A man is going to look if he is a man because that is what he is designed to do. I don't want to shame people but both sexes stumble each other the way they are dressed.
I suspect you are responding to someone else's post, but you didn't quote them so I will take your comment on its own terms.

Frankly, this is an attempt at justifying sin. Men are NOT designed (by God) to lust, or to look at women who are dressed in any particular way. It is the sin nature within us that gives the proclivity to lust.

Job 31:1 "I have made a covenant with my eyes; How then could I gaze at a virgin?" (NASB)
"I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a young woman." (NIV)

By conscious control of our eyes, we can avoid looking at all. Or, if we do see something which could prompt lustful thoughts, we can look away, or look only at a woman's face, not her body. It might take practice, but it is possible. Honouring God by treating all people, women and men, as image-bearers of God is worth the effort.

But are you suggesting that woman who dress in a provocative manner are not aware that they may be encouraging a licentious glance?
The woman caught in adultery was most likely dressed in a provocative manner. I don't read anything in Jesus words to her that made mention of her clothing. I believe what He said was, "I don't condemn you."

Oh, and right before that, the Lord told all the men to throw a stone at her if they themselves had nothing in their hearts as bad as the sin of adultery.

So, please don't throw stones at Joyce Meyer unless of course you don't have anything in your hearts equal to what you are accusing her of.

*Disclaimer: this isn't directed at you, JosephsDreams. I'm referring to those criticizing Joyce Meyer.

My father is a pastor...a well groomed, neat and tidy, handsome man. He takes pride in his looks and is always respectful to all people. This, to certain female minds, means "I want a man like that!" I recall a middle aged female suddenly attending our church for about 3 Sundays in a row. Mom and dad are always trying to beat the crowd to the back door as to greet all visitors and congregation. Finally, they got to meet this 'visitor" and greeted her warmly. The lady asked if she could speak privately with dad. Dad agreed, and as usual, kept his office door wide open with mom just outside the door, pretending she was arranging things. The woman got directly to the point. She told dad that her husband and her were not successful in conceiving children. Her husband was infertile. Instead of adopting, they chose to pick a male who would best suit their taste for their child. Her question was "Would you ever consider donating your sperm so that we can have a baby? You have the color hair, the build, the look, the personality and the style that we would want for our future child. And, you are a man of GOD! There would be no sex involved, just being a donner would suffice!". Mom overheard this request and almost fainted! No, dad was embarrassed and did not comply. What I am saying is that good looking, non-balding male pastors are 'targets' as well. Are they not to listen to the Holy Spirit's calling, just because they may be viewed as being masculine?
hahahahahahaha
oh my goodness

Paul said: I do not permit a woman to teach. (1 Timothy 2:12) Yet he was speaking of his own opinion. Then in Rom 16 he Greets 10 woman , ministers and leaders.
[h=1]Romans 16King James Version (KJV)[/h]16 I commend unto you Phebe our sister, which is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea:
2 That ye receive her in the Lord, as becometh saints, and that ye assist her in whatsoever business she hath need of you: for she hath been a succourer of many, and of myself also.
3 Greet Priscilla and Aquila my helpers in Christ Jesus:
4 Who have for my life laid down their own necks: unto whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles.
5 Likewise greet the church that is in their house. Salute my well-beloved Epaenetus, who is the firstfruits of Achaia unto Christ.
6 Greet Mary, who bestowed much labour on us.
7 Salute Andronicus and Junia, my kinsmen, and my fellow-prisoners, who are of note among the apostles, who also were in Christ before me.
8 Greet Amplias my beloved in the Lord.
9 Salute Urbane, our helper in Christ, and Stachys my beloved.
10 Salute Apelles approved in Christ. Salute them which are of Aristobulus' household.
11 Salute Herodion my kinsman. Greet them that be of the household of Narcissus, which are in the Lord.
12 Salute Tryphena and Tryphosa, who labour in the Lord. Salute the beloved Persis, which laboured much in the Lord.
13 Salute Rufus chosen in the Lord, and his mother and mine.
14 Salute Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermas, Patrobas, Hermes, and the brethren which are with them.
15 Salute Philologus, and Julia, Nereus, and his sister, and Olympas, and all the saints which are with them.
16 Salute one another with an holy kiss. The churches of Christ salute you.
17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
19 For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil.
20 And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
21 Timotheus my workfellow, and Lucius, and Jason, and Sosipater, my kinsmen, salute you.
22 I Tertius, who wrote this epistle, salute you in the Lord.
23 Gaius mine host, and of the whole church, saluteth you. Erastus the chamberlain of the city saluteth you, and Quartus a brother.
24 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,
26 But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:
27 To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen.

....
So I believe the bible allows for woman to preach and teach. There are more Verses of Prophetesses and so on but I dont want to make this a Novel. God bless

Give it a break, oh holier-than-thou! YOU DID offend me. You offended me often. You called a woman a skank. You compared her to a prostitute. You admitted you look at prostitutes as a habit, and proved it by finding picture after picture of prostitutes. And that is your opinion of woman, I out and out told you I AM offended by people feeling free to judge women in particular by their outward appearances only.

