First of all, there are no "offices" in the church. That's a misrepresentation in the KJV. So is "bishop".

How about an apostle?

Romans 16:7 (NLT)
[SUP]7 [/SUP]Greet Andronicus and Junia, my fellow Jews, who were in prison with me. They are highly respected among the apostles and became followers of Christ before I did.

Romans 16:7 (NRSV)
[SUP]7 [/SUP]Greet Andronicus and Junia, my relatives who were in prison with me; they are prominent among the apostles, and they were in Christ before I was.

Romans 16:7 (TEV)
[SUP]7 [/SUP]Greetings also to Andronicus and Junia, fellow Jews who were in prison with me; they are well known among the apostles, and they became Christians before I did.

Romans 16:7 (NKJV)
[SUP]7 [/SUP]Greet Andronicus and Junia, my countrymen and my fellow prisoners, who are of note among the apostles, who also were in Christ before me.

Romans 16:7 (Darby)
[SUP]7 [/SUP]Salute Andronicus and Junias, my kinsmen and fellow-captives, who are of note among the apostles; who were also in Christ before me.

Romans 16:3-5 (KJV)
[SUP]3 [/SUP]Greet Priscilla (named first)and Aquila my helpers in Christ Jesus: [SUP]4 [/SUP]Who have for my life laid down their own necks: unto whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles. [SUP]5 [/SUP]Likewise greet the church that is in their house. Salute my wellbeloved Epaenetus, who is the firstfruits of Achaia unto Christ.

Colossians 4:15 (NASB)
[SUP]15 [/SUP]Greet the brethren who are in Laodicea and also Nympha and the church that is in her house.

Colossians 4:15 (NLT)
[SUP]15 [/SUP]Please give my greetings to our brothers and sisters at Laodicea, and to Nympha and the church that meets in her house.

Colossians 4:15 (NRSV)
[SUP]15 [/SUP]Give my greetings to the brothers and sisters in Laodicea, and to Nympha and the church in her house.

Colossians 4:15 (TEV)
[SUP]15 [/SUP]Give our best wishes to the believers in Laodicea and to Nympha and the church that meets in her house.
Note it doesn't say "greet the minister that preaches in Nympha's house" She's the minister.

Also note that female names were mistranslated in the KJV to men. Since the Archbishop of Canterbury supervised the writing of the KJV, & also the Bishop's Bible, which mistranslates the same way, one can conclude it was done on purpose.
Wow.

Lol well its just not my natural ability. Some people have no problem with public speaking. I really had to feel moved upon to say something. He has taken me out of my comfort zone often over the years. I can't say its an audible voice,I just feel warm and my heart races like I don't want to do this but the Lord is urging me to do it. I want to be obedient but my feet seem stuck to the floor. Then all of a sudden I know I have to go and obey. I know I'll feel miserable if I dont.

I remember years ago when a church I attended was having issue. It got very nasty with opposing sides. Into this mess came a new pastor and his wife. I came to know them well because we would often sing at our home church when we came home. The pastors wife was such a sweet person but she was having such a hard time with the church issues and some of the people. She started to fall into depression. She was a singer and one morning she sang a beautiful, moving song. She cried her way through it and people just sat there, stone faced. It was clear that she was emotionally distraught. She got up from the piano and rushed to the bathroom. I knew she was upset. Again I had the inner dialogue. I felt to go but it was the pastors wife and I was just young, surely another of the church ladies would go. I waited and waited,no one went. Finally up I get and off to the ladies room. When I opened the door the pastors wife literally fell on me. She sobbed for I dont know how long and I kept holding her and softly praying for her. I was in ministry,I understood what she was going though. When she stopped crying my shoulder was soaked. We talked till the end of the service. She and I had a special bond after that. Ministry happens more than behind the pulpit folks. God uses us all in different ways. I've told these stories not to brag on myself but to make the point that God uses women in ministry. Women have a heart for ministry and are called. Some disagree as to whether a woman can be a pastor, I have no issue with a female pastor. But lets not discourage women in ministry. Women if you feel a call on your life, find out what it is and do it with all your might. We need everyone on deck, every member of the body working, the days are short. We all have loved ones and friends that need to know the truth. It greatly upsets me that we have 79 pages on female pastors but how many on reaching the lost? Cant you see the clock?
See now? I'd be the woman crying right along with her watching her. I'd have to wait for my legs to stop wobbling before I got up to go check on her. But I would then go check. If I didn't, hubby would be shoving me off the seat. lol

And, although we're not ministers that's the kind of reason we tend to become friends with those who are. We are prop-ers. We know ministry is hard, (especially with cold faced people), so we help to prop up the ones who are. Kind of like Aaron and Joshua propping up Moses' arms when the staff got heavy.

I honestly don't see how your response had anything to do with what you included in my quote, I don't see why you're telling me this, since I'm against women pastors too, and, honestly? I'm a little bit older than you so remember what church was 30-40 years ago. I don't see that anything has changed since then.

(And I have no idea what timespirit means.)
Lol he's German.

The*Zeitgeist*(spirit of the age*or*spirit of the time) is the dominant set of ideals and beliefs that motivate the actions of the members of a society in a particular period in time.

Can you explain to me the blonde joke that she washed her hair in the sink because there you wash vegetables. I still don't get it.

Point A. Agreed.

Point B.

