Lead with this;
"No one made God's life. God is Life Eternal."
Maybe show the scripture, where God shares knowledge of His life and the gift of sharing in His life... so you can lead into explaining what eternal is, as it pertains to eternity.
I just don't think trying to separate God from time or time from eternity is a good practice, due to the fact God has walked in time and was born in time and plans to live in time with us for eternity. And also, we have always existed in God. No need to confuse the child by concepts of time, right
This is a simple approach , the whole purpose is understanding life. Life Eternal(God's life) is absolute existence for eternity(no birthday). Eternity is without end and eternal has no beginning. That is why God is all knowing, and knew us before we were born. Maybe talk about how people use the analogy of east to west, too?
[SUP]2 [/SUP]As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
In Adam, all have eternal existence, in Christ all have eternal life.
