He will raise our taxes to pay for his social programs. How are more entitlements a responsible alternative?

The best way to do business is always to seek out the win-win solution. When there's a win-lose dynamic one party is jaded, and that is bad for business. In the short term one party might make money, but to do right business you almost have to not worry about money (which I know sounds hilariously oxymoronic). It is better to sacrifice a little profit to gain a win-win situation because in the long run by maintaining your word, relationships, and reputation you have more chance of success by continuing to do business and you mitigate more risk.

To use an example. Let's say I am selling fruit. One batch of fruit is good, one is bad. Now I could sell both the good batch and the bad batch and make a lil money, but then the customer would be losing and would be jaded against me rightfully so. They might never do business with me again, they might spread word that I sold them an inferior product, etc. On the other hand I could throw away the bad batch and sell the good batch, take a small short term loss, but the customer is happy and stays my customer, maybe spreads word that my fruit is good, etc.

You definitely have a good point and I agree with that.

But the goal of capitalism is to maximize profits. This is a cut-throat stance that we have seen historically. Yes, there are good companies that will get rid of the bad apples to sustain only superior product. But lets look at Walmart for example. They do more than keep "the bad apples", they manipulate legislation by outsourcing and hiring multiple employees at non-living wages, but are careful to give very few of them full time employment to bypass the financial burdens they would have to endure.

It does sometimes make the news of companies who do their best to pay their employees above minimum wage and at 40 hours per week (like Costco when they paid their employees $10/hour), but no one really retaliates like you suggest against Walmart. It's part of the "high price for low costs".

When my profits are up I might hire people. Profit is not a dirty word...contrary to what you have been taught. But I am considered rich and I must be taxed to "pay my fair share".
 
You're right, "profit" is not a dirty word....We're not trying to make everyone poor...I'm not sure what you're thinking. And it's not "Sanders social programs", it's all of ours...it affects all of us and helps all of us. Taking pennies away from us, or even dollars for universal healthcare? I'll take it.

So you want me to pay more taxes than what I am already paying? What's your tax burden?

I don't think profit is a bad word at all actually. There is a difference between being unethical to obtain max profit and making profit while giving people a fair and living wage.

Manipulating legislation by hiring people at minimum wage level, only to limit the hours they can work to avoid making them full time employees should not be in the spirit of capitalism... but it is.

Companies like Walmart have gone 10 steps further and taken out life insurance policies on their sick employees... not so they can give the insurance policy to the deceased family... but so they can cash in on the misfortune of their employees. This isn't new or even exclusive with just Walmart. It shows the moral code (or lack thereof) with modern capitalism and it's progressively getting worse.

What about managing a currency ethically and morally under the constraints of the constitution that actually has purchasing power? That would do a zillion times better than a minimum wage.

Seriously, how is this guy not banned yet? He keeps harassing me and trying to provoke me. I'm a big girl though... I can take it. Do you have some sort of power struggle in your life and you want to feel like you're in charge? You're one of the most bigoted people I've seen on here... Everyone else, even those who have disagreed with me, has treated me with more respect. I think you need to take a step back and reflect how you act with people. You seem to have some underlying anger problems..

Bush and Obama loved to acquire debt. I'm not sure how the US can manage it's own currency. What I do know is that minimum wage should be adjusted to inflation. This is more realistic given the current field.
 
Anyway....KimPetras, what do you think of Sanders' increase minimum wage policy?

Raises the minimum wage has been to proven to create employment.
 
^^ I'm genuinely surprised to hear you say that, Sirk! :) I would have thought you would have said decrease employment or something. I think everyone should have a livable wage, that's for sure. I know many people think that say...the fast food industry should be a stepping stone job and people should strive for better, but many can't/won't for various reasons. They should still be able to live a good life and not live in poverty!