But taking it down to the point where you think men and women are equal in a family is where I disagree. We talk big stuff over. We usually talk it over until consensus is reached. I'm at submit and he's at love, so we each measure by our specific goals. But once in a great while we cannot agree but a decision needs to be made.

Who gets to make that decision? Him. Closed to equal, but also not equal. Equal can be a tricky word. I'm not inferior, but I'm not the ultimate decision maker either... unless he decides I am.
I think God gave woman and men different abilities and insights into different things, with some overlap. So I think if the husband and wife recognize this, then the relationship can purr along in a way that demonstrates equality in a way God designed. Also, it is not just a action word, more important is the state of being in an attitude of Gods intention for us. As Christian I believe most of us usually try to err on the side of love if we are not sure about something. Love. I think, just assumes a respect and equality (equal is sometimes a tricky word, but God has given gifts that we need to appreciate in each other) men and woman are imbued in us by God.

I don't think any of your brothers or sisters could even remotely think ANY of your posts have been bragging. Your posts are a blessing. The Holy Spirit jumps up in me at your posts where you tell your stories. He wouldn't do that if you weren't walking in the Spirit. It's almost, when He jumps in me this way, as if He spots you and then smacks me on the arm and says, oh hey, look, I know her!! :)

Well folk here can be quick to judge sometimes. What I really wanted to do was encourage other women to follow Gods call in ministry. God has greatly used women down through history. I just wanted let women know they can be used if they are willing and open. If God has used me to lift anothers burden then I feel blessed to have done so. People seem to forget that we are a body,we move together. It reminds me of a verse in a song that Casting Crowns sings...

But if we are the body
Why aren't His arms reaching?
Why aren't His hands healing?
Why aren't His words teaching?
And if we are the body
Why aren't His feet going?
Why is His love not showing them there is a way?
There is a way

I know it can be disheartening, but I've taken great joy and rest in you guys and how the Holy Spirit has united us here. Grace777, JosephsDream, you, sharkwales and everyone else walking in the Spirit in love whose name I am not recalling this very second because they don't post often but when they do it is like God opened the windows of heaven for us.

The disheartening part comes when we forget that not everyone is the Church, the Church IS WHEREVER two or more called out ones are met together, just as the article Pw posted says. Not a building, not a set program, not a specific location, not with rules that grieve and silence the Holy Spirit in us - just WHEREVER two or more are gathered in His name.

I'm confused. Who are you talking to? (It could be me, since I'm ignoring one or two folks. lol) Because this was about if women should be pastors. Apostles is a different word. So is office.

That is a real reach. You are supposing, or whoever it is you are copying and pasting here, that nymphas is incorrect. To say it is bride instead of bridegroom is an assumption with no proof.
To say a woman is the minister is to add words, because again, it doesn't say that and that is an assumption.
To support such a posit you must reject Paul's credibility completely.
To say bishop is wrong, again, you must discredit Paul who told us "husband of one wife", of which there can be no dispute of the gender referred to there.
Paul told Titus to ordain elders. You think elder is feminine by gender?
God is masculine. Christ is masculine. The Holy Spirit is masculine. Only by twisting scripture can you or anyone else claim God's message was meant to be taught and or preached by women.
As with every single person on this thread that advocates women in the pulpit, you state, in effect, that Paul speaks with no authority from God, that Christ never taught him, and that the KJV is simply a perversion of the gospel.
Which one, or is it all three?

The ridiculous stretching of scripture to cover women preaching here is disgusting. Supposedly true believers trashing the man God picked to finish Christ's mission, to bring His gospel at last to the gentile. God picked Paul before he was born. Or is that a lie too? Or are you saying that Paul slid into apostasy later?
Which ludicrous plot do you think it was?
You people's blanket ain't getting the job done. You're going to find that out, and I hope for your sakes it is sooner rather than later.
Change your bed. Your feet are getting cold.
For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it: and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it.

Vegetable -- a word used to describe someone who is all but brain dead. The only part left of the brain is the brain stem that activates muscles.

(Hey, I don't do blonde jokes. I'm brunette rushing off to gray. But I also don't do cookies, and blonde jokes and cookies are both running jokes on here.)

There are valid questions. There is a seeming contradiction some of us have seen. We want that seeming contradiction resolved. No one hates Paul. Who doesn't love Paul and thank God for him often?? But when Paul says, "I give my opinion," we want to know why another man would say, that "I give my opinion," or "I THINK I have the mind of God on this matter," are the same as "thus sayeth the Lord."
Those who have seen the contradiction aren't going to be browbeaten or cowed or shamed into not facing it and dealing with it, with the Spirits help.

And even Paul himself said, in what sounds like...frustration to me, - and if anyone wants to argue, this is our tradition, so that's that. "This is our tradition" is also not "thus sayeth the Lord." In fact, through this thread, even despite the ugly, the unloving, and the coarse, I have learned a lot. I think Paul knew what he was doing more than we, or even HE, knew.

Are you praying for us? If you believe we are in such error, you should be praying for us. I am praying that God confirms the truth to all of us, without any ego involved. Just dependent in Christ. If I am wrong, God show me and allow me to be humble about it. His wisdom, not the worlds. Don't lose any sleep over this. I am serious, not being flippant. I don't think any of us are forfeiting our salvation here.
Do you think we are in danger of that?