And what do you do about it? Turn it into "all you are wrong and I am right. How dare you put me down? You might cause precious-little-ole-me to stumble. DUDE? You didn't just stumble. You fell into a deep and dark hole. And what are you doing about it? You're trying to talk us into joining you.

I came back for one reason -- to see, perchance, if you would ask for forgiveness after me telling you point blank what you were doing was wrong on so many, many levels. (And, note: On the original question we agree.) But nooooo!

In your height of arrogance you decided to go back to make sure you offend every last person, because it's all about YOU!

You truly do not fear for anyone else's well being because you can see no one else but you. You are the misery, and no, I don't want your company.

Should I do what you're doing? Everytime I disagree with something you say, I should start running down all men by their looks based on the fact you're a man? (That's what you did to women -- all women!) Should I give some kind of pompous excuse to blame it on everyone else when I really mean you are wrong or I'm in a holier-than-thou mood so I'm wrong?

Are you very selective on your topic reading on this site? Because you missed a topic that has come up in the last couple of weeks more than once -- forgiveness.

So is this your teaching on how you forgive, or is this your teaching on how to seek forgiveness?

YOU OFFENDED, DUDE! You managed to offend everyone on every side except those who think like you and really do think it's all about appearances just-as-long-as-we're-only-talkin'-women, of course! At this moment one person is left agreeing with you -- KJV1611. Doesn't that tell you ANYTHING?

I'll leave you something, because obviously, to you, it's all about appearances if we're merely skanky women. (Because who else would be a skank but a woman? There is no gender-specific word for a man with the same attributes.) I'll give you what you like doing the most -- a photo of me so you can tear me up some more by my looks. (You've torn me up every other which-way, so why not continue? And yes, there's a lot to give you to tear up look wise. If you need help, I can assist you with more added insults on how I look. I know them all.)
View attachment 145955

Get it out! Insult me by my looks. Get it all out, so you stop insulting 51% of the population and then some. (Since insulting all women wasn't enough, you had to insult all believers too.)

YES! IT IS A BIGGIE AND YOU CONTINUE TO DO IT!!!!!

(Too subtle?)

Sis Lynn, is that a restaurant or your backyard garden? Man, all those flowers and plants are magnificent!! And you're the prettiest flower there. *hugs*
Love to you, sister!!

I'm not going to use that cheap excuse of account hacking...I own up to it and boldy state I don't care for Joyce Meyer and yes I do think she looks like the Joker...if that offends you too bad, people are entitled to their own opinions..and don't act like you have never disliked someone such as another male and said something about them...even if you thought it and didn't vocalize it....
Bzzzz, you came close but no cigar. You didn't "own up to it." You excused it and then put it back on me. Not ever!

I don't like Joyce Meyer either, but I'm not judging her as a slab of meat like you did. I don't like her teachings. You are offensive because you DID take your dislike to looks and you were cruel about it. And you DID verbalize it.

If you think i take it to your low levels, here is how I did judge a man recently verbally.

My husband's attending physician changed. The old one left and a new one took her place. I asked who he was. Hubby hadn't met him but he said the nurses said the guy was tall and good looking.

Later on, we did meet him. And I did look. And I did form opinions about him.

When he left, I asked hubby if he thought he was good looking. Hubby thought so, (in a guy kind of way. lol)

I asked him if he thought Peyton Manning was good looking.

He shrugged, and then said "kinda."

I said, "The doctor reminds me of Peyton Manning. I can see where women fawn over him. He has a good physique, but the face just doesn't do it for me. Not ugly. Just not my kind of face. More like Ron Howard when he was young. Charming, but not handsome."

As for if I liked him? Nope.

But I'm not comparing him to a street walker, a skank, or the Joker either. Women use words often. Notice we don't have the vocabulary for men, like men have for women. What ticks me off is the vocabulary the men use on here -- supposedly "good Christian men" -- is no different than the language used at the corner tappy!

So, you didn't own it. You excused it and put it back on me.

Melita has a good question, although she didn't expect me to take it here. How many "men" do we have on this site? Because I've been watching a few boys using this site like a street corner to check out the girls going by.

You're NOT "entitled" to your opinion. You're entitled to God's opinion. Act like it.

And, dagnabit, a woman IS schooling the boys right now! I'm still no pastor!

Women are covering up in burkas now. Exactly when is enough enough to placate men? When do men take on the responsibility of dealing with seeing women? Because, despite how I dress and how old I am, I STILL get wolf calls!

Where's the thread about men dressing provocatively? Because they do and we deal.

Stop blaming the women!!!

Isaiah 3:12
"As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths."
Your words mean nothing because your heart is set on you. (Nice ignore. It was noticed.)

Anyone that attacks Melita is going to get it ... so don't do it :)
You can say that again, Mitspa. And furthermore, they may direct all future comments regarding Melita to my son, who is in love with her.
