while i'm here -- (still without having read the thread)

what i know is that it's God who works in me, who began the work, and who will finish the work. and my faith is in His faithfulness, not my own - so if i doubt, i doubt Him, and if i am secure, it is because i trust Him.
He is the one redeeming and reforming me and causing me to love Him, and perfecting in me that love. and love obeys His commands.
i don't think there's much to add to that except that it's the joy of our salvation that ought to be restored, not anxiety.

in all this i am grateful eternally! and can boast of nothing! all glory honor & power is His alone :)

You summarized it beautifully :)

Amen! Praise the Lord!

There is no doubt that the old man is dead.....I guess Paul was a gnostic too....

Romans 6:6-8 (KJV)
[SUP]6 [/SUP] Knowing this, thatour old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
[SUP]7 [/SUP] For he that is dead is freed from sin.
[SUP]8 [/SUP] Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

Galatians 2:20 (KJV)
[SUP]20 [/SUP] I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

I am crucified with Christ = perfect passive = an action that happened in the past with a completed continuous result

Passive = the action happened to you from an outside force - you did not do it...

the Greek perfect tense indicates the continuation and present state of a completed past action.

these man say their spirits were saved by knowledge (not by Jesus Christ) so that what their flesh did did not matter, they were saved by emanating to a higher spirit, and then an even higher one, (one of which was the Christ) and so on. when they died their spirits would attain pure spirithood, They did not beiieve in the grace of God, or in a resurrection,

Learn what they really taught instead of quoting half truths!!!

HeRose believes we think we have "special knowledge" because to him the mystery is still a mystery. Even though Paul de-mystified it thousands of year ago....

"To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory." Col 1:27

Must be that CLV version of the Bible HeRose prefers left out those verses......

HRFTD has been shown to cleary teach salvation by works, this was posted earlier:
You must do the righteous work of abstaining from sin and doing the will of GOD in order to be saved.

I would be more concerned that you would say this in spite of what Titus 3:5 says:

"Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost" Titus 3:5

Yes, the inner man is born of the spirit, but we are not just the inner man. We have an old man, too, that hasn't gone anywhere and will be with us until we die.

"Grace" believers don't believe that it's possible to walk in righteousness with a consciousness of their sin nature, and the concomitant imperative to overcome it. Thus they dissociate from what they call sin-consciousness by considering the flesh and the body to be separate and distinct. In other words, mental separation is made between the flesh and the body, which allows for the belief that the body is sinless. The sinful flesh, then, simply becomes an idea that is compartmentalized in the mind and discarded (ignored, denied) because it is the old man that was crucified and no longer exists. This process of denying the existence of sinful flesh and identifying only with the incorruptible spirit and sinless body is what 'grace' believers call the renewing of the mind.

The Theological Dictionary of the New Testament has a good description of this mental dissociation process in which a person only identifies with what they want to be (their identity as the righteousness of GOD), and blots out any consciousness or idea contrary to it (their sin nature).
f. Gnosticism offers a radical solution to the conflict of conscience. It is true that instances are very sparse. But the basic dualistic solution involves a full separation between the two egos. The true I of the Gnostic is identical with the divine world of light, while the other I belongs to the chaotic world and is thus to be abandoned. In the final analysis, then, there is no bad conscience for the Gnostic. Naturally this opens the door not merely to asceticism but also to libertinism.

Paul talks about the two 'I's mentioned above in Romans 7-8, in which victory is found, not through denial of the sinful flesh's existence, but through not obeying it in grace through faith.

Again where is your scripture?

This is a bible discussion forum.

or is that too hard for you?

True...I guess Paul was obviously such a gnostic too like the rest of the grace believers in Christ alone for salvation.....then we better throw out a lot that he wrote ..especially in Romans 7:14-22..where he says it's not him sinning..it's the sin that is in his flesh.....warring against his inner man

...even so we better still walk according to the Spirit now even if Paul is one of those nasty gnostic type believers....he might have gotten something right spiritually....just sayin'....

I understand the MO here. If what is being offered is not their particular flavor, they get their buddies to gang up and engage in gossip about the poster. Got it now

So you have nothing to add to the discussion but to attack.

Why are you here again?

No...we stand up for the unadulterated gospel of the grace of Christ and stand against works-righteousness for salvation. If we teach and preach the true gospel..it has the power for salvation....for in it..the righteousness of God is revealed....there are young Christians that read these threads and they need to be fed the real food and water of the life of Christ that is freely theirs because the Father loves them deeply.

We live by faith in what our Lord has done for us in His finished work.

Romans 1:16-17 (NASB)
[SUP]16 [/SUP] For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
[SUP]17 [/SUP] For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "BUT THE RIGHTEOUS man SHALL LIVE BY FAITH."

Nobody "got anyone" to do anything.
It's the thread's title and tone which attract people (red flags, due to hyper-grace versus hyper-legalistic)--it's also why we're shaking our heads before we even begin reading (we've seen it before; nothing new here).

Definitely not here to encourage the gossip. Beginning to wonder if this is a forum at a junior high school

I have not seen you post anything but attack or name calling since I came in here today.

Do you never look in a mirror?

ps. Saying people who teach grace are gnostic? That's gossip, Bearing false witness, And not discussing the word of god.

so who is the one who is always in here doing those things?
