life elsewhere if aliens are real and such is not just normal but healthy I think.

I definitely think there are more than five dimensions. I've heard a physicist I met personally say that there may be more than ten. Time has got to be one of them, I think. "When" something exists in space has got to be a big factor in it's existence as well as height, width, and depth.

But yeah, I kinda feel like Fox Mulder from the X-files sometimes. I want to believe. But I still want to see evidence. I certainly subscribe to the belief that science points to God, I can tell you that.

The idea of Time Travel fascinates me. Some people believe that UFOs are actually time machines from the future. Thing is
world history could be changed if it was possible to go back to the past. None of us may be here, which was the main idea behind the back to the future films. Perhaps that may explain why very few UFOs ever land anywhere in case they change events. If I had one perhaps I could be the next US President LOL

We exist in a petri dish in some scientists lab and the green hue that we see is the lab lights.

I've heard that same theory, tanakh, and would have to agree that UFOs could definitely time travel. If it were possible to travel inter-galactic distances (i.e. across hundreds of billions of light years), it would make sense that the vehicles of Extraterrestrial travel would by necessity move outside of time, or at least several times faster than light (therefore being capable of traveling outside of the space-time continuum itself).

If we know anything about basic Physics or the Theory of Relativity from Einstein, we know that Energy equals Matter times the Speed of Light Squared (E=MC2). This would imply (concerning E.T.s) that a UFO would have to travel outside of time itself to make the distance to Earth and back within a conceivable biologic lifetime, and the energy required would by necessity be enough to bend space-time. I have even heard a theory which states that this is possible with some subatomic substances of particle Physics, but we have yet to apply it to reality of course...

Its an interesting concept though I must confess my knowledge of Physics is very limited. I think I must have skipped class when Einstein and Co were being taught!

It's an interesting subject that I think we've all browsed through before. Lol I get the X-Files reference for sure, always kinda felt like Mulder myself. Always been fond of investigating unexplained phenomena and looking for answers, and funny enough the answers are there if you are willing to accept them, lol, but indeed the truth is out there.

No though, there's no extra-terrestrials, at least not in the way pop culture portrays it, meaning flesh and blood beings with civilizations and earths comparable to our own. Much of what we're taught about space in this time today is actually a complete lie and it is indeed a subject that the more you research it the more the wonk becomes obvious. Lol but to spare your topic of plowing through so many other X-Files, here is something to consider that I found years a go when playing Mulder myself lol:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fermi_paradox

The Fermi paradox or Fermi's paradox, named after Enrico Fermi, is the apparent contradiction between high estimates of the probability of the existence of extraterrestrial civilizations, such as in the Drake equation, and the lack of evidence for such civilizations.[SUP][1][/SUP] The basic points of the argument, made by physicistsEnrico Fermi (1901–1954) and Michael H. Hart (born 1932), are:

  • There are billions of stars in the galaxy that are similar to the Sun[SUP][2][/SUP][SUP][3][/SUP] including many billions of years older than Earth.[SUP][4][/SUP][SUP][5][/SUP]
  • With high probability, some of these stars will have Earth-like planets,[SUP][6][/SUP][SUP][7][/SUP] and if the Earth is typical, some might develop intelligent life.
  • Some of these civilizations might develop interstellar travel, a step the Earth is investigating now.
  • Even at the slow pace of currently envisioned interstellar travel, the Milky Way galaxy could be completely traversed in about a million years.[SUP][8][/SUP]
According to this line of thinking, the Earth should have already been visited by extraterrestrial aliens. In an informal conversation, Fermi noted no convincing evidence of this, nor any signs of alien intelligence anywhere in the observable universe, leading him to ask, "Where is everybody?"

I definitely think there are more than five dimensions. I've heard a physicist I met personally say that there may be more than ten.

the most popular flavor of string theory is in 11 spatial dimensions. physicists don't consider time to be a "dimension" the way most people talk about it. it's an extra degree of freedom in the equations, okay, but when we talk about "dimensions" it's strictly in a spatial sense.
it wouldn't make sense to call a line geometrically 3D -- even though a line exists over time. does that make sense? so "dimension" in terms of the math is referring to geometry.

i blame "the twilight zone" for the confusion. :p

My favorite book as a teenager was "The Time Machine" by H.G. Wells. :)
Tho the movie they made of the story was extremely disappointing to me.

traveling faster than light doesn't put you 'outside of the space-time continuum' .. um, we should probably clearly define what you mean by that anyway.

there's an alternative to FTL (faster than light) travel -- travelling a shorter distance. that's the whole wormhole idea in brief; a huge mass (or energy, equivalently) can bend space back on itself. so you take a shortcut.

anyone who wants to travel from one side of a galaxy to another - or even between any two stars, for that matter - needs to do something like that, or deal with being in transit for a really really really long time. even at the speed of light, it would take you 100,000 years to get from one side of the milky way to the other.

maybe you think we've been visited by aliens -- but did you ever think that those aliens had a 35,000 year commute?
nah, not likely.
that's where all the speculation about fantastic ways of getting around come in. because otherwise, intergalactic travel is either pretty illogical altogether, or those aliens are from somewhere really (relatively) close by.

Ok that's all well and good but if I'm traveling at the speed of light and I turn my headlights on does anything happen?

In all seriousness. Astronomers discovered the Sloan wall awhile back. I read an interesting take on in that it is so large that based on its size they would have to revise the age of the universe by a 100 billion years or more. Just yesterday I read of a new discovery that dwarfs the Sloan wall. While I'm not a proponent of an old universe, it's just proof that we just flat don't have a clue on what's out there and the immeasurable size of it all. God really must be unfathomable.

And for the record, I think if their are aliens visiting us, I believe them to be spirit beings. Probably lucifers minions.

only one way to find out.

but will they do you much good? you're going to need some awfully good brakes to stop in time if an inter-galactic deer runs out in front of you!

An intergalactic alien deer no doubt.
